A resident of Hammond, he died on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was born November 20, 1923 in Spring Creek and was 89 years of age. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Emma Dean Morgan McDaniel, Hammond; 2 daughters, Janet McDaniel Bankston and husband, Byron, Hammond and Julie McDaniel Shartle and Bryan, Madisonville; 7 grandchildren, Leah, Bolden, Micah, Rebekah, Cain Bankston, and Chloe and Caleb Shartle; sister, JoAnn M. Strickland and husband, Dale, Baton Rouge; 2 brothers, Harold McDaniel, Kentwood, and Clyve McDaniel and wife, Margie, Athens, TX; brother-in-law, Ervin Nebelsick, Utah. Preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Luna McDaniel; brother, Tommy McDaniel; sister, Mary Edna Nebelsick; sister-in-law, Sue McDaniel. Brett Alan Kirkpatrick
(March 11, 1982 – April 27, 2013)

A resident of Walker, he died at 7:07 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Springfield. He was born March 11, 1982 in Metairie and was 31 years of age. He was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Springfield High School and a boilermaker. Brett is survived by his parents, Edward and Susan Kirkpatrick; brother, Ryan Kirkpatrick and wife, Aimee; 3 nieces, Krislyn, Caroline and Claire Kirkpatrick, all of Springfield; grandfather, John D. Oresta Frances Drude Pevey
May 5, 1933 – April 28, 2013
Ponchatoula, Louisiana

Oresta Pevey, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 28, 2013. She was born and raised in Ponchatoula, LA. The daughter of Merlin and Doris Drude and older sister of Muriel Cassibry and Robert Drude. For 59 years, she was the loving wife of Reggie Pevey. Dear mother of three daughters: Janet, husband Terrill Collier; Diane, husband Terry Pepitone; and Susan, husband Tim McHugh. Also mother to four sons: Paul, wife Angela; John, wife Terri; David, wife Jeanette; and Dennis, wife Jerri. Honored and adored grandmother of 25, great-grandmother of 11 and friend to many, many more. She graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing. She worked at Seventh Ward and Lallie Kemp hospitals. She also worked as Head Nurse at the Kemp Street Nursing Home. She continued her nurturing skills as she followed Reggie in his real estate career, helping many young families start their lives together. After retirement, she and Reggie enjoyed many trips together, their favorite being Oregon. Her devotion to family and faith will live in our hearts for generations.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made in Oresta Pevey’s name to the St. Joseph Catholic Church “Generation to Generation” fund.
Friends will be received Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am on Wednesday, with Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina, O.P. officiating.
Interment will follow in the Ponchatoula Cemetery Mausoleum.

A resident of Montpelier, she died at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013 at her home. She was born July 16, 1923 in Pine Grove and was 89 years of age. She and her husband founded Bear Creek Western Store and Steak House. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Linda King and Melba King Giardina and her husband, Kenny; 2 grandchildren, Rebecca King Phillips and Dwayne Giardina; 2 great-grandchildren, Cauy Christopher Phillips and Cady Rose Phillips, all of Montpelier. She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. “W.B.” King; son, Christopher Elliot “Chris” King; parents, Bev and Jincy King; 4 sisters, Vivian Plitt, Gladys Haynes, Eugenia Rawls and Norma Cunningham; 2 brothers, J. C. King and B. T. King, II. Dorothy “Dot” Grice
(August 22, 1946 – April 21, 2013)

A resident of Kentwood, died at 6:15AM on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Kentwood Manor Nursing Home in Kentwood. She was born August 22, 1946 in Kentwood and was 66 years of age. Survived by companion, Wayne Snell, Mt. Hermon; 2 sons, Greg Sullivan, Magnolia, Ms, and Sean Sullivan and wife, Ariyaporn, Bangkok, Thailand; 2 sisters, Bettye Riggs, Thomasville, GA and Sadie Cannon, Kentwood; 2 brothers, Tommy Grice, Kentwood and Loyd Grice, Harrisburg, PA; 4 grandchildren, Brittnei Jordan, Heather Pearson, Laney Sullivan and Matthew Sullivan; 2 great grandchildren, Kemper Jordan and Brock Pearson. Preceded in death by first husband, Doug Sullivan; parents, Loyd and Dorothy Grice, Sr.; daughter in law, Kim Sullivan; and sister, Margaret Huber.
