“Greater love has no one than this,

than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

John 15:13

Deborah Alford continues to be at Baton Rouge General.  Her surgery went well.  Pray for her as she continues the recovery process following major heart surgery.  As you pray for her, pray for her caregivers too.

Pray for Robbie Lynn Kirby as she prepares for surgery tomorrow and the long recovery process that follows.

Pray for the Schneeweiss family as they prepare for Don’s sister to receive a kidney from her sister-in-law tomorrow.  Pray for the recovery of both of these ladies to go smoothly.

Missions – Pray for First Baptist Church of Moore, OK.  The church is serving as a shelter for those who need a place to stay and has volunteers working in  a mobile kitchen and feeding units, chainsaw teams to help clear trees and debris, and providing chaplains to minister to those in need.  May Jesus shine through each of these individuals so that others will “see the light”!

There will be a brief Memorial Day Ceremony at the Kentwood City Hall this morning at 10:00.  You are  invited to attend.

Thank God for those who “gave their all” so you might have your present freedoms and way of life today.  Thank God for giving his son, Jesus, to die on a cross for our sins so we might have an eternity in heaven with God.  Be sure to accept this great gift if you have not already done son!

Mrs. Ruby Luke greatly enjoyed her first day back at home.  There’s no place like home.  Thank God for his improvement and ability to be back where she belongs.

Missions – Continue to pray for the people of OK and those who are volunteering to help them recover from the EF5 tornado.  Be sure to get your donations in to FBC, Amite or the designated place nearest you.  I’ve just heard about Southern Baptist Disaster Relief twice in the last five minutes on television.  I’m thankful our work is available in times of need and meaningful to many families.  Especially pray for chaplains who will also be deployed.  May they use this awful event to help people find the Lord.

Mrs. Barbara Erwin called to ask us to pray for Deborah (Carl) Alford.  She had a heart attack Friday and is hospitalized in Baton Rouge.  She was in one hospital, but has been moved to the Baton Rouge General on Blue Bonnet.  She has four blockages (80% and above) with surgery scheduled for Friday, unless the doctor can work her in earlier.  Some of you may remember her as a former nursery worker at FBC, Kentwood.  Please say prayers for Deborah and her family.

Saturday

instead pray about everything;

tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank him for his answers.

If you do this, you will experience God’s peace,

Thursday

“LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble;

You will strengthen their hearts.

You will listen carefully.”

~Psalm 10:17~

Pray for the world situation, especially our country.  Pray for politicians, voters, old, young, black, while, rich, poor, Christians, and unchristians.  Pray God will use all to make a better world for us all and to bring those who don’t know the Lord to sit at his table.

Pray for victims to man-made and natural disasters.  May we all do our best to keep ourselves and others stay safe.  Especially pray for the people of Texas who have faced the latest natural disaster.  May our disaster relief people be there to help them with meals, clean clothes, rebuilding, but mainly with their spiritual needs.

Mrs. Seymour, mother of two of my former students, Karen Joanne, and Becky, passed away last night.  Many of you may remember her as co-owner of a store of highway 16 between I-55 and highway 51.

I went to bed last night praying for the Jones family.  Read the latest posts and hear the heart of Gavin Jones.  Pray for peace for his thoughts and energy to face each day.

Devotional – Our Daily Bread – “I’m Sorry, Man”

http://odb.org/

As I ponder the good medical report I received Tuesday, I know all medical reports are not so positive.  Pray for each person visiting a doctor, because we never know when they might get a negative report.  Pray for those who will face that situation today.  Pray they will allow God to prepare their hearts for the near future and for eternity.  People in these situations are often very open to hearing God’s Word through us.  Take time to visit, call, pray, share a Scripture, etc. to help make their day a little lighter and their eternity much brighter.
