Friday’s Replacement

My daily prayer sent to me today!

World Leader

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications,

prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks

be made for all men, for kings

and all who are in authority,

that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life

in all godliness and reverence.”

About an hour a ago,

I watched as our president

Baptist Press has had some great articles about Hurricane Harvey.  You may even want to go back and read some of their past articles.

Monday, September 11th, the Two Rivers Associational WMU will meet at FBC,Amite to learn more about the Georgia Barnett Offering for Louisiana.  With all the flooding in SW Louisiana, we will surely need extra funds to help rebuild churches and missions in LA.  We will meet at 10 A.M. and conclude with lunch.  Rev. Don Meadows will be our speaker.

I am loving teaching Children on Mission on Wednesday nights and Children’s Bible Drill on Sunday nights.  If you have/know of any children who are not attending, please encourage them to join us at 6 P.M.

I’m sorrow about the problem with TPL this morning.

“A Game-changing Attitude”

Dr. Waylon Bailey

http://waylonbailey.com/2017/08/29/a-game-changing-attitude/

“And for this I rejoice.

And I shall rejoice.”

~Philippians 1:18b~

Hurricane Harvey is still a big prayer concern.  As we have watched the new, we see places we where a week and a half ago as we returned from Baylor.  This is hard to imagine and surely extremely difficult to live through.  Let’s keep praying for the areas of Texas where Harvey has invaded.  Today, we can add areas of Louisiana to the list. There are numerous ways to help the people.  I’ve been updating my Facebook page with helpful information so you can participate in helping those affected by this storm.  Over and over. I hear requests for prayer.

Some, if not all, of the area schools are closing for the day because the storm is moving more to the east as it enters Louisiana.  Check the website of specific schools if you need more information.

Even though it has been raining here for some time, the newest forecast shows the arrival of the rain and wind in our area to be around 8 A. M. today.

May God calm the fears and concerns about the storm.

KK Huckaby shared this post about Josiah yesterday.

Day 175: Wow…did I really just put 175??? Crazy! Josiah is doing well. He’s kind of plateaued the last couple of weeks with his oxygen requirements so they are going to increase his dosage of steroids to see if this will help wean him off of the oxygen because he’s still on the bubble CPAP. We are still waiting to hear what the plan is for his right kidney. There has been some back & forth about whether he can handle a major surgery without it causing more harm than good. So the alternative to reconstruction for the obstruction is to put in a nephrostomy tube/catheter to bypass the obstruction & save the function of his kidney. Hopefully we will have a plan in place tomorrow. As far as his “milestones”, he started laughing 2 weeks ago and it is the sweetest thing. He has no sound to his laugh but his face is so expressive! He started taking his pacifier some this week. He’s been working hard on holding items in his hands and on holding his head up. He doesn’t like to sleep when he knows there is stuff going…he’s just so social & doesn’t want to miss a thing! 💙💙💙

Pray for Koltyn Gafford and his mom as they travel to New Orleans today for a check-up.

Read the Bible – Matthew 15-16 & Psalm 89

In the same way, faith by itself,

“There is a Name I Love to Hear/O How I Love Jesus”

The children in Bible Drill Class learned more about their Bibles last night and read & discussed the story of the creation.  If you have a boy/girl or grandson/granddaughter, ask them to tell you about the creation.  They can tell you the story and locate it in their Bible.  They are so amazing to teach.  Thank you for Betty Simpson and Susan Frazier for faithfully helping with the children of Sundays and Wednesdays.

Thank-you to those who brought calculators for Operation Christmas Child.  We could use some more of the $1.00 calculators that can be found at the dollar stores.  This week, we will be shopping for colorful bandanas.  Some very pretty ones have already been turned in.  Yesterday, three individuals gave me cash to shop for them.  David and I will do that and give a copy of the receipts to the donors.  Yesterday morning and afternoon, I was able to work on organizing the items given so far.  Our grandson has given time periodically this summer.  Last night, after helping before church, our daughter decided to work while I was teaching class to finish up some things.  Later this week, I will be able to list items we are running short on.

I would love to pop out of the shoeboxes as they are opened in a couple of months.  What joy they must experience as they receive the gifts and the opportunity to learn about Jesus!

Anna Lee

Operation Christmas Child

  • We were hoping to have enough pencils & pens to give each child a whole pack. I think we are a little short of that at this time.
  • This week we are collecting $1.00 calculators for the oldest children who will receive shoeboxes.  These are usually found at dollar stores and sometimes Walmart.  We bought the ones at one Walmart for $.88.  Check around.
  • Next week, we will be collecting bandanas of various colors.  We have found them from $.50 – $2.00.  Shop around.

The “Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party will be Tuesday of next week.  We had a good group last month and hope for a larger group next week.  Come celebrate August birthdays at The Cafe with us.  “Birthday ladies” get a free meal.

Last night, the boys and girls spent much of their time in Bible Drill class praying in a circle to thank God for many things and to learn how to use our Bibles.  We had a great class!  They learned so much.

Let’s continue to both pray and do for others.

A person’s wisdom yields patience;

it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

~Proverbs 19:11~

Josiah Huckaby, son of Job and KK

Josiah is 5 months old as of yesterday…he has been doing really well. They decided to put a nephrostomy tube in on Friday to drain one of his kidneys because of an obstruction from a kidney stone. His other kidney has an obstruction that will require reconstructive surgery in the future. The tube ended up coming out on Sunday & they were going to have to replace it on Monday. They decided to do another ultrasound to see how that kidney was looking…and PRAISE GOD it has improved enough that they won’t have to replace the nephrostomy tube for now. As of right now, the goal is to wean his oxygen down to home settings so that we can start discussing coming home. He has been staying awake all day (he can’t stand to miss any of the action) & sleeping all night…hope he keeps that up. 😉 He loves kicking his feet constantly while he’s awake & he’s starting to smile again! He also loves sitting up & watching people. He wiggles so much the nurses are always having to make sure he hasn’t wiggled to the bottom of the bed…they are constantly having to scoot him back up. Day 155 in the NICU has been an awesome day for Josiah! God is so good!!!

Mrs. Mimi Sneed was able to go home from a friend’s house where she was staying.  She did have to go for more medical tests yesterday, but the results were good.  Pray for her as she recovers from her accident.

Bettye Fussell is moving ahead to her next round of treatment which will begin Monday.  Pray for her to have strength and endurance for this phase of her “battle”.  She certainly has faced this journey with a positive attitude.  Keep her in your prayers.

Thank-you for praying for Jennie as she traveled.  She’ll be able to speak to many of you at church Sunday or the following Sunday.
