Faye Carney is fighting covid. and needs our prayers. Her sister, Ruthie Dykes, passed away last night. She also had covid.

Eddie Strickland, 88, went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2021, in Kentwood, LA.

Mr. Eddie was the son of Francis and Mae Strickland.  He was a veteran in the United States Army, where he was a medic overseas.  He was a member of Rising Glory Masonic Lodge from 1960 to present day.  He was a deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served in several different ways. In his younger days, he loved to hunt and fish.  He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; spouses, Nettie Strickland, Elizabeth Strickland, and Katherine Strickland; two sons, Eddie Earl Strickland and Bobby Strickland; one grandson, Rodney Strickland; and two daughters in law, Rhonda Strickland and Tessie Strickland.

He is survived by two sons, Tommy Louis Strickland of Kentwood, LA and Ronnie Strickland (Verda) of Kentwood, LA; one daughter, Deborah Strickland of Tylertown, MS; two step children, Ramona York (Daniel) and Teri Easley (Donnie); six grandchildren, Joseph, Timothy, Charlie, Trenton, Colton, Jennifer and Dawn; seventeen great grandchildren, Lance, Cody, Duston, Hailey, Anna, Shelby, Whitney, Nathaniel, Easton, Astrid, Aubrey, Abel, Sarah, Levi, Adrian, Audrey and Chelsea; two special friends, Tinsey DeBlanc and Eldwin “Cooter” Meyn, and a host of family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Osyka, MS from 12PM until time of service at 2PM. Bro. Donnie Easley and Bro. Richie Fortenberry will officiate. Masonic rights will be given at the beginning of the service.  Burial will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery

Today’s Prayer Focus – Pray for those who are still recovering from Hurricane Ida. They might have damage to their homes, vehicles, outbuildings, or equipment, trees down, services still unavailable, etc. Some people have also lost jobs because of Ida. Pray for them to find good jobs to replace the one they lost.
