 Jadon’s Journey

Update on Jadon’s foot. The orthopedic called yesterday and said that after reviewing his xrays that it looks like a fracture. It is not his tendon like we originally thought. We will go back to Childrens Monday to get a cast. He is not happy about it. He wants it to come off now because he says it feels better. He is such a tough little boy. He kept telling me there was a crack inside his foot. Well he was right. His brace that he wears was giving him enough support to walk and that’s why he was having so much trouble when we took it off. It also explains why it was getting worse daily. It had to be hurting him and he never complained of pain. My tough little guy! (Written by his mom)

Christy Hayne’s dad has had more heart problems which were hopefully corrected with surgery.  He is better and able to be back at home as of yesterday.  Christy is thankful God has more plans for her dad here on earth.  He lives in Florida.

Johnnie “Lil Man” Santangelo has had some new issues and is beginning a new treatment, IV chemo, for brain inflammation and swelling and to restore vision, strength, and tolerance.

Macy Gueldner (Written by her mother)

I’ll be on my way to Baton Rouge after Cate’s soccer practice. I’m switching places with Jeremy tonight, and I’m very happy about it!

Macy is doing fine. All I know about the bacteria is that it’s a bacteria that is usually found in the intestines. I don’t think they’ve identified a specific antibiotic to use, so she’s still on a broad spectrum. They’re in no hurry to release her, so we’ll be a few more days, at least.

Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers. We appreciate everyone’s concern, and it helps to know that we’re surrounded by so much love

Two special monthly events I attended this week:

  • Young at Heart at New Zion was especially meaningful to us as two ladies who are missionary moms attended with one of them speaking.  We formed a special bond in that short time together.
  • We were also blessed by the gathering at the cabin last night.  The group of people and each word spoken/sung seemed to be “just what we needed”.  Two special observations: Our group last night included seven retired teachers.  We heard “Happy Birthday” on the harmonica, a first for most of us!

Next week – “Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party

  • Tuesday at 11:00 A.M
  • The Cafe in Kentwood
  • Honors ladies of FBC who have March birthdays

The Hope Center is doing well.

  •  Thank-you for your donations of money and items.
  • If you wish to set up a time to volunteer, please let me know.

Julia Irene Bryant (Prescott) Forrest, 77, of Kentwood, LA., died peacefully on March 4, 2015 after a 24 year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Born April 26, 1937 in Lexie, MS., she was preceeded in death by her parents, Burlin R. and Pauline (Bond) Bryant, her brother and only sibling, Burlin “Randy” Bryant, and her loving husband, Robert Dale Forrest.

Julia was Kentwood’s Town Clerk for 42 years. Ask anyone and they will tell you that she was the backbone of City Hall. Things could not get done without her. She retired to enjoy country living with her husband, Dale. She was a member of Kentwood First Baptist Church, an avid reader, loved sewing and computers. But her greatest pleasure was the time she spent with her family and she gave her love abundantly to her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Richard, Jr. “Ricky” & Jill (Scioneaux) Prescott, two daughters, Raine P. Himel and Ronde P. Newman;  stepson, Craig & Pam (Cook) Forrest, and stepdaughter, Kathy Dale Forrest; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Julia’s loving and generous spirit continues to touch lives. It was her desire that, when she passed on, her body would be donated to science. There will be a  Celebration of Life for family & friends at Kentwood First Baptist Church on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 9:00-11:00a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Michael Stern Parkinson’s Research Foundation, 1115 Broadway, Suite 1200, New York, NY 10010 or online at http://www.parkinsoninfo.org/donate.
Condolences may be left in Julia’s online memorial at http://www.forevermissed.com/julia-bryant-forrest/

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St. Helena Parish Nursing Home for Julia’s care, Community Hospice and Professional Funeral Services for their support in her final days.

Renee Deck Terrell is having some health issues that make walking difficult.  Pray for the best for her.

Smiley’s sister, Frances McKenzie, and her family are in need of extra prayers.

Continue to pray for Joe and Jean Easley.  She will be having surgery at 6 this morning at Tulane.  He is in rehab in Hammond.  Thankfully, they have family and friends who have stuck by them through all their difficulties.  They are lovely people who have had a very difficult time over the past few years.

Mrs. Nadine Bridges was taken to North Oaks over the weekend.  I do not have an update, but I’m sure prayers are always appreciated.

Mr. Bobby Lawson continues to have hospice care at home.  Pray for him and his family during these unpredictable days.

Rev. Tim Jones had a change of medication that seems to be helping.  Pray for him as he faces additional testing.

Pray for Mrs. Cecile Alford and her family.

Koltyn Gafford is doing pretty well.  The family is making the necessary adjustments to being at home, but have certainly found and enjoyed the advantages of being back in Amite.

Pray for one of my neighbors who is having some problems.  We can best help by praying for her.

Pray for Mrs. Hellen Morris and her family.  She’s in rehab in McComb.

Terri Easley thanks everyone for praying for her.  She will be fine soon.

Alan Douglas Graham lost his battle to cancer yesterday.  Pray for his family in the coming days.
