Pray for the teachers and students in our area public schools as they begin the school year again this morning.

Jerry Doughty had a fall and is in ICU at M.D. Anderson.

We are in Houston for Jerry’s treatment. He has a bad fall and was taken to ER they did tests and he will have a few bad days with his leg When we got back to the Clinic his BP went really low So he is in the hospital. Now and. They are placing him in ICU to carefully monitor throughout night. Possibly could be heart problems. Right now he’s ok. Please say a prayer for him. ~Judy Battles Doughty~

Mrs. Linda “Nana” Sue Cain, 72, of Hammond, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at her residence.

Mrs. Linda was born in Roseland, LA, on September 18, 1949 and was the daughter of Eloise Simon Cain and Bobbie Koen Cain. She was a woman with the biggest heart and found joy in giving to others. Anyone that met her would never forget her. She was the type of person that always made a wonderful first impression. She loved her family and loved big. She was a loving mother, Nana, great-Nana, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by one son, Jeff Van and Jennifer of McComb, MS; one daughter Tracy Johnson of Tylertown, MS; three adopted children, Michael, Russell, Jr., and Angel Lester; one brother, Clyde Cain of Houston, TX; three sisters, Patsy Williams of Port Allen, LA, Betty Jean Bossier of LaPlace, LA, and Sharon Cain of LaPlace, LA; six grandchildren, Cherish Wicker, Chelsea Wicker, Courtney Jones and Hunter, Elizabeth Dumas and Russell, Meghan Van, and Elaine Van; seven great-grandchildren, Serenity Cruise, Jacob Kyzar, Kynlea Jones, Isabell Jones, Dawson Herring, Easton Herring, and James Russell, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 9AM until time of memorial service at 11AM at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS with Bro. Jeff Van officiating.

Early yesterday morning, David and I delivered out purchases to the church for the LA Baptist Children’s Home. We found lots of groceries there for pick-up. FBC, Kentwood, we are thankful for you being so generous. Thanks!

Operation Christmas Child

We will not have any additional work days for OCC this year, but will begin to look ahead to packing the shoeboxes in the next couple months. Our focus now will be on collecting the funds to pay postage on our shoeboxes.
