Allen Loyd Graham, 73, died on July 4, 2022 at the Methodist Hospital in Mansfield, Texas.
A visitation will be held at Wade Family Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. Visitation will resume at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Kentwood, LA on Monday, July 11, 2022 from 10:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials: Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church, Mansfield Deaf Ministry and First Baptist Church, Arlington Preschool/Children’s Ministry. Allen was preceded in death by parents, Wilkie and Cecil Graham, and brother, Rodney Graham.
Mr. Graham was born on March 4, 1949 in Amite, LA. He earned college degrees at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. in May 1974 and the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ in December 1981. He had a successful career as a guidance counselor for 27 years at the Mississippi School for the Deaf. He was very involved with the deaf community. He served and loved the deaf community by serving in various roles throughout many deaf organizations. Allen became a Christian at a young age and was a Godly man who enjoyed serving his family, friends and others. He taught Sunday school at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison, MS where he was a member for 35 years. Most recently he was a member at First Baptist Church, Mansfield and involved in the deaf ministry.
Allen was preceded in death by parents, Wilkie and Cecil Graham, and brother, Rodney Graham.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Katherine Graham; children, Carey Graham, Remey Terrell (Kollin); and grandsons, Graham, John Allen and James Terrell; siblings, Randall Graham (Tommie Jo) and Cecile Graham, Wilkie Graham (sister-in-law), Molly and Richard Bernard (sister and brother-in-law) and Maggie and Frank Thibeaux (sister and brother-in-law); as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Betty Taylor said Andy has improved more since his mini stroke. Let’s thank God for His watchcare over Andy and Betty during difficult times.

Gussie H. Dunn passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the age of 89. She was born on September 1, 1932 in Kentwood, LA to Floyd Hodges and Pauline Lawrence Hodges.
Gussie is survived by her husband, James Royce Dunn; son, Leroy Carney; daughter, Paula McCabe; grandsons, Stonewall Fitzgerald, Wes Fitzgerald, and Dustin Fitzgerald; granddaughter; Rachel Wall; and six great grand children.
Gussie was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Donna Breaux.
Gussie was a graduate of Southeastern University in Hammond. She was a retired Geophysicist with Dominion Resources. She was also a champion golfer at Beau Chene Country Club.

Mike Roberts, 71, a resident of Magnolia, MS; passed away on July 6, 2022. Visitation will be held at Terry’s Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 9:00AM until services at 11:00 AM. Rev. LaVern Summerlin will officiate. Burial will be in the Alton Roberts Cemetery. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mike was born on July 2, 1951 in Magnolia, MS to Alton Roberts and Donis Vera Erwin Roberts. He was a member of Terry’s Creek Baptist Church. Mike had a deep love for his church. He and Rose found a family and home at Terry’s Creek, he looked forward to the time of fellowship with his church family and friends. Mike worked with Mr. Chris Sassone in the “woods”. He was a dedicated member of the team, and felt a great love for the “woods” and the people he worked with.
Mike and Rose loved life together. They spent many hours last week traveling to various places and enjoying food and time with each other. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Alton Wayne “Sug” Roberts, and a father figure to Mike; Joe “Red” Marshal.

Marilyn “Vondell” Kent, 65, of Amite, Louisiana, passed away the evening of July 4th at her childhood home in Kentwood, Louisiana after a valiant battle with breast cancer.
Vondell was born in 1957 to Wiley and Karolyn Sue Blades. She graduated from Spring Creek High School, where she was awarded Miss SCHS in 1975. As a talented artist, Vondell had a magical imagination and the prowess to bring it to life. She was a gifted singer and pianist. She loved anything outdoors, including hunting deer, riding ATV’s, spending summers at the river, and searching for Native American arrowheads. She was always ahead of the curve when it comes to fashion and loved sharing great food with family and friends. Vondell could see the beauty in objects and loved collecting antiques. She loved animals, especially her many pet cows, pigs, horses, goats, cats, and dogs. She never avoided hard work or the opportunity to help others.
She is preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother; her sister, Cheryl Lanette Fairburn; nieces and nephew, Holli Howard (David Green), Neela Howard, and Wiley Howard; grandnephews and grandnieces, Matthew (Sarah), Landon, Jacqui, and Hannah; her former spouse, Duke Kent; and her dog, best friend and most loyal companion, Rango.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life during her favorite holiday, Halloween, at her happiest place, her barn in Gillsburg, Mississippi. Exact time and date to be announced closer to event.

“Jack” Dempsey Catoire, Sr., 85 years old of Kentwood, LA formerly of LaPlace passed away on July 5, 2022 at his home with his family at his side. Jack is survived by the love of his life for the past 60 years, his wife, Charlotte Reno Catoire and their 3 daughters, Denise and son-in-law, Andrew Berthelot, Danette and son-in-law, Donald Weems, Delane and son-in-law, Scott Lanier, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patsy Oubre and Dixie Rome; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Dempsey, Jr., his parents, Leon and Birdie Catoire, his brother, Max and a sister, Jean Raye McKinney. Margaret Ann Thompson
June 7, 1944 – July 1, 2022
Our wonderful wife and mother Margaret Ann (Morgan) Thompson passed from this earth on July 1, 2022. Margaret Ann was born to Glyn and Inez Morgan on June 7, 1944, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She attended elementary school in Pine Grove, Louisiana, and secondary school in Amite, Louisiana. Upon graduation she attended Southeastern Louisiana University. After two years, she transferred to Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in food science. At OSU she met Larry Thompson, who eventually became her husband. Upon graduation in June, 1966, she entered a one year dietetic intern program at the Houston Veterans Administration Medical Center and became a licensed registered dietitian. Soon afterward, she and Larry married and established their first home in Hyde Park, Massachusetts, in order to be near Larry’s naval home port in Boston. After residing there and subsequently in Groton, Connecticut (Larry’s next home port), they moved to Tulsa and to Broken Arrow where they have lived for the last 53 years.
Margaret Ann is survived by her husband, Larry, and her two sons, Robert and David. Robert resides in rural Muskogee County with his wife Tracy and children Ali, Bodie, and Lily. Robert is a rancher and insurance broker. David and his wife Jennan Sliman reside in Austin, Texas. David is a software engineer.
Margaret Ann is also survived by her sister, Glynda Sue Knighten and husband Jim of Poway, California; nieces Laura Knighten and Katherine Miller, both of Sierra Madre, California, and their spouses and children.
Margaret Ann was very active in church and community matters, especially activities focused on food insecurity. While serving as the sponsor for high school youth at First Presbyterian Church in Broken Arrow, she began a project with the youth that resulted in the formation of Broken Arrow Neighbors. She was instrumental in achieving tax exempt status for that organization and served as the first chairman of its Board of Directors.
She maintained an active professional life, serving as Nutritional Consultant to a variety of health care institutions, as an instructor in institutional food service operations at the OSU Technical College in Okmulgee, and as a director of food and nutrition at multiple hospitals in the greater Tulsa area. She was a life-long learner, earning a master’s degree in public health from The University of Oklahoma. She was the spiritual rock of our family and we shall miss her very much. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on July 11 at Floral Haven Chapel followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Broken Arrow Neighbors, 315 W. College, Broken Arrow, OK 74012.

David took me back to the orthopedist yesterday. X-rays showed that the bones are in place, so now my job is to keep wearing those big, black, bulky boots.
Today is Wednesday. That means prayer meeting tonight. FBC, Kentwood provides classes for everyone including a nursery for babies, toddlers, and older young boys and girls.
God has given us this day. What are we going to do for Him today?
Today, as we celebrate the 246th birthday of our country, let’s focus on the many positives of living in America and honor the freedoms of living here. Let’s also say thanks to the many people who have served in out military and who have protected our rights for 246 years. If you previously served, we thank you for your service. If you are presently serving, we thank you for your daily service. May God continue to bless our great country. Please from for America today!
I was asked to include a request for prayer for the local baseball team that will be leaving to play ball in the San Antonio, Texas. Pray for all the family members and friends who will travel with them to give them encouragement. The team is coached by Daniel Speed and represents a number of families from the Kentwood area.
Thank-you to those who helped work on shoebox preparations Saturday. Think of all the items, small and large that go into one shoebox. Multiple that by 400! You will get an idea of the volume of work it takes to accomplish our goal. You may ask why do we set such a high goal, but we think in terms of how many children and families we can bless by introducing them to Jesus. The material things are included as an added blessing. Thanks to those of you who have made recent donations or purchases and to those of you who have given of your time to make pencil bags, hygiene kits, fold shoeboxes, etc. It takes many hands and hearts working together to meet this goal that is attainable by working together. I’m so thankful for the hands and hearts helping us this year.
