Tuesday

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said,

“I am the light of the world.

Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,

but will have the light of life.”

~John 8:12~

“Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party – This morning at 11:00 at The Cafe

Honoring: Lois Pittman, Fay Raborn, Molly Carter, Frances Gay, Fay Shoemaker, Eva Watts, Carol Jean Conerly, Evelyn Bridges, Ferrie Gene Blackmon, Sue Connelly

Operation Christmas Child

David and I shopped yesterday and made many good purchases.  I’m so anxious to open all the bags and look at the items all at the same time.  We found calculators for $.94 at Walmart in McComb (and bought them all), colored pens, jump ropes, small cars, plastic animals, soap, etc.  We experienced excitement and joy as we thought about the children who will receive the shoe boxes in a few months.

Items we didn’t purchase yesterday, but still need – small flashlights and extra batteries, washcloths, and bandanas.

The SON shines every day!

Monday

If then you have been raised with Christ,

seek the things that are above,

where Christ is,

seated at the right hand of God.

Set you minds on things that are above,

not on things that are on earth.

~Col. 3:1,2~

Rev. Bobby Eads’ mother, Glenda Eads, is critically ill.  Please pray for the Eads family.

Miss Fay Shoemaker was feeling well enough to be in church yesterday.  I’m thanking God for her progress.

“There is a Name I Love to Hear/O How I Love Jesus”

The children in Bible Drill Class learned more about their Bibles last night and read & discussed the story of the creation.  If you have a boy/girl or grandson/granddaughter, ask them to tell you about the creation.  They can tell you the story and locate it in their Bible.  They are so amazing to teach.  Thank you for Betty Simpson and Susan Frazier for faithfully helping with the children of Sundays and Wednesdays.

Thank-you to those who brought calculators for Operation Christmas Child.  We could use some more of the $1.00 calculators that can be found at the dollar stores.  This week, we will be shopping for colorful bandanas.  Some very pretty ones have already been turned in.  Yesterday, three individuals gave me cash to shop for them.  David and I will do that and give a copy of the receipts to the donors.  Yesterday morning and afternoon, I was able to work on organizing the items given so far.  Our grandson has given time periodically this summer.  Last night, after helping before church, our daughter decided to work while I was teaching class to finish up some things.  Later this week, I will be able to list items we are running short on.

I would love to pop out of the shoeboxes as they are opened in a couple of months.  What joy they must experience as they receive the gifts and the opportunity to learn about Jesus!

Anna Lee

Sunday

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—

a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,

just as it is written:

“The righteous will live by faith.”

~Romans 1:17~

Bobby Forbes is better and in a regular room.  He will probably be ready to return to his home in Russelltown by Tuesday.  Continue to pray for him and his family.

Jeffrey Brister will have a complete shoulder replacement Tuesday.  This is another step in recovery from his motorcycle accident.

Today the Phillip Harrells celebrated their 76th anniversary.  He said they had company off and on during the day.  I thankful to God for the way He scheduled their guests so the company did not tire them out.

The work done at The Lighthouse today looks good.  I hope many of you get to stick your head in tomorrow so you can see the improvement that was made today.

  • We were hoping to have enough pencils & pens to give each child a whole pack. I think we are a little short of that at this time.

Yesterday, in a local store, a worker asked me if I prayed.  When I said yes, she asked me to pray for her elementary age son, Ezekiel, who is possibly facing heart surgery.  I told her I was just leaving a Bible study on Ezekiel 20, so I could easily remember his name when I pray.  She would appreciated your prayers too as they see another doctor for a second opinion.
