Joe Moore
(June 16, 1950 – April 10, 2013)

A resident of Roseland, died at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 16, 1950 in Amite and was 62 years of age. He was a retired Sheriff’s Deputy from Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, was the former owner of Moore’s Refrigeration and later worked at Smitty’s Supply. He was a member of the Tangipahoa Parish Coon Hunting Association and the Bear Creek Hunting Club. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Marsiglia Moore, Roseland; 2 step-children, Vincent Marsiglia, Jr., Tickfaw and Deborah Shelton, Hammond; 3 step-grandchildren, Amy Shelton, Bradley Shelton and Vincent Marsiglia, III; 1 step-great-grandchild, Khloe Shelton; mother, Betty Moore, Roseland; 2 sisters, Deborah Rowdon and Frankie Fontenot; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, Cleo Joseph Moore, Jr.; sister, Judy Hammons. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Services conducted by Fr. Mark Beard. Jeff Tolar’s surgery went well.  He is up walking and meeting the progress goals set for him.

Mrs. Susie Wales

Mom is doing very well with her hip replacement recovery. The therapist keeps telling her to slow down. She is moving extremely well and has really experienced no pain. She does have an upper respiratory infection that she came home from Rehab with. It is slowly getting better. Her appetite is good and getting better. Time for the total healing to take place is our only real concern at this point.
Please continue to pray for her as it has made all the difference in her recovery and attitude.

Joe Moore of Arcola passed away last night.  Please pray for the family.

The family would like to have the wake tomorrow night with the funeral Saturday.  Arrangements will be made today.  I’ll post at that time.

Susan of Lara’s Gown for Smiles is getting some good responses this week.  Tomorrow she will be delivering some gowns to children.  She’s up to 900 gowns now.  I hope some of you saw her on TV last night.  Here is a link for you to check out.

Susan of Lara’s Gowns for Smiles was able to buy fabric for 70 new gowns yesterday.  That’s 70 children who will be richly blessed to be “stylish” while undergoing cancer treatment.  At the rate Susan sews, that fabric won’t last long.  There are baskets at FBC, Kentwood for you to add kid-patterned fabric or checks can be turned in to the church office.  FBC, Kentwood is the collection site for the Northshore.  Pass the word along.

I just got the text from channel 4 news WWL will air the Lara’s Gowns for Smiles tomorrow, Weds. April 10th, at 5PM. Please share so other might get the news and watch!!! Thank you all for your encouragement and support!!!

My young cousin in Texas who had brain cancer has gone through 4 MRIs that show no cancer.  The doctors are calling that remission.  Thanking God for giving him more time for living.

Velma T. Davidson died at 5:34 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles. She was born September 14, 1949 in Greensburg and was 63 years of age. She was a resident of Greensburg but has lived with daughter for the last 12 years in Sulphur. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Davidson LeDoux and husband, Travis; grandchildren, Brennen Smith, Alvin Smith, Nichole Turner and Daniel Turner and wife, Zoe; great grandchildren, Hayden Walton, Maddie Weber, Malakiah, Tarrin and Emmy Turner, all of Sulfur; brother, Andrew Travis and wife, Cathy; sisters, Patsy McGuff and husband, James, and Marie Travis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Michael M. Davidson; daughter, Lisa Ann McGuff; parents, Willie and Rose Lea Cutrer Travis and brother, Willie Eugene Travis. Monday Obituary

Elsie Marie Lambert Cooper
(June 2, 1930 – April 8, 2013)

Elsie Marie Lambert Cooper, a resident of Kentwood, went to her Heavenly home to rest peacefully beside her husband of 46 years, Aubrey “Broadie” Cooper, daughter, Barbara Cooper Miller, her mother, father, and siblings. Her surviving family sat at North Oaks Medical Center by her side as our Heavenly Father prepared a special place for her in Heaven. It was completed on April 8, 2013 at 12:55 a.m. As everyone said their bitter sweet farewells for now, we can rest assured that we will meet her again someday on the streets of gold. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Hermon”Spike” DiBendetto and Aubrey Dale and his wife, Karley Cooper, daughters, Tish and husband, Darrell Fairburn, Sandy and husband, Jeff Birch, grandchildren, Angie and Chris St. Alexandre, Brandon and Breanne Fairburn, Mandi and Irvin Green, Tammy Fairburn, Lisa and Matt Travis, Britni and Kraig Davis, Katie and Cole LaFontaine, Brian DiBendetto, Kaitlin and Blake Wilson, Brent Cooper, Dana Birch, Chase Birch, and James Antoon. Her most precious jewels were her great grandchildren, Camryn St. Alexandre, Jaime Travis, Holli Davis, Alyssa Travis, Maggie Green, Allie LaFontaine, Samantha St. Alexandre, and Dylan Davis, and her sister, Mary Trabona, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Spring Creek Baptist Church from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until Celebration of Life Services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Services conducted by Dr. Danny Smith. Interment will be at Spring Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spring Creek Baptist Church Chair Fund. Mrs. Elsie Cooper passed away.  Please be in prayer for the family.  I’ll post arrangements when they are available.

The Missions Fair and Rally last night was AWESOME!  I’m not using that word lightly.  Seeing what area churches are doing in missions and learning of opportunities we could assist with was so varied and interesting.  I was thankful Susan, and her husband Jimmy, from Lara’s Gowns for Smiles drove a 100 miles to be there and another 100 to get home!  I also also blessed Paul and Sandy brought Zach to represent Zach’s Lidz for Kids.  (Zach also had grandparents there to support him.)  These two projects touched many hearts and will be assisted by people from our association.  Thank-you, Jesus for allowing us to learn so much in such a short time.

The Missions Rally was an AWESOME worship time.  The Hispanic singers were good and reminded me of being in churches in Europe with the Hatchels.  I would recognize the tune to songs, but not know the “foreign” words, which would be the English words I was familiar with.  Many people were picking up on the Spanish and singing along with them.  The “Seminarians”  led in worship in a different style and certainly were an inspiration to us.  I could listen to and worship with them for hours.  Then, Dr. Chuck Kelly’s message was so cleanly spoken about our role as Christian disciples.  Dr. Kelly used one of his favorite “Hebrew” word, “WOW”, several times.  What a way to end the Lord’s Day!

The next part will be sharing some very personal thoughts, so skip this paragraph if you choose.  Zach Morgan is the son of two of my former students, Paul and Sandy Bennett Morgan.  It was so good to see them and to know how they have guided Zach.  I’m not at liberty to tell you what’s next for Zach, but count on seeing him in the future.  Susan, of Lara’s Gowns for Smiles, has become a computer friend.  She spends four days a week sewing gowns for children.  She started a ministry and has really stayed with it every week.  I don’t regularly give four days a week to a ministry, so I admire her for her dedication.  Dr. Greg Woodward, who led the Seminarians, lived down the street from the Hatchels at NOBTS.  His wife led my grandchildren in a musical last year at FBC, NO.  His children were friends of my grandchilden on campus.  Dr. and Dr. Kelly were always so gracious to the Hatchels.  Jennie had opportunities to speak in classes Mrs. Dr. Kelly taught.  I saw Christian friends from Hillsdale, Kedron, The Lord’s Church, Bethel, New Zion, East Fork, Kentwood, ….  What a great night for us to see those we have know and how they serve the Lord!

I wanted to share about last night last night when I got home, but was afraid I would “write a book” if I wrote at that time.  What a blessing to have been a part of it a small way!  Oh, I forgot to mention the crowd of local Christians made  it necessary to add chairs down in the auditorium!
