Wednesday Addition

Today is the last day to turn in a new hat for Zach’s Lidz for Kidz.  If you would like to turn in a hat after today, please let me know.

I have an article about Zach that will introduce you to his next project.  Zach and his mother, Sandy, are in Washington D.C. this week where he is one of six children being honored for his first project.  We can expect more great caring/sharing from him in the future.

We are continuing to collect bright flannel or 100% cotton fabric for Lara’s Gown’s for smiles.  Baskets are located under the sound room stairwell and under the steps at the northwest corner of the fellowship hall building.  This gives you another way to help sick children.

One more project.  Now is the time to send card, letters, picture, homemade cookies, jerky, etc. to the 205th Engineering Battalion serving in the Middle East.  If you send your items to Dawson Primes, he will share with others in his group.

Wednesday

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul,

a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,

where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf.

Pray for Carol New as she goes back to the doctor today.  Things haven’t been working smoothly for her.  Let’s pray today is a good day for her.

Jones Family – Think of the activities surrounding taking care of a baby.  Multiply that by five.  Add some extra physical needs for the babies and an older brother.  That describes the Jones’ household.

Coach Shaw is dealing with a pulled muscle.  Let’s pray he recovers quickly.

Monday

Tuesday, I will be having a MRI and seeing a neurologist at Ochsner in New Orleans.  This is a check-up on my brain tumor which was addressed with gamma knife surgery a year and a half ago.  I look forward to seeing how much more my brain tumor has shrunk since I was there a year ago for my last check-up.  I know I don’t hurt like I did for years before I had the surgery!  Join me in expecting a good report tomorrow.  Thank God for doctors who have skills and technology to treat medical issues in ways that were not possible in the past.

Thursday, we will have our monthly gathering at the cabin.  Join us at 6:30.  Our last meeting was one of the greatest worship services which I have been blessed to attend.  Don’t miss the blessing waiting for you Thursday!  It’s easy to mark your calendar for the “Third Thursday” each month.  That way you don’t forget when we meet.

Monday

Sometimes we have fears.  I just finished reading an essay on fears written by my sixth grade grandson, Miles.  He did an excellent job and impressed me with his writing and his understanding of how to overcome fears.  He named some of his fears and told how he overcame them.  Immediately after reading the essay, I read this verse.  I hope it helps some of you today.

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”

~James 5:16a NIV)~

Continue to pray for Mrs. A.J. Redmond who is in Greensburg.  Pray for Mrs. Betty Catherine Hatcher as she continues to be responsible for the care of her aunt.

Mr. George Eddie Lee will be having shoulder surgery this morning in Baton Rouge.  Pray all goes well and recovery is effective and speedy.

Mrs. Lois Bridges continues her recovery from two broken hips.  Pray for Dianne and Patricia as they work to get their mother the best care possible.

Graduation seems to have slipped up on me this year.  Pray for the high school and college graduates who are completing one phase of their life and moving on the the next.  Pray they allow God to guide them in the many decisions they face at this time and in the future.

Mother’s Day  was celebrated in churches yesterday.  FBC, Kentwood had a very meaningful service both in the music and in the message.  I know hearts were touched.

Missions – MFuge is one of the centrifuge camps.  It focuses on missions, an area we really need to encourage our teens in.  Where a camper, a chaperone, or a staff person, each person’s life is changed by the days at MFuge.

Scripture – Proverbs 31 – http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+31&version=NIV

David saw one of Caroline Cutrer’s family members who shared that she is doing well and how thankful they are to have all of you praying for them.  Let’s keep praying until she is completely clear of cancer for good.

Of all the articles I have read about Mother’s Day this year, this is my favorite.  I hope it touches your heart too.

“When he suffered, he made no threats.

Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.”

~1 Peter 2:23b LB~

We’ve been praying for Jadon for a while and have seen God work in his young life.  His newest report is that he has been 3 months without seizure medicine and 16 months without seizures.  God has really worked in that young life.

Amber Prine Ragan – God has worked in this life this week.  Pray for the Prine and Ragan families as they take this journey with Amber.

Amber Update: First let me say, God is so good! Prayers have been heard and answered. The pathology results confirmed that it s a grade 2 classification tumor. During surgery they were able to remove about 4 cm of the temporal lobe where the tumor is located (possibly 30% of the tumor was eradicated ). Dr Levine feels that Amber has had this tumor for several years. He believes that it has been very slow growing. We received more good news at our next appointment with the radiologist. He does not recommend radiation treatment due to the classification and slow growth of the tumor. At this point, we could not be more pleased with the reports. Our final appointment was with the neuro-oncologist, Dr De Groot. Amber will go through 12 months of chemotherapy treatment. The treatment will be an oral dose of temodar that she will take for 5 days each month . She will repeat MRIs every 2 months during the treatment period. The goal of the chemotherapy treatment will be to shrink the remaining section of the tumor or to stop it from growing.
We are so pleased with this plan of treatment. Amber will need to return back to MDA after completing her first round of treatment and again in July for an MRI. If all goes well, she will then be able to be supervised by a local neuro-oncologist.

Thank you again for all the support and prayers that you have showered Amber with over the past month. Our prayers have been answered…..
At first, the mother in me did not want to post the image, but Amber insisted! Honestly, I have to agree with her….she kicked butt!
Happy Mother’s Day to all…… I know this Mommy will have a good one!
Love to all….
Kathy (Ree Ree)

Mrs. Susie Wales has moved into the house between Chris & Kathy and David & me.  Her improvement is amazing!  Thank God for what he has done in this family.
