Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Put on the full armor of God,

so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Tuesday Addition

I forgot to mention that Doris Young is hospitalized at Greensburg.  Please pray for her.

I also forgot to ask for prayer for David’s sister-in-law’s dad, Mr. Elwood Courtney of Holden.  He had his 98th birthday last week.  Both he and his wife are not in good health.

Tuesday

Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;

do not fret—it leads only to evil.

For those who are evil will be destroyed,

but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.

~Psalm 37:8-9~

Glen Magee, Jr. is back at work following his heart ablation.  Pray for both Glen and Lisa as they both have been dealing with heart issues.

Please continue to pray for Andy and Betty Taylor.  He will be having the cellulitis removed from his toe tomorrow in Franklinton.

Betty asks that we pray for her brother, Warren Zigler, 60, who is having some issues with blood flow in his neck.  Warren lives in Tennessee.

Betty also asks for continued prayers for her aunt, Billie Jean Booty.  She’s at Tulane now, but will be moved soon.

Donna Fay Miller is doing better now.  She was finally diagnosed with a viral, not bacterial problem.  This should end weeks of problems.  She thanking God for allowing her to find the care she needed.

Debi Bales mother, Mildred Jacobsen, is having a difficult season with health issues.  Pray for Debi’s family.

Pray for a former Amite resident and one of my former students, Joanne Seymour.  She has just had a port implanted so she can go through chemotherapy.

Pray for Peggy Luce, wife of Dr. David Luce.  She has completed his first chemo and only has 34 more to go.  They served in a church west of Amite, but now live out from McComb.

David saw his pulmonary doctor about the spot that had been on his lung at one time.  It is still gone.  Thank-you for praying for David and all his issues the last couple of years.  For now, he seems to be doing better with each problem.  God has blessed us again and again.

Mission Projects/Needs
  • The PAPERBACK Bibles will be delivered to the jail Thursday morning.  If you have some to contribute, please get them to the stairwell by the office entrance to FBC,Kentwood by noon Wednesday.  If you are unable to get them this time, please bring them for the next delivery.  There are 400+ prisoners in Amite with the population constantly changing, so we will never be able to stay “caught-up”.  There will be a continuous need.
  • Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home Special Needs – FBC, Kentwood distributed a blue half-sheet of paper with a list of need such as dishcloths and batteries.  If you have these items, you can continue to bring them to the office stairwell area.  I am in contact with the LBCH and will see they are delivered to the proper people.

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering – One of the missionary couples we saw and heard Saturday at M-Jam is supported through the AAEO.  They are doing a special work in a difficult area of New Orleans.  Pray and give so they can continue to do what God has called them to do.

Read the Bible in 2017 – I Samuel 13-14 and Psalm 81.  I think I may have forgotten to tell you to watch the videos on Ruth and I Samuel at jointhebibleproject.com

If you didn’t start this on January 1st, don’t fret.  You can start at day one at any time.  After a year of reading, you will have read the whole Bible.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.

It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.

It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

~Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NIV)~

“His Eye is on the Sparrow” – This is one of my favorite songs.  I’m reading Billy Graham’s autobiography.  It’s easy to think about Ethel Waters singing this song at all the crusades.

Spend some time thanking God for all He does for you.

Monday

So then, brothers and sisters,

stand firm and hold fast

to the teachings we passed on to you,

whether by word of mouth or by letter.

~2 Thessalonians 2:15~

So far, the doctors at North Oaks have not been able to identify Margaret Oliver‘s problem. She will see a new doctor and have additional testing today.  She has been admitted.

Sonja Bradley has lost her second young child.  Please pray for this family.

Roy and Diane Turner were at church and helping lead the singing yesterday, only hours after a terrible accident.  She has a number of cuts and bruises.  Thank God they survived the wreck and were able to worship God within hours.

Please continue to pray for Andy and Betty Taylor.  They seem to go from one health issue to another one.  They are missed when they are unable to be in church.

Donna Fay Miller is home and improving from her pneumonia.  Pray she keeps getting better.

There will be a ladies’ prayer breakfast before  Sunday School next week.  Sign the list at the church or contact the church office to be added to the list.  A missionary who is on stateside assignment will be the speaker.

A psalm of David.

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.                                                                                                  ~Psalm 23:1-3 (NIV)~

Get prepared for tomorrow, the Lord’s Day.

Friday

Blessed is the one

who does not walk in step with the wicked

or stand in the way that sinners take

or sit in the company of mockers.

Roberts Wilson is improving from pneumonia.  Keep him in your prayers.

Krista Easley, daughter-in-law of Donnie and Teri Easley, apparently had a stroke yesterday.  The family requests prayer for this young woman.

Please continue to pray for Linda K. Graves.  She is not sitting around since she moved from Kentwood, but using her wonderful voice to bless others in her new church and back in Kentwood.  One of her songs last night was “Beulah Land”.  I’m so glad she continues to use her talent for the Lord.

Thanks to those all those who came to the cabin last night.  We are so blessed to have this special time at the cabin.

Join us for Bible study this morning at 10:00.  We will be studying Ezekiel 1.

If you have PAPERBACK Bibles to share with prisoners at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, please bring them to the church in the next few days.  Delivery will be made Thursday.  The Bibles can be new or used.

I’m excited about M-Jam for the children who attend missions class.  This will be their first opportunity to go to a state meeting like this.  Please pray for those who will be going to learn more about missions and to have their hearts encouraged to be a part of mission work at their young age.

Read the Bible today – Ruth and Psalm 77

     “Praise the LORD!….Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars of light!

Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the LORD, for He commanded and they were created….

Fire and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling His word;

mountains and all hills; fruitful trees and all cedars; beasts and all cattle;

creeping things and flying fowl….

Let them praise the name of the LORD, for His name alone is exalted;

His glory is above the earth and heaven.”
