Week of Prayer for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions (Canada & USA) – Day 2

Barry and Amy Rager – http://anniearmstrong.com/missionaries-2016/

Missions Opportunity

You are invited to FBC, Greensburg to learn about the Annie Armstrong Week of Prayer for North American missions.  The theme this year is “Here I Am/Send ME”.  We will meet at 10 and end with a potluck lunch.  Everyone is invited to come.

  •      Did you realize 33% of the people in the South are unchurched?
  •      Did you realize 73% of the people in Canada are unchurched?
  •      Did you realize 90% of the people in western states are unchurched?

Even if you cannot attend the meeting this morning, I hope you will want to support the efforts to change the statistics I just listed.  You can do this at any Southern Baptist church.  One hundred percent on the money given will be used  for that purpose.

Have a marvelous Monday.  Remember to pray the prayer that is always perfect. “Thy will be done”.

Sunday

A verse we all need to be reminded of periodically…

Do not be quick with your mouth,

do not be hasty in your heart

to utter anything before God.

God is in heaven and you are on earth,

so let your words be few.

First, I want to mention three families I saw at the LA Heart Hospital in Lacombe.

  1. Robert Landry, from Amite, was leaving, but had been a patient due to A-fib.
  2. Jimmy Williams was  there for a couple of days.  I had a good visit with Linda.
  3. Gloria Gill was there for an outpatient test.  She will have a heart ablation next month.

Rebecca Williams, mother of Matt Williams, a former resident of Kentwood, will be having a heart ablation next week in MS.  Keep her in your prayers.

Carolyn Kirkfield, the wife of the late Rev. Charles Kirkfield, is very sick.  Please pray for her and her family.  Her children are Teri and Chad.

Bobby Black, a good friend of Jason’s from summer staff at Camp Ridgecrest in North Carolina, will soon be healed of cancer in heaven.  Bobby is from South Carolina and was a part of Jason’s wedding.  He is a young man, but has touched many lives.

Larry Watts is having more issues.  There is a possibility they are caused by a reoccurrence of cancer.  He is at North Oaks.

Today, I would like to thank the men and ladies who frequently prepare food for events, both good and bad, and who work in the kitchen/fellowship areas setting up, serving, and cleaning up in all our area churches.  What a blessing you are to so many people!  Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

Harrell Sharkey’s surgery to remove cancer seems to have gone well.  He was up and walking last night.  The lab report will be in soon and determines the next step. Keep the prayers coming.

Jimmy Alford‘s tests were positive for cancer in the liver.  He is waiting for information about his options for treatment and for a timeline.  Please pray for the Alford family.

Mr. James  Miller was about the same yesterday as the day before.  Keep praying for God’s mercy and peace.

Thursday

I want to know Christ—

yes, to know the power of his resurrection

and participation in his sufferings,

becoming like him in his death,

and so, somehow,

attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

Philippians 3:10-11

This morning, I’m only including four requests, but they are big ones.

  1. Karen (Curtis) Callihan Dykes – Having her second heart valve replacement this morning.  (Karen Sue and I grew up in Roseland and attended church together.)
  2. Corrine Watson – “Miss” Corrine has cancer and will be at Mary Bird Perkins and Ochsner of New Orleans for treatment.  (Her husband and my daddy both worked for the telephone company.  I knew her children from school in Amite.)
  3. Robbie Lynn Callihan Kirby – The last report I had was that she was still not feeling well.  She is in Jackson.  (Robbie Lynn’s grandfather and Karen Sue’s dad were brothers.)
  4. Mark Billings – Surgery (Sorry folks, I don’t know this man, but I know many of you do.)  Pray for him, his family, and the medical staff.

Today, I’m so thankful for my husband who conducted the memorial service for his sister’s son-in-law.  It was perfect because it caused everyone to remember Randy so well and pointed everyone to Jesus, the one who can comfort and save them.  Randy was 67 years old.  I pray the message touched hearts and lives among Randy’s friends and family.
