Thursday

“LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble;

You will strengthen their hearts.

You will listen carefully.”

~Psalm 10:17~

Pray for the world situation, especially our country.  Pray for politicians, voters, old, young, black, while, rich, poor, Christians, and unchristians.  Pray God will use all to make a better world for us all and to bring those who don’t know the Lord to sit at his table.

Pray for victims to man-made and natural disasters.  May we all do our best to keep ourselves and others stay safe.  Especially pray for the people of Texas who have faced the latest natural disaster.  May our disaster relief people be there to help them with meals, clean clothes, rebuilding, but mainly with their spiritual needs.

Mrs. Seymour, mother of two of my former students, Karen Joanne, and Becky, passed away last night.  Many of you may remember her as co-owner of a store of highway 16 between I-55 and highway 51.

I went to bed last night praying for the Jones family.  Read the latest posts and hear the heart of Gavin Jones.  Pray for peace for his thoughts and energy to face each day.

As I ponder the good medical report I received Tuesday, I know all medical reports are not so positive.  Pray for each person visiting a doctor, because we never know when they might get a negative report.  Pray for those who will face that situation today.  Pray they will allow God to prepare their hearts for the near future and for eternity.  People in these situations are often very open to hearing God’s Word through us.  Take time to visit, call, pray, share a Scripture, etc. to help make their day a little lighter and their eternity much brighter.

a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,

where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf.

Pray for Carol New as she goes back to the doctor today.  Things haven’t been working smoothly for her.  Let’s pray today is a good day for her.

Jones Family – Think of the activities surrounding taking care of a baby.  Multiply that by five.  Add some extra physical needs for the babies and an older brother.  That describes the Jones’ household.

David saw one of Caroline Cutrer’s family members who shared that she is doing well and how thankful they are to have all of you praying for them.  Let’s keep praying until she is completely clear of cancer for good.

Of all the articles I have read about Mother’s Day this year, this is my favorite.  I hope it touches your heart too.

~1 Peter 2:23b LB~

We’ve been praying for Jadon for a while and have seen God work in his young life.  His newest report is that he has been 3 months without seizure medicine and 16 months without seizures.  God has really worked in that young life.

Amber Prine Ragan – God has worked in this life this week.  Pray for the Prine and Ragan families as they take this journey with Amber.

Amber Update: First let me say, God is so good! Prayers have been heard and answered. The pathology results confirmed that it s a grade 2 classification tumor. During surgery they were able to remove about 4 cm of the temporal lobe where the tumor is located (possibly 30% of the tumor was eradicated ). Dr Levine feels that Amber has had this tumor for several years. He believes that it has been very slow growing. We received more good news at our next appointment with the radiologist. He does not recommend radiation treatment due to the classification and slow growth of the tumor. At this point, we could not be more pleased with the reports. Our final appointment was with the neuro-oncologist, Dr De Groot. Amber will go through 12 months of chemotherapy treatment. The treatment will be an oral dose of temodar that she will take for 5 days each month . She will repeat MRIs every 2 months during the treatment period. The goal of the chemotherapy treatment will be to shrink the remaining section of the tumor or to stop it from growing.
We are so pleased with this plan of treatment. Amber will need to return back to MDA after completing her first round of treatment and again in July for an MRI. If all goes well, she will then be able to be supervised by a local neuro-oncologist.

Thank you again for all the support and prayers that you have showered Amber with over the past month. Our prayers have been answered…..
At first, the mother in me did not want to post the image, but Amber insisted! Honestly, I have to agree with her….she kicked butt!
Happy Mother’s Day to all…… I know this Mommy will have a good one!
Love to all….

Tuesday

This morning, I’m reminded of another reason to be thankful.  My draft form of an incomplete Prayer Link was automatically saved when we had a brief power outage.  I remember the days when you had to start all over.  I thank God for all the technology we have now, even if I don’t use all of it.  Being late is being than not being able to get this posted at all.

He has made everything beautiful in its time.

He has also set eternity in the human heart;

yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

~Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV~

From Brandy Potts

Please pray for bro. Mike Shummock (Pastor of EFBC). He is having a heart cath in the morning (Tuesday).

Amber Update: Just a quick note to let you know that Amber is doing great. She is slowly gaining her strength back and has enjoyed receiving lots of tender loving care. We received a phone call from MD Anderson yesterday and they have changed her appointment date to return back. We will be returning back to Houston late Thursday afternoon. Amber will start a full day of appointments on Friday, May 10th. She will have blood work done, staples removed, get biopsy results, and meet with the neuro-oncologist. We will post another update this weekend.
Thank you again for checking in and continuing to support Amber. Keep those prayers flowing…….
Love to all…..
Kathy “Ree Ree” (mother)

Pray for Chuck Pulliam of Amite as he has a knee replacement surgery today.  He did well with the other knee replacements and recovery, so let’s pray he does as well with this one.

Brody Roberts is back in North Oaks.  Let’s pray this young man gets to feeling much better soon.

Pat Hoosier is beginning another  round of treatment.  Pray for it to be effective and for him to tolerate it well.

Mrs. Nadine Council called with three requests while I was at another wake.  I will try to read the notes taken for me.

  • A relative of their daughter, Beth, has a job flying helicopters in Africa.  The family’s request is that he will be able to find a job closer to home so he can be with his young family.
  • Joan Morris, a sister-in-law, has cancer on her spine.  She’s in Augusta, GA and would welcome our prayers.
  • The husband of a niece, Tom Breeze, is hospitalized with a latter stage of alzimers.  He’s in Florida.  Please add him to your prayer list also.

Thanks to all who helped prepare food for the Hammons and/or Strickland families.

Jones Family – http://gavincarrie.blogspot.com/

Notice the work done on the flower beds at church.  This was done by Fay Gehringer.  She didn’t do it for recognition, but I’m sure a “thank-you” wouldn’t be unappreciated.

Several churches have already recognized their seniors.  FBC, Amite had eleven.  FBC, Covington had twenty-five.  I don’t know about other churches who have already recognized their seniors.  You can share with me if you wish your church to be included.  FBC, Kentwood will recognize seniors on the 19th.

Mothers’ Day is traditionally a day for parents to dedicate their young children to the Lord.  Pray for each young family as their promise to teach their child about God.  Also, pray for mothers and memories of mothers this week.

Missions – Zach’s Lidz for Kidz

Our time for collection of hats and caps for boys and girls at Children’s Hospital will close Wednesday of next week.  Please take time to purchase some cute hats for these children to wear while they undergo treatment.  It’s not about Zach.  It’s not about the church.  It’s not about you.  It’s about sick children you can encourage.  Baskets are located under the stairs to the balcony and under the stairs in the northwest corner of the fellowship hall building.  Thanks for being an encourager to a sick child.

Rod Phillips passed away yesterday due to cancer.  His name will not mean anything to you, but to IMB missionaries who got a good deal to use a car for a few months, he was a very special man.  David went to the Jackson, Tennessee to pick up/return a vehicle several times.  Thankfully, I went last May to return the vehicle the Hatchels used while Stateside this last time.  I’m so glad I did, because I met a used car salesman who had a real heart for missions!  Not only did he go on numerous mission trips, but he provided a vehicle at unbelievably good deals to missionaries while they were back in this country for a while.  I remember I reported this here and used the comment, “God can use anyone, even a used car dealer!”.  Ron Phillips was indeed a man who made a difference for the Lord and His kingdom.  May God bless his family and friends, as well as many missionaries, who will surely miss this man.  The Scripture above is dedicated to Rod’s memory.

Nancy Carruth is on her way to Baton Rouge this morning for a liver biopsy.  Please pray for this sweet friend and her family as well as the medical staff who will be working with her.

Pray for Bro. Gary Wieborg, former pastor at Roseland, as he comforts two families through funeral services on the same day.
