The heavy rain/flood has done much damage throughout our area.  Countless volunteers have been working since before the heavy rain got her and are still working.  Churches and other organizations are helping.  The area Baptist Churches will be meeting tomorrow at 3:00 at the missions office in Franklinton to organize plans for helping.  You are welcome to attend the meeting a participate in some of the work that is to follow.

Two churches of the many churches that had heavy damage are Mt. Nebo east of Roseland and Stateline Baptist Church in Washington Parish .  Mt. Nebo did not have flood insurance.   FBC, Kentwood had water in the basement area and the Lighthouse.  Work has already been done to improve the situation there.  Sunday School classes will probably be relocated in the morning.  Also, the AC has been used to help dry out water, so be prepared for it to be cooler than usual in the sanctuary.

Please pray for Mt. Nebo and Stateline churches and all the others that I do not about yet. Be available to do what you can to help them and for all the individual families throughout our area that were flooded 

Thank God for all those who stepped up/in to help beginning with the first drops and continuing as long as needed.  Thank God that for safety of thousands of people over the last few days.

Johnny Belgard has been hospitalized for three months.  He has fluid in both lungs now.  Please pray for Johnny, Susan, and their family.

Mrs. Yvonne Vining’s last test shows her to be cancer-free.  Please continue to pray for her and Mr. John.

Please continue to pray for Betty Taylor sister, Theresa.  While doing so, include Betty in your prayers.  Her knee pain now includes her hip and a major nerve.  Betty’s son, Tommy Mapes, will be dealing with dental and vision problems this week and staying with Betty this week.  Pray as his issues are corrected.

Frances Gay, requests prayer for Paul Brown’s mother.  She lives in lower Livingston Parish.

David is doing well following that major procedure Thursday.  Thank-you to all are are asking about him and praying for him.

Pray for Mrs. Rebecca Williams as she has the same procedure on Tuesday of next week and Gloria Gill as she has the procedure in April at Lacombe.

Jason and two other Camp Ridgecrest former staffers spent the weekend with Bobby Black in Greenville, S.C.  They were able to do so things to help Bobby at home while he is hospitalized, including getting him hospice services.

My former classmate passed away.

Missions Opportunity

You are invited to FBC, Greensburg to learn about the Annie Armstrong Week of Prayer for North American missions.  The theme this year is “Here I Am/Send ME”.  We will meet at 10 and end with a potluck lunch.  Everyone is invited to come.

  •      Did you realize 33% of the people in the South are unchurched?
  •      Did you realize 73% of the people in Canada are unchurched?
  •      Did you realize 90% of the people in western states are unchurched?

Even if you cannot attend the meeting this morning, I hope you will want to support the efforts to change the statistics I just listed.  You can do this at any Southern Baptist church.  One hundred percent on the money given will be used  for that purpose.

Easter Sunrise Services – I know of two places where  you can celebrate the resurrection this Easter morning at sunrise.  If your church has a service scheduled, please let me know so I can share the information.  We can’t be at more than one place, but  we can make a good choice if we know all the options.

Please pray for Betty Taylor’s sister, Terese Sanchez, who had a heart attack and received a stent yesterday.

Pat Hendry of Chesbrough was hospitalized for a couple of days.  Pray he improves quickly.

Pat’s neighbor, Johnny Belgard, is still hospitalized at Ochsner in New Orleans.  He continues to have periodic set-backs as he continues to fight.  Please pray for Johnny, Susan, and the other members of the family.

Larry Watts has pneumonia.  Pray for him, the medical staff, and for his family.

Mrs. Pauline Lea also has pneumonia.  Pray for her sweet family too.

Pray for the Dean family as they have a memorial service today for Patsy Bennefield.

Mrs. Willine Howell is now receiving hospice care.  Please pray for this special lady with a large family of descendants.

Gwenette Kent Carley Dixon has a newborn in the Dixon family who was born February 2nd.  Emma has been very sick and in the hospital at Vanderbilt the whole time.  Please pray for Emma and all her family.

Ira Cleveland was moved to step-down.  As you pray for him, please pray for his wife, three daughters, and their families.

Ira Cleveland is still very sick and in ICU, but off the vent.  Let’s thank God for this improvement.

Janice Wallace Bonch has  improved enough to be moved to a regular room.

There are a number of hurting or grieving families in our community.  Let’s pray for each one as they come to mind.

Yesterday was a difficult weather day.  Thankfully, we in this area did not have any significant problems, but hundreds of people in areas close to our area did.  Please pray for them and then work to help they in they way God wants you to help – prayer, finances, clean-up, rebuilding, yard work, food, etc.  Ask.  God will lead you.

I’m thankful to hear that several local churches have new staff members this week.  May God richly bless both the staff members and the churches.

Harrell Sharkey got a good report from his doctor.  He’s enjoying his grandkids and anticipating lots of good days ahead.  He is thankful to God and to all of you who prayed for him.

Mr. Philip Harrell said his sister-in-law, Mary, is about the same, which is not good.  Please continue to pray for God’s mercy.
