  • Read the Bible – II Chronicles 9-12 & Psalm 73
  • “Young” Ladies Birthday Party – one week from today
  • FBC, Kentwood has a workday planned for Saturday at 9 A.M. Take gloves, tools, and a willing attitude.
  • Update on the backpack challenge given by Bro. Darryl Sunday:  All 33 papers were taken and money was given to pack 14 additional backpacks.  That’s 47 children who will now have needed school supplies!
  • Operation Christmas Child – We could use some more pens and pencils for the shoeboxes. Sunday, we will be collecting $1.00 calculators.  Check the area dollar stores.  I’ve found them in blue, green, pink, etc.  Black is always good.  They will last for years, so this is a good purchase.  Mark our packing date on your calendar.  It will be Saturday, November 4th this year.

Who will you check on today?  What will you do for others today?  Who will you add to this prayer list?

Sunday

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,

though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food,

though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,

yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Josiah Huckaby, son of Job and KK

Josiah is 5 months old as of yesterday…he has been doing really well. They decided to put a nephrostomy tube in on Friday to drain one of his kidneys because of an obstruction from a kidney stone. His other kidney has an obstruction that will require reconstructive surgery in the future. The tube ended up coming out on Sunday & they were going to have to replace it on Monday. They decided to do another ultrasound to see how that kidney was looking…and PRAISE GOD it has improved enough that they won’t have to replace the nephrostomy tube for now. As of right now, the goal is to wean his oxygen down to home settings so that we can start discussing coming home. He has been staying awake all day (he can’t stand to miss any of the action) & sleeping all night…hope he keeps that up. 😉 He loves kicking his feet constantly while he’s awake & he’s starting to smile again! He also loves sitting up & watching people. He wiggles so much the nurses are always having to make sure he hasn’t wiggled to the bottom of the bed…they are constantly having to scoot him back up. Day 155 in the NICU has been an awesome day for Josiah! God is so good!!!

Mrs. Mimi Sneed was able to go home from a friend’s house where she was staying.  She did have to go for more medical tests yesterday, but the results were good.  Pray for her as she recovers from her accident.

Bettye Fussell is moving ahead to her next round of treatment which will begin Monday.  Pray for her to have strength and endurance for this phase of her “battle”.  She certainly has faced this journey with a positive attitude.  Keep her in your prayers.

Thank-you for praying for Jennie as she traveled.  She’ll be able to speak to many of you at church Sunday or the following Sunday.

Friday

Do not be anxious about anything,

but in every situation,

by prayer and petition,

with thanksgiving,

present your requests to God.

And the peace of God,

which transcends all understanding,

will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

~Philippians 4:6-7~

Wednesday night, after prayer meeting, mission’s class, and youth,  we had a visitor at church.  It was Nathan Bell.  He thanks the adults there who had been great influences on his life, people who encouraged, even pushed him in the right direction.  Nathan has served on three foreign fields and hopefully is moving from the west coast to the east coast with his family.  He spoke of the influence of FBC, Kentwood on his life.  I can say it was a blessing to have been part of those he chose to see that night.  Thank-you, Nathan, for being a man who showed your appreciation this week.  May God continue to watch over you and your family.

Mrs. Ruby Dillon continues to not feel her best.  She will see her doctor Tuesday.  Please continue to pray for her.

Mr. John Phillips will be having double knee replacement today.  Pray all goes well and that he will be able to walk again when his physical therapy is completed.

Update on Josiah Huckaby, infant son of Job and KK:

Josiah has been in the NICU for 133 days now. He has had quite a rough time since our last update. He was in critical condition with no improvement from Thursday until Wednesday but we serve a mighty God & he began to make very small improvements Wednesday night. Yesterday they were able to start weaning the percentage of oxygen he is on…which it has been several weeks since he has been under 100% on his oxygen. During this time his pulmonary hypertension got a lot worse but it has also improved since Friday. He is such a strong little boy & has continued to fight hard through every low he’s been through. He’s definitely going to be one tough kid! Thanks for all the prayers & texts!!! God is so good & we can’t praise Him enough for all He has done for our little family!!!

“Miss” Ruby Dillon did not get test results yet.  Please pray for her and Mr. “Cete”.
