Mr. James Miller needed two more units of blood and platelets yesterday.  To help keep blood available for those like him who need it, there will be a blood drive on Sunday, January  24th.  I’ll tell you more later, but mark your calendar now.  (David and I have had the opportunity to be with Mr. James when he got blood or platelets.  The unit at the hospital was full each time.  This let me know again how important blood drives are.)

    Macy Gueldner

We celebrated WEEK 100 this week! Macy is on the 100th week of her 3rd phase of treatment. Tomorrow she begins week 101 with her very last doses of vincristine and dex. This is pretty “big time” for her. These are the meds (chemo and steroid) that give her bone and nerve pain. We are happy for her to be kicking these two to the curb! Now, she only has 19 more weeks left of methotrexate and mercaptopurine (6mp.)

She’s been feeling well, but those nasty mouth sores never really go away anymore. Although you wouldn’t know it unless she gives you a good look in her mouth (which is rare.) Please pray that these last doses of vinc/dex aren’t too hard on her this weekend. We’re all ready to enjoy a good holiday. Merry Christmas from Team Macy.

Johnny Belgard’s new liver was working well at bedtime last night.  I’ve been checking my phone for an update, but nothing yet.  I’ll post one when I get one.  I’m certainly thanking God Johnny was able to have the new liver and all seemed to be going well.

Shelton Day, one of our neighbors, is hospitalized because his potassium level is too high. Please add him to your prayer list.

Ora Lee Wilson told me her grandson, Brandon, has been getting some good reports.  Let’s thank God Brandon did not really have the problems the doctors suspected at first.

Harrell Sharkey and his family learned his cancer is only in one location and can be successfully removed with surgery, which will be in January.  Thank God for another good report.

    Thankfulness: Day 20

Expectations are wonderful.  Sometimes we live to meet our own expectations and sometimes for those of others.  Many have an expectation of Jesus’ return “One Day”.  I’m thankful to be in that number looking forward to that day and trying to make sure others have the same thing to look forward to.

I hope and trust you have a similar expectation.

Yesterday, when I offered to do something for Jane Wickham, she only asked for prayers.  So many people need to know the power of prayer and then use it.

Jane Wickham is at North Oaks.  Her request is for prayer.

Freida Jones went home yesterday afternoon.  Keep her in your prayers as she heals.  The  surgery went well.  Now, pray for the healing process.

Kendall Ott is doing well.  He was also able to come home yesterday.  He will get good care at home.  Pray for his healing.

Jesse Dean has had some difficult days following his neck surgery.  Pray for him as he sees this doctor today.

Mrs. Anne Hurst was able to be at prayer meeting.  She is thankful for the progress she has made.  Keep her on your prayer list.

Both Kenneth Birch and Kenny Ray Gill had surgery Tuesday at Our Lady of the Lake.  Pray for the recovery process and for long-term healing.

    Thankfulness: Day 19

Today, I’m thankful for all the ways others have shown love to me throughout my life – family, school teacher, church members, school mates, co-workers, etc., the all their love together does not come near to the love God has for me.  That doesn’t excuse us from expressing our love through works or actions though.  Lord, help me to do a better job of showing my love for others by my words and my actions.

    The LORD is slow to anger and great in power;

the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished.

His way is in the whirlwind and the storm,

and clouds are the dust of his feet.

    ~Nahum 1:3~

I’m thanking God for watching over all of us last night.  The weather got bad as that big wind hit about 11:00, but the reports I have heard are only of minor damage.

Please continue to pray for all the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes that are being collected around the world this week.  Our shoeboxes were turned in at Franklinton.  A member of that church said they packed 700 shoeboxes this year!  I know God will bless each of the 700 children who receive one of those shoeboxes.
