How do you feel about your Christian friends?

Dan Turner posted an update.

10_19_15 for blogI created an Excel spreadsheet, so that, daily, I can enter subjective scores regarding the spasticity in my left lower extremity (LLE) and left upper extremity (LUE) during the titration process.  Using these data points, I can graph, see over time, and share with my doctor and nurse practitioner what I’m experiencing during the titration process.  On 10/16/15, I added a data point for general functionality of my LLE & LUE (green line).  If things go well, the red & blue lines should continue to trend downward and the green line should trend upward.  I thought it was interesting to look back and see the progress.  And yes, I had a brain injury, but I’m still a nerd!

I don’t know if the graph will come through, but the green line is moving northward and the red and blue lines moving downward.

David Ramsey has not communicated since his health issues overseas, but a friend contacted him and received a brief reply.  It said that he was better, but still has a long way to go.

Jane Wickham came home last night.  Then, she couldn’t sleep!  I’m sure she will be going to see David at Ochsner, NO as soon as she can.  Pray for Jane to continue to improve and not have any more complications.

Bill Frazier was taken to North Oaks yesterday because of shortness of breath.  Pray for Bill and his family.

Scarlett W. Broussard will have surgery on her  arm at 8:30 this morning in Hammond.  Pray for a successful surgery and a complete recovery.

Flo Hatcher made it home and loves the way her room has been redone for her.  Pray for her caregivers as they sit with her.  Pray for her daughter, Julee, as she tries to teach and be a caregiver.

Barbara Hutchinson has been moved to Hammond to get some physical therapy before coming home.  Pray for Barbara as she endures these difficult post-surgery days.

Please pray for Lisa W. Carruth who will require treatment after her recent surgery.  Pray  for her family.  May they know the presence of God walking each step with them.

Pray for Scarlett W. Broussard who broke her yard in an accident at home.  She is the daughter of Margie and Rufus Williams.  Surgery is scheduled for 8:30 in the morning.

Pray for Hannah S. Wilkinson and her unborn baby, Rivers.  Pray for the medical people working with Hannah as they treat her.

Pray for Josh Yarborough as he awaits hip surgery and his wife, Lauren, as she prepares to give birth to their son, Luke.

Mrs. Flo Hatcher did not get to go home Monday.  Maybe, today is the day….

The last word I have on Mansell Stinson is that the blood flow in his foot is better.  Pray he continues to do well.

Jane Wickham is doing better and should be able to come home soon, possibly as early as today.  Keep praying for her.

Connor Corkern is still at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans.  He is doing much better.  Thank God for his improvement.

Mrs. Flo Hatcher is a little better.  Thank God for that.  She will possibly be moved home today.  Pray for her situation to be stable and for each caregiver.  Taking care of “Miss” Flo at home is going to be a big responsibility.

We will postpone our regular Bible study Friday for a week and work on preparing for the Operation Christmas Child Packing Party.  I’m so thankful for ladies who are willing to do so much ministry/missions work.  They are the best!

 

The week got off to a good start yesterday.  Pray for it to continue that way.  Today is the day for the quarterly WMU meeting at New Zion this morning.  I want Him to be glorified, people to be encouraged, and missions to be the focus of our thoughts.

This week is going to require a lot of prayer by me as I strive to let Him use me in various ways.  If you find it in your heart, please pray for me this week asking that God is able to work through me and not my working on my own efforts.  That prayer would mean so much to me!

David Wickham Update

From Cissy about David:
We have made it over one huge hurdle!  They took him off the vent this morning!  Praise God for that.  He is on oxygen and will take some time , but both of us are celebrating this accomplishment. Hopefully, they will begin getting him up soon so he can leave ICU and transfer to the post surgery floor.  I know without a doubt God has given us strength this week to endure this agonizing experience.  Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and continue lifting us up for the days ahead.

Jane Wickham is at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary and looking forward to less hurting and getting home to Kentwood.

Velma Anthony has had three weeks of pain now and is waiting on additional tests to determine the problem and the treatment needed.  Please keep her in your prayers.

Barbara Hutchinson is looking forward to getting back to this area.  She has made plans for her caregivers for the coming weeks.  Let’s pray God has similar plans for her next steps.

Dr. Stan Statham asked that we pray for the family of Rev. Troy Bankston, a former pastor of Mr. Nebo Baptist Church, at the time of his death.

Connor Corkern was found to have pneumonia.  The family is very thankful for the quick response of medical staff who assessed Connor’s situation and got him to Children’s Hospital so quickly and for those who immediately began to pray and sent out the need on their prayer chains.

Mrs. Flo Hatcher seems to be having a little relief from some of the problems she has experienced this week.  Pray for a good day today.

Clark Wilson is a son-in-law of John and Inez Bond of the Terry’s Creek community.  Clark has been very ill.  The family including nine children, who dedicate themselves to singing and serving God, will host a gospel singing Saturday at Terry’s Creek Baptist Church at 7 P.M. to help defray some of the medical expenses that have accumulated.  You are invited to join them in worship Saturday.

Please continue to pray for Kerry Blades and Casey Blades and their families.

Jane Wickham was admitted to the hospital in Baton Rouge suddenly yesterday and required knee surgery for an infection.  She should be there through the rest of the week. Pray for Jane and her family with two siblings hospitalized.

Connor Corkern started having respiratory problems the were not corrected with oxygen. He was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Mrs. Catherine Yarborough is  still in Greensburg working to get a little stronger.  She surely would appreciate your prayers.

Officer Eddie Murphy who worked at KHS when I first taught there has a brain tumor. Prayers are needed.

Chinero Fowler’s dad, Buddy Harrison, had a successful surgery, but had problems with anesthesia for a couple days.  He should be hospitalized for the remainder for the  week.

Mrs. Gloria Boone has been ill.  Your prayers will be appreciated.

Mansell Stinson is hospitalized with a blood flow issue.  Surgery is planned for today.

Mrs. Barbara Hutchinson’s back surgery went well yesterday.  She should be home in a few days.  Keep praying all goes well.

Frieda Jones will have her surgery in about a month.  Heart problems complicate the cancer treatment.  Please say special prayers for her.

So today was our first time to see Koltyn’s Neuro Opthomologist, something I’ve been eagerly awaiting for quite sometime now. She confirmed that Koltyn’s vision is very very weak, probably a 20/800 in his left eye which means he can only see just large objects or fingers directly in front of his face. The right eye is much weaker than that and probably only seeing black & white just like a new born baby. She is sending us to have a VEP (Visual Evoke Potential) test done at Children’s which will involve him being sedated. A VEP measures the electrical activity in the vision system. When light from an image enters your eye, it is converted into electrical energy at the retina and travels through the optic nerve to the visual cortex of the brain which processes vision. This can give us clues about the working of the visual pathway from the eye along the optic nerve to the brain.
He will be near sighted and will eventually have to wear glasses but, in the meantime we have to help him stimulate the optic nerve by shining a bright flashlight around the right eye everyday.
All this time we all thought he could see fairly well because he loves to watch tv and Paw Patrol on his iPad and always watches the DVD player while in the car. Once the volume was turned down the outcome changed completely. No eye movement.😢 Just another slight set back we weren’t as prepared as we thought we were to hear. His Doctor seems very optimistic that he will regain better eye sight with the right therapy and stimulation. It is just very heartbreaking to hear this news today but, once again with God on our side and the amazing support team we have we will overcome this bump in the road.

Macy Gueldner – Written by her mother, Mary Catherine about 1 A.M.

Macy is on the way to the hospital. She has a fever of 103.5 and is vomiting. She was shaking uncontrollably, like she did when she had viral sepsis, but she settled down after a few minutes. Her eyes are not focusing like normal and are crossing more than usual, but we know from experience that it’s caused from the high fever.

I’m fairly certain that this is a stomach virus, but even something as simple as this can become serious because she is immunocompromised.

I wish the four of us could live in a bubble for the next 8 months, until all of this is over.

David Wickham – The surgery was lengthy as expected.  A chemo bath of the entire stomach area was done as part of the process.  Let’s pray for David, Cissy, and other family members as they attend to David’s needs as he recovers and heals from surgery.

Jane Wickham – David’s sister is having some issues with her knee again.

(Written yesterday)  My knee was doing so good. It was fine for church drove to New Orleans. Last night it swelled it hurts to bend it or just trying to pick it up. By the time I got home all my joints hurt. It feels like I just had surgery. Please dear lord take it back were it was.

Pray that slowing down will be possible and helpful.

Sue Ellen Russell Pearson

Sue Ellen and I went to school together.  She lived in Russelltown.  She has been away from this area for many years.  She is bravely deal with cancer. She had chemo yesterday and will have radiation today.  Pray for this brave lady.

Charlene Addison of the Montpelier area is a WMU friend and co-worker.  Charlene’s daughter had back surgery in NYC yesterday.  Let’s pray the  surgery was successful.

Martha Griffith had a procedure done yesterday.  Let’s pray it was successful and the recovery time will be one of complete healing.

Barbara Hutchinson will have back surgery tomorrow in Baton Rouge.  Let’s pray this is successful and gives her some pain relief.

 

Baptist Disaster Relief Teams, including a local team, have been deployed to South Carolina.  Pray for the work, both physical and spiritual, they are/will be doing.

(I think these two verses give us all something to work to improve this week!)

David Wickham’s surgery will begin soon.  I trust your prayers for him have already started.  How about trying something special for him today?  Write his name on three pieces of paper and put them in three different places you see in your house often.  For example, put one on the door to the refrigerator.  As you see the papers today, pray for David, his family, and the medical staff.

Mrs. Flo Hatcher and her family seem to be on a roller-coaster ride.  Please pray for them as they face a new week.

Susan Rimes was able to be at Sunday School and church for the first time in a couple months.  Please pray for relief from her problems

Mrs. Catherine Yarborough is still at Greensburg.  Pray with her that she can go home soon.

Disaster Relief Teams are being sent to South Carolina to help people overcome the problems from the recent rain/floods.  Thank God for those who have made themselves available.  Pray for protection for each volunteer as they serve in the name of Jesus.  If you are trained in mud-out, you are especially needed.  If you are not trained for disaster relief, make a decision now to be trained the next time the opportunity arrises.

Third Thursday at the Cabin

We will gather at the cabin at 6:30 Thursday for another evening of Christian fellowship, a meal, a devotional, and some music.  If these things might bring encouragement to you, please join us.

Washcloths, toothpaste. and hair brushes are the items we need the most to complete our shoeboxes.  Please help us get enough for all the boxes we are sending this year.

We need stamps for Christmas cards for local prisoners.  Please buy stamps by the books and turn in.  I already have the cards.  We’ll be collecting these for about six weeks.

How wonderful it was to be at The Lord’s Church last night for our associational meeting! Not only did we get to hear/see reports from various groups, hear a pastor from Florida share, hear a combined choir, and enjoy some refreshments, but we also enjoyed seeing many pastor friends and members of area churches.  May God bless the effort of our people as we strive to serve Him better this year than ever before.  May we do this through a renewal of our prayer efforts and then, our actions.
