Jayden Nicole Lang, infant daughter of Lyndsey Ann Lang of Tickfaw, died at 8:00PM on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the North Oaks Medical Center. Graveside Services will be held at the Arcola-Roseland Cemetery on Saturday, February 23, 2008, at 1:00PM. Survived by: Mother, Lyndsey Ann Lange, Grandparents, Melissa & David Connelly, Rodney “Buff” & Marie Lange, Great-Grandparents, Jim & Barbara Benningfield, Gordon & Brenda Lange, Uncle, R.J. Lange, Numerous Great Aunts & Uncles, Numerous Cousins. Beverly Ann Swenson
(January 2, 1956 – February 19, 2008)

 

Beverly Ann Swenson, 52, of Council Grove, KS, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS. Beverly was born January 2, 1956 in Jackson, MS to Ivy Lea and Vera Mae Jenkins Miller. She attended Southeastern Louisiana University and received her BSN degree. She married Gary Swenson on March 3, 1990 in Council Grove. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Council Grove. Beverly enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and traveling. One of her favorite things to do was bringing seafood from Louisiana and cooking it for all her family and friends. She loved cats and dogs and enjoyed spending time with her dog Max. She worked as a nurse in Louisiana and also as a home health nurse in Manhattan and Emporia. Survivors include her husband, Gary Swenson; father, Ivy Lea “Butch” Miller of Kentwood, LA; 2 step-sons, Matthew Swenson & wife, Jamie and Mitchell Swenson & wife, Rene, of Topeka, KS; 4 grandchildren, Avary, Aidan, Cora, and Caden Swenson; 2 brothers, Michael Miller & wife, Polly and Larry Miller & wife, Wanda of Kentwood, LA; 6 nieces, 1 nephew, 3 great-nieces and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vera Miller and father-in-law & mother-in-law, Adrian and Violet Swenson. Visitation will be at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday and from 8 a.m. until funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Services conducted by Rev. Joey Miller. Interment will be at Line Creek Cemetery, Line Creek, LA. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to American Diabetes Association.

Carol Ann Carter, 49 years old of Tickfaw, LA, died Thursday, February 21, 2008 in North Oaks Medical Center. Carol was born on Wednesday, June 18, 1958 in Independence. She was a Secretary at Midway School for 21 years. Surviving are ; husband, Mitchell Ray Carter; daughter & son-in-law, Keri Rivers Puls and Travis Puls Sr.; son & daughter-in-law, Ryan C. Rivers Sr. and Mindy Rivers; son, Dustin Ray Carter; mother, Frances Leto Rocha; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Rivers Jr., Layne Rivers, Travis Puls Jr.and Noah Rivers; 3 sisters, Linda Alessi, Debbie Cascio and Jeanette Patanella; Uncle Joe Leto; Carols dog Champ Carter; mother and father-in-law, Jimmy Ray and Lavearn Mills Carter. She is preceded in death by ; father, Pete Rocha ; grandparents, Annie Costa and Joe Leto Sr.. Friends will be received Sunday, February 24, 2008, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6p.m. until 9:00p.m. and on Monday from 8:00a.m. until 9:30a.m. Services will be held at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Monday, February 25, 2008 at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow in the Colonial Cemetery, Independence, Louisiana 70443.

Carol Carter died early yesterday morning. (Donna Shaw’s sister-in-law) Wake is Sunday night at McKneely’s in Hammond 6-9 and funeral at Mater Dolorosa on Monday morning, not sure of time.

Nathaniel “Nate” Shropshire Sr.

 

A resident of Baker and a native of Osyka, Miss., he died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at 3:45 a.m. at Lane Regional Medical Center, Zachary. He was 63. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 23, from noon until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by Mark Dillard, pastor. Interment in Winnfield Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife, Marzettie Berry Shropshire; daughter, Sylvia Daniels; five sons, Aaron Shropshire, Nathaniel Shropshire Jr., Antione Deemer, Lawrence Berry and Troy Berry; three sisters, Annie Coleman, Rose Shropshire and Mary Owens; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and godchildren, Juanicka Trusclair, Karlencia Calvin, Jericka James and Tamika Piper. Mr. Joe died at 6:30AM, Thursday, February 21, 2008 at his residence in Roseland. Visiation at the McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 8:00AM until Religious Services at 10:00AM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Services Conducted by Bro. Gary Martinez. Interment in the Hughes Cemetery. Survived by 2 Daughters: Patricia Sparacello, Loranger, Elaine Weaver, Amite. 4 Sons: Joseph “Joe” Rick, Jr., DeRidder, Dorman A. “Drew” Rick, Sr., Loranger, Tennis L. Rick, Roseland, Chris A. Rick, Kentwood. Preceded in death by his wife: Melva Hughes Rick, Grandson, Scottie Rick. Mr. Joe was an avid Hunter & Fisherman.

Mr. Joe Rick of Roseland passed away last night. His granddaughter told me, “At least he got saved”! Arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Larry Miller’s sister, Beverly, passed away. The funeral will be near her home with burial here.
