The Lord’s Day

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

~2 Peter 3:9~

Church services are available in person or online for those who cannot attend in person. Church services start at 9:15 this morning with Sunday School. Morning worship is at 10:30 and is available in person and online. Evening worship, youth service, and children’s practice for the Christmas program all begin at 6:00. The evening worship service is online. You are invited to attend if you are not involved in services at another church.

Be sure to be in contact with those who are homebound. You have no idea how they feel without the contact of neighbors and friends unless you have been there yourself. Pick up the phone and ask if they are up to a visit. You can even ask if they would like to visit outdoors. Take them something special. Many would appreciated some church literature and an update on church happenings and friends. Many of them do not have access to local online services and miss their church greatly.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.

Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.

His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Operation Christmas Child

We are working to pay for shipping our 400 boxes. That’s $9.00 per box which is a real deal because they ship in bulk. It also pays for some literature that tells about Jesus. If you think $9.00 per box is a big price, just ask me what I have paid to mail shoebox-size packages internationally to my daughter and her family. You can turn your gifts in during the Sunday morning service or at the church office Monday – Friday.

We will begin packing shoeboxes soon. We will pack one group at a time at our packing parties.

Operation Christmas Child – Many thanks to the ladies of the church who make the wonderful totes that are placed in each box every year. They work for months getting them ready. They love what they are doing and have made totes for the 400 shoeboxes we plan to send this year AND have already made 250 more for next year. What a blessing they are to the shoebox ministry! Many thanks to these ladies.

Mission/Ministry projects at the church and in other churches involve many people. They each have their own focus. It’s wonderful to have many people involved in showing love and concern for people. May the love of God flow through each one in the lives that are touched.

I am thankful for the people who work in the soundroom to provide us the opportunity to participate in church services from our home. David was hospitalized when the first service was broadcast, yet we were able to get it on my phone. Since that time, we have seen more services on my computer than in person. Thank-you to those who faithfully work so we can be a part of our church even when we are not there. We many not get to tell you “Thank-you” each week, but we are very appreciative. Many others feel the same as we do.

Georgia Barnette Offering for Louisiana – Day 7

“Listening in Lake Charles”

Today is a good day to shop for some groceries for the children at the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home. We are only asked to do this once a year. If you have not already done so or if you feel led to do so again, today is a good day to do that shopping. Leave your purchases just inside the west door of the fellowship hall. It is a good idea to pack your groceries in a box, especially is you purchase items by the case, or to double bag them.

Today’s prayer focus – Let’s pray for the safety and good health of all those who are working to repair or clean up after Hurricane Ida.

Today is a good day to invite someone to church with you in person or online.
