Pray for Kathy Jo Thompson as she sees an ENT doctor.  She has been having headaches, ear problems, dizziness, etc,  Pray this is something that can be easily taken care of.  Thank God for this young woman who has already been through so much.

Nancy Carruth got a good report yesterday.  Thank God for this.

The first thing he said when he walked in the door was you are going to be fine. She does have a fatty liver and her lipids were slightly elevated as was her AMA. She will go back in two weeks for a liver biopsy to determine if and what her treatment will be. All other blood work fine. She does not have cancer or cirrhosis of the liver. Monday Afternoon

Pray for Becky Ricks Gabriel who has been hospitalized at North Oaks for about a week and is still very ill.  Her daughter, who is a former student, asked that we pray for Becky, but accepts God’s will whatever it may be.

A former student, John Ponder, 49, passed away today.  I also played for his wedding.  May his family be comforted during this difficult time.

(October 22, 1963 – April 15, 2013)

A resident of Amite, he died at 9:25 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite. He was born October 22, 1963 in Baton Rouge and was 49 years of age. He was an avid scuba and cave diver who loved adventures and the outdoors. He was a high school graduate of Amite High School and later attended Louisiana State University and Georgia State University where he majored in computer science and chemistry. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Amite. He is survived by parents, Carolyn Ray and Lynn Ponder; son, John Lynn Ponder, III, and his wife, Destiny; daughter, Jennifer Ponder and her fiance, Greg Kern; grandchildren, Kaidence, Waylon and Aubree Ponder and Ruby Kern; sisters, Donna Ponder and Deborah Stevens; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ray and Cecilia Spansel Ponder and Leslie Barbee Ponder, Jr. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until memorial services at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013 .Services conducted by Rev. Mike Foster.

Pray for those injured at the Boston Marathon today, the families of those who were killed, and for the person who planted those bombs.  May he/she come to realize what they have done, the long-time suffering they have caused, and that the only hope for their forgiveness can be found in Jesus.

Please pray for my wive’s surgeries in the next couple of weeks that they will go well and she will have a safe recovery. Please also pray that we will be able to get pregnant during this time. We desperately want to have a child and raise him or her up in the church so please ask that God will bless us with this miracle! Thank you so much and God bless!

The electricity went off this morning while I was working on The Prayer Link.  It didn’t come back on in time for me to get it done and to get dressed.  I’m just getting in now.  It’s been a long day already.  That’s enough excuses!

Susan of Lara’s Gowns for Smiles gave away her 1008th gown!  Have you ever made 1008 of anything?  Let’s pray God continues to give her the desire, the time, and the funds to make gowns for children who need extra encouragement.

Zach’s Lidz for Kidz is being honored with a fundraiser at OFA.  The blessing keep pouring in!

Chris Wales told us New Zion Baptist Church is having a revival next week.  Bro. Easley is preaching and Chris is doing the music Sunday – Wednesday.

Esther “Doodle” Pierce Badon

(December 15, 1929 – April 14, 2013)

Esther “Doodle” Pierce Badon, 83 years, was embraced by Jesus and taken to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 4:45 a.m. at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. She was a native of Spring Creek and a resident of Independence. She loved all people and in return they loved her. She loved to cook and excelled in it but most of all she loved her family and our Heavenly Father – Always willing to help others and always showing unconditional love. She retired from Hammond State School in 1980 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Independence. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Carolyn and Gary Price, Greenwell Springs, Doug and Jackie Badon, Prairieville, Karen Rick, Husser, Donny and Sarah Badon, Independence; brother and his wife, Carl and Carolyn Pierce, Pelham, GA; grandchildren, Missy Miller, Albany, Michael Dickson, Ponchatoula, Amanda Carruth, Hammond, Grant Carruth, Husser, Clark and Essa Badon, Prairieville, and Christopher and Katie Badon, Independence; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Ayden and Pierce Carruth, Blair and Michael Dickson, Christian Miller and Candace Anthony; niece, Angie Corkern; nephews, Zack Myers, David King, Jim, Randy, Otis, Frank and Jimmy Pierce. Preceded in death by her husband, Milton “Hoss” Badon; sisters, Mary King and Shirley Robertson; brothers, Wesley, Wayne and Johnnie Pierce; her parents, Otis and Eardy Pierce; nephew, Ernest Ray Myers. Jeff Tolar is home after having back surgery.  Pray he continues to do well.

Mrs. Susie Wales looks wonderful.  Continue to pray for her as she continues to improve.

Mr. Pat Hoosier has completed his third round of chemo.  He’s feeling fine.  Continue to pray for him.

A resident of Kentwood, he died at 6:03 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. He was born November 25, 1932 in Kentwood and was 80 years of age. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 58 years, Merial Broussard Woodward; 4 daughters, Agnes Warren, Linda Knight, Theresa Erzinger and Sherry Noland; son, Marshall Lawrence Woodward; sister, Rosa Lee Foster; brother, Sammy P. Woodward; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Josie Woodward, Sr.; grandson, Joe Alan “BoBo” Knight; 4 sisters and 4 brothers. A resident of Kentwood, he died at 4:31 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite. He was born August 25, 1943 in Bogalusa and was 69 years of age. He was a retired supervisor from Croft Metals in Fernwood, MS and was currently a Sheriff’s Deputy with the Tangipahoa Parish Prison. He is survived by his step-children, Linda Callihan and her husband, Robert, Gibbie McMillan and his wife, Katera and Glenn McMillan; step-grandchildren, Robbie Lynn Callihan Kirby and her husband, Kevin, Craig Callihan and his wife, Julie, Rachael Rhodes and her husband, Adam, Rebekah McMillan, Wendy Chapman and her husband, Rob and Hunter McMillan; step-great-grandchildren, Lillie, Keelie and Madison Callihan, Dylan and Harper Rhodes and Cade Chapman; brother, Smiley Conerly and his wife, Carol; sister, Frances McKinsie; numerous nieces and nephews. Carol New had a medical procedure yesterday.  It seems to have had good results, but results will be available in a couple of weeks.  Also, Carol will have another procedure done later.  Pray that it also goes well.  Carol is ready to be well!  Pray that day comes soon.

Smiley Conerly just called to say his brother, Michael “Mike” Conerly, passed away about 4:30 or 5:00 this morning.  He apparently had a heart attack at work.  Smiley and Mike were very close.  Keep Smiley and other family members in your prayers.
