Today, I want to tell you that the number of flu cases seems to be growing. If you haven’t had a flu shot, get on and be extra careful until it takes effect.
“Miss” Ruby Dillon has done fantastically after her eye surgery. Please keep praying for her. Mr. “Cete” has been a good caregiver, as always. What an amazing couple!
We were asked to move the Operation Christmas Child “shoeboxes” from their usual location. This is usually a good place to leave the boxes until November, but due to the expected size of the crowds for two events Sunday morning and evening, the boxes could be stored in a better location. Three of us got organized and started yesterday before prayer meeting. We had lots of good help after prayer meeting. It seemed like no time and the boxes were packed and moved to another location. Thanks to several youth and some adults, the task was taken care of quickly. We now have some newly trained packers to help us later on. There is often a “silver lining” to the clouds in our lives. God certainly provided. We are thankful.
TWO SPECIAL EVENTS SUNDAY AT FBC, Kentwood.
8 A.M. – Breakfast in the Fellowship Hall before Sunday School for everyone.
6 P.M. – Fifth Sunday Singing and Fellowship for everyone afterwards.
TWO MORE COMMENTS ABOUT SHOEBOXES
We are still collecting the postage for the shoeboxes. It is only $10.00 per box and includes postage and additional expenses such as a Bible, in the proper language, and a special booklet ‘The Greatest Journey”, also in the proper language, for the older boys and girls. What a great way to spend $10.00!
Dirt Cheap in Amite, and probably in other locations, has some wonderful, colorful dinosaurs this week. They are larger than your fist and are selling for $.25 each. If you can, pick up some in the next few days and bring them to me at church Sunday.
I taught school, so I only was a stay-at-home mom about three months each year. I thank God for moms who do this all year, year after. year. I also pray for them. Will you pray for them today too?
I, Anna Lee, went to the doctor who has been treating my broken feet since mid-May. I was released. Thanks to all who have prayed for me and those who have helped me get around at church, especially up steps! I hope I never go through two falls and three broken feet in two months again. I do not recommend it to anyone. God was there for me all the time and saw me through everything. I guess I had some lessons to learn about my limitations and needed to be slowed down so God could get through to me.
Pray for all those with flu and/or covid.

“Miss” Ruby Dillon‘s surgery went very well. She came home this morning. David and I saw her shortly after noon. She looks very good. She has an ice bag for 20 minutes and then off for 20 minutes. When she was without the ice bag, she looked just like “Miss” Ruby. Tomorrow, she won’t even need the ice bag. Thank you for your prayers for this sweet friend.
This morning, you are requested to pray for Mrs. Ruby Dillon who will be having surgery this morning in Hammond that involves anesthesia. I’ll post an update when one is available. Pray for Mr. Cete and other family members too.
This scripture seems appropriate for the family this morning and to all of us many days of our lives.

October 25 – Psalm 118: 24-29 NIV
24 This is the day that the Lord has done a great thing.
We will be very happy today!
25 Lord, please save us now!
Lord, please help us to do well!
26 May the Lord bless the man who comes with his authority!
We praise you from here,
in the house of the Lord.
27 The Lord is our God.
He has caused his light to shine on us.
Make a happy festival!
Take branches in your hands,
and go to offer a sacrifice on the altar.
28 You are my God,
and I will thank you.
You are my God,
and I will say how great you are.
29 Thank the Lord, because he is good.
His faithful love will always be with us.
The Fall Festival was great. Thanks to ALL who were involved. It certainly took many people to plan, set up, work, and clean up all the different activities involved. Thank-you for giving of yourself to provide for our children, others from our church family, and many friends. What a fantastic opportunity for the children!
The Community Mission Team from FBC, Kentwood is providing an opportunity to pack a Christmas bag for children of our community. You can check the church office for a bag during the week or check with Alice Mary Honeycutt on Sunday mornings.
Operation Christmas Child: Two of our men, James and Luther, picked up the cartons the shoeboxes will be packed into. Pray for those who will be working to do that now and during collection week in November.
Prayer Focus for Today: Today, let’s pray for those who be making purchases for the bags for community children. What a blessing they are to this ministry.
Today is departure day number two. The last four family members, and David, are headed to the airport. When David gets home, there will be just the two of us again. It has been good to have all the company and get to “catch up” on all their lives and to give real hugs. Pray for the last four as they travel today.
Today, I want to share the good news the Rev. Joe Dunn, interim pastor of First Baptist Church, Amite, is now at his heavenly home and no longer suffering with cancer. Pray for his family and church family as they will miss him so much in the coming days.
Also, please continue to pray for Gary Hendry and Linda, who is having a time of difficulty with her back. Thank God for church friends who can help them out during this time.

PRAYER FOCUS FOR TODAY
Today, let’s focus on the many church staff people in all our area churches. You probably know a few staff member of churches other than the ones at your own church. Pray for then as many have a job that puts them “on duty” 24 / 7. They all love God and their church members and gladly meet our needs in many ways. May God continue to bless them. May we recognize their many ways of serving and loving our communities. May God richly bless each one as we honor their service this month.
This is departure day for some of our family. Many will be leaving at 5:00 (2) and (3) or 8:00 (3) this morning. The others are flying out early (3) or mid-afternoon (1) tomorrow. This certainly will be a lonesome home tomorrow. It was great to have them all here. We pray for their protection as they travel back home and to their lives there.

PRAYER FOCUS
Today, let’s focus on those who are hospitalized and those who are in rehab. We all know these are helpful places to have a family member, but they are often difficult because of the separation. Pray for your own family members, if any, and for others you may know.
Today is a day of worship and Bible study. Remember, each lesson and each message has an application for our lives. They are not just speeches. Don’t miss out.
Services at FBC, Kentwood will include Sunday School at 9: 15 A.M. and worship at 10:30 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. The youth and children will have their own times to study in the Lighthouse and the L-wing. I know the children will be so amazed when they see the mural on the wall in their new area. It was hand-painted by church member, Lanie C. White, this week.
It’s never too late to contribute to any missions offering. This includes Georgia Barnette (Louisiana), Operation Christmas Child, and Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, but is not limited to these three.
My heart rejoices! We have both of our children, their spouses, all six grandchildren, and two extras under our roofs tonight. This is the first time in several years this has happened. They all came to go to an LSU football game, but they are here! My heart if full..

Let’s pray for all the college football players and fans this weekend. Many people are involved in each game. Pray for them all as they travel and play.
DAY OF PREPARATION
Saturday is our day to prepare for worship and Bible study. Many also choose to prepare clothing and food early to simplify things on the Lord’s Day. I think it wise to try to eliminate as much of the struggle as you cam on the Lord’s Day. Do what fits your family.
Please excuse the absence of TPL. We did not go on another trip, but were having difficulty with our internet.
Velta Morris had her colon surgery Wednesday. It went well. Bill thanks you for your prayers. Keep praying for her as she heals.

Aubrey Cara Leigh
November 4, 1988 – October 12, 2022
Aubrey Cara Leigh passed peacefully from this earth to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. She was born on November 4, 1988, in Metairie, Louisiana to James and Wanda Leigh. Aubrey grew up in New Orleans with her mother, older sister Ashton, and little brother Storm. Her family instilled in her a love for the Lord. She loved her family dearly but had a special relationship with Storm. They were close in age and both claimed that they were kindred spirits or as Storm would say, “thick as thieves”. She went to school in the New Orleans area except for the 2005-2006 school year of Katrina when she attended Jewel Sumner High School located outside of Kentwood, LA. It was there that she met Wade who would years later become her soulmate. After returning to New Orleans, she graduated high school in Metairie and spent a brief time in college. On June 19, 2012, Aubrey became a mother to her son, Mason. She adored her little boy and cherished being his mother. Through the years, Aubrey had many trials and tribulations, but she always had a heart of gold and a love for God. She could never look the other way if a person was in need and could never pass up an abandoned cat or dog. Those that knew her would speak of her love for children. She looked at her life as if it were her responsibility to care for the weak and less fortunate. Her beautiful, dancing eyes and great, big smile would illuminate any room. She had a way of being funny and not even knowing it and don’t ever ask her a question unless you wanted to know the truth of how she felt. Even Aubrey’s laugh was true. She didn’t hold back and at times it was almost boisterous. Aubrey was always so appreciative of the little things. She was humble and caring. Those who knew her, appreciated the fact that when they were with her, she was always present; she never let her phone or other distraction take her away from a good conversation. Aubrey was beautiful inside and out. During this last year, Aubrey and Wade reconnected and pledged their love to one another and had the best year of their lives. They were so perfect for each other, and their love was evident to all they met. They hunted, fished, cooked, and gardened. They did everything together. They both loved being outdoors because they felt closer to God. Aubrey would say, “How could anyone not believe in God after seeing all this?” Aubrey and Wade were expecting baby “Eliza” on October 19th. She always told Wade that all she ever wanted was to be a good mother and be loved. Our sweet Aubrey is now in heaven holding her beautiful baby girl. We will forever hold them in our hearts. Aubrey is survived by her mother, Wanda Leigh of Baton Rouge/New Orleans, her son, Mason Bienvenue of Baton Rouge, her sister, Ashton Leigh of Baton Rouge, her brother, Storm Leigh of Baton Rouge, Maamaw Bonita Leigh, her Uncle Mike Leigh and Aunt Nicole Leigh, niece, Kaitlyn Buonagura, and multiple family members including Heather Leigh, and Tisha Leigh. She is also survived by Wade Lea, and his family, Cyndi and Brad Blades, Terry and Amy Lea, Matthew Lea and Noah Lea. Aubrey was preceded in death by her older brother, Warren Buonagura II her father, James Leigh Jr., Grandpa Emanuel and Grandma Florida Palmisano Sr., Papi James Leigh Sr., uncle, Emanuel Palmisano III, and Belinda Palmisano. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9:00AM until religious services at 1:00PM on Monday, October 24, 2022. Services conducted by Bro. Eric Latham. For an online guestbook, visit http://www.mckneelys.com.
