Lula Mae McLin Lombardo

August 04, 1918 – September 21, 2017

A resident of Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at her home. She was born August 4, 1918 in Bluff Creek, LA and was 99 years of age. Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Frank S. Lombardo; parents, Emmitt and Lena McLin; a brother, John E. McLin; two grandchildren, Paul and Paula Lombardo; and great grandchild Isabella Lombardo. Survived by sons, Frank Lombardo and wife, Ellen, and Joe Lombardo and wife, Catherine; grandchildren, Tony Lombardo and wife, Laura, and Joseph Lombardo, Angela L. Cernich and husband, Oscar, and Joey Lombardo and wife, Nikki; great grandchildren include Nick and Sydney Lombardo, Max and Samantha Lombardo, Ella, Emilia, and Elliott Lombardo, Austin Wascom; and great great grandchild, Gabriel Wascom. She grew up and lived in Pine Grove, La. and was a long time friend of Pine Grove Methodist Church. She was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite, La. Also a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas (honored as oldest living member), the Overload Quilting Club and the Piney Woods Quilting Guild in Pine Grove, La. A special thanks to the loving care provided by her devoted sitters. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Full of Grace Inc. in Amite, La. Pamela Easley Viator Connelly
(April 19, 1963 – September 20, 2017) 

Pamela Grace Easley Viator Connelly, of Osyka, passed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father in the early morning hours on September 20, 2017, at her home.

Pamela was born in Baton Rouge, LA, April 19, 1963, to Bobby Easley and Grace Ann McDaniel Estess Taylor.

Pamela was a 1981 graduate of Parklane Academy. She was an independent dispatcher for the JOWIN Company and was a hard-working, dedicated employee who took care of her customers and drivers.

Anyone who knew Pamela knew she loved her family, her flowers and loved her LSU Tigers, win or lose. She had a contagious smile and loving spirit that touched everyone she met. She loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. She never met a stranger, and was always putting others before herself. She was a member of First Baptist Church Magnolia.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Mark A. Viator, Jr. and grandparents, Grace and W.H. McDaniel and Gladys and James Clarence Easley.

Pamela leaves behind her husband of 22 years, Geoffrey Connelly; daughters, Allison Viator and Christie Viator; three sons, Randall Connelly, Mark Anthony “Tony” Viator, III and Dustin “Dusty” Viator; her mother, Grace Ann Taylor and husband, Randolph; her father, Bobby Easley and wife, Dianne; two grandchildren, Madilyn Ray and Christian Mixon; one brother Rusty Easley; a sister, Ashley Brister and husband, Josh; a special nephew, Craig Louviere and wife, Melanie; a special father-in-law, Mark A. Viator, Sr. and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends who will never forget her gentle spirit.

Visitation is Friday at First Baptist Church in Magnolia from 5PM until 8PM and continues Saturday from 9AM until services at 10AM with Rev. Joe Gunter officiating. Burial will be in Terry’s Creek Cemetery under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit.

Pallbearers are, Luke Snow, Thad Snow, Brandon Drury, Craig Louviere, Nelson Ott and Matthew Kleppinger Honorary pallbearers are Sam Estess and Richard Paul Cutrer.

Mrs. Anne Hurst is in St. Helena Hospital.  Please keep her in your prayers,

Mrs. Theople Hurst is home and glad to be there.  She thanks you for your prayers.

Dennis Travis is better and possible can come home tomorrow.  He will be seeing additional doctors.

Aubrey McMillian had a lawn mower to turn over on him about a week ago.  He is still healing, but thankful it was not much worse.  Please add him to your prayer list.

Donna Fay Miller’s heart ablation is scheduled for the 12th.

Pray for Miss Fay Shoemaker as she does pre-op for her heart cauterization.

Mr. Charles Miller, Bro. Darry’s dad, had some complications yesterday and was still in ICU.  Please continue to pray for Mr. Charles, his family, and the medical staff.

Last night at 9:30, Bobbie Magee called to say her sister, Mrs. Theople Hurst, was at Hood Memorial where it was determined she needed gall bladder surgery.  There was a question about where she was going for the surgery.  I’ll post later with that information.

Please continue to pray for and support the hurricane victims and those who are working to help them.

 

 

Don’t forget to bring your food and cleaning supplies in for the LA Baptist Children’s Home to church today.  They will be picked up early in the morning.  Tonight, will not be too late.

Revival begins this morning at FBC, Kentwood.  Worship service is at 10:30 this morning.  A nursery will be provided for all services.  There will be no classes for children tonight or Wednesday night so that the children can participate in revival services.

The Georgia Barnett Offering for Louisiana missions is being collected in all area churches.  Please support this offering.  Disaster Relief is one of the benefactors of the gifts we give through Georgia Barnett.

Operation Christmas Child –  Today, we are collecting small toy trucks, cars, tractors, and planes.  Next week, we will be collecting wash cloths and soap.

This week is Third Thursday at the Cabin.  We are looking forward to seeing you at the cabin Thursday.  If you have been considering us, come on.  We begin at 6:30.

Please pray for Mr. Charles Miller, father of Bro. Darryl, who had three stents placed in his heart at Covington yesterday.

David had carpal tunnel surgery yesterday at Ochsner in Kenner.

 

 

The Two Rivers Associational Harvest Revival will be tonight at Hillsdale Baptist Church at 6:30.  Everyone is encouraged to attend.

 

 

The revival at Kentwood will begin in the morning.  You are also invited to attend the services of the revival which will extend through Wednesday.

Donna Fay Miller made another trip to see her doctor and is scheduled to go back Tuesday.  She seems to be facing a heart procedure, an ablation, soon.  Keep her in your prayers, please.

Mrs. Ruby Dillon has had a number of good days, but today was not one of them.  Please pray tomorrow is a good day.

Betty Simpson‘s tests today worked out well.  She has one more test to get results from.  Betty thanks you for praying.

 

 

Reminders:

  1. There will be NO Bible study today.
  2. The truck from the LA Baptist Children’s Home will be here early Monday morning to pick up our donations.  If you have something to send, please be sure to get it to the church Sunday.
  3. The Two Rivers Baptist Association has disaster relief teams volunteering to help with the recent hurricanes.  If you would like help, please send bleach, hammers, square shovels, work gloves, etc.  Thanks-you!
  4. Next week, David and I will host the monthly Third Thursday gathering at the cabin at 6:30.  We look forward to seeing many of you there.
  5. Sunday, the children will have Bible drill class at 6:30.  The children are learning so much that will be valuable for the remainder of their lives.
  6. Wednesday, when we have missions class, please remind you children and grandchildren to wear their new vests.
  7. OCC items we are collecting this week – miniature cars, trucks, and tractors.
  8. OCC items we will be collecting the following week – washcloths and soap.

George Cutrer of Osyka is now home after nine days of hospitalization and more procedures than he expected.  Pray for rest and recouperation!  Pray for Ruth as she continues her role as chief caregiver.

Betty Simpson has been having some outpatient tests done this morning. Pray for her as she has another heart test done this morning.

Phillip Strickland had an outpatient biopsy done yesterday.  Pray for him and his family as they await results.

Please continue to pray for Donna Fay Miller and her A-fib problem.

Coming October 1st, a new program, a new program for children, Worship KidStyle. It will take place at FBC on Sundays and Wednesdays at 6:00. It will be like a mini VBS, according to Bro. Wendell.  Component will be Bible Story, Kid Worship, Missions, Crafts, and Recreation.

 

Operation Christmas Child will be collecting mini trucks, cars, and tractors Sunday.  Thank-you to all who are participating and looking forward to the packing party on November 4th.

 

The fall-food round-up truck for the LA Baptist Children’s Home will be at the church first thing Monday morning to collect the food items we are sending to them . Some suggestions:

  • Body wash
  • Bottled juice
  • Children’s cereal
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Cooking oil
  • Freezer bags
  • Hand soap/Sanitizer
  • Naapkins
  • Onion soup mix
  • Pop Tarts
  • Rice
  • Velveeda cheese

Bring your items to the stairwell area at the office entrance to the church.

 

The Friday Morning Bible Study will NOT meet this week.

 

We will have an ongoing collection of items for Disaster Relief in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida.  Some ladies have been contacted to serve on the food preparation team.  Men have been called in to help with tree removal and mud-out.  We have teams “on the ground and working”!

Sunday night I woke up with severe chest pains. Tammy brought me to Southwest Hospital in McComb Ms. to get checked out. The EKG determined I was not having a heart attack but they kept me for observation. This morning I had a stress test and an echocardiogram. The stress test showed some abnormalities so the Cardiologist has scheduled me for a Heart Cath In the morning. I would appreciate the prayers

Darin J. Fontz

September 15, 1966 – September 9, 2017

Darin J. Fontz, 50, a native of Kentwood, LA and resident of Thibodaux, LA passed away on September 9, 2017.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Co-Cathedral, Thibodaux, LA from 8:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am. The burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Thibodaux, LA.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Celeste R. Fontz; daughter, Lauren Fontz; parents, Diane and Dallas Strickland; sisters, Jill Brister and husband, Robert and Jodee Corkern and husband, Brian; father and mother-in-law, Judge David and Connie Richard; sisters-in-law, Lisa R.Richard and husband, Michael and Michelle R. Chiasson and husband, Mark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joel Dowell Fontz; grandparents, Russell and Nell Lewis, and Albert and Mary Frances Fontz.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to St. Genevieve Catholic School and EDW High School in Darin Fontz’s memory.

Donna Fay Miller told me yesterday that she spent several days in the hospital last week.  I told her that explained why I wasn’t able to catch up with her.  Please pray for her as she continues to face A-fib issues and pneumonia.

Juanita Pritchett is home and ready to resume her regular activities.  Thank-you for praying as she had a heart procedure last week.

Mr. I. W. Simmons is undergoing tests to determine how to battle his new health concern.  Pray for him, his family, and for the doctors.

Please continue to pray for David’s brother, Jimmy Alford, as he awaits additional tests.

Continue to pray for those recovering from Hurricane Harvey and those facing Hurricane Irma today in Florida and southeast USA.

Summer Clemons Blades made it back to Kentwood after she and her daughter, Megan, faced Hurricane Irma while on a small island last week.  We thank God for protecting them and many other.

 

 

 

The youth did a very good job of leading worship yesterday at FBC, Kentwood.  We had a full house.  The most important thing is that two people made professions of faith.

 

 

WMU meeting – 10 A.M. this morning at FBC, Amite.  Y’all come.  We will be focusing of the week of prayer for Louisiana Missions and the Georgia Barnett Offering.
