Wednesday Addition

Update of James Miller

Mr. James received blood for the 14th time yesterday.  He was feeling much better after that.  Plans are being made for a blood drive for him.  I’ll give you that information when the plans are finalized.

Update on Johnny Belgard

Update on Johnny:  Surgery went well; it was tough because of infection and inflammation but liver is working well.  The surgeon said the liver was a good one.  Recovery went well.  Susan got to see him this morning and he was very happy to see her.  He can’t talk because of tube in throat but he is alert and doing well.  He has a long road to recovery (according to surgeon) but prognosis is good.  Continue praying.

Janet A. Hammons (The Belgards are Jan’s neighbors.)

Wednesday

proclaiming the good news

of peace through Jesus Christ–

He is Lord of all.”

Macy Gueldner

We celebrated WEEK 100 this week! Macy is on the 100th week of her 3rd phase of treatment. Tomorrow she begins week 101 with her very last doses of vincristine and dex. This is pretty “big time” for her. These are the meds (chemo and steroid) that give her bone and nerve pain. We are happy for her to be kicking these two to the curb! Now, she only has 19 more weeks left of methotrexate and mercaptopurine (6mp.)

She’s been feeling well, but those nasty mouth sores never really go away anymore. Although you wouldn’t know it unless she gives you a good look in her mouth (which is rare.) Please pray that these last doses of vinc/dex aren’t too hard on her this weekend. We’re all ready to enjoy a good holiday. Merry Christmas from Team Macy.

Johnny Belgard’s new liver was working well at bedtime last night.  I’ve been checking my phone for an update, but nothing yet.  I’ll post one when I get one.  I’m certainly thanking God Johnny was able to have the new liver and all seemed to be going well.

Shelton Day, one of our neighbors, is hospitalized because his potassium level is too high. Please add him to your prayer list.

Ora Lee Wilson told me her grandson, Brandon, has been getting some good reports.  Let’s thank God Brandon did not really have the problems the doctors suspected at first.

Harrell Sharkey and his family learned his cancer is only in one location and can be successfully removed with surgery, which will be in January.  Thank God for another good report.

It is wonderful to be able to share all good updates this morning!

Jadon’s Journey – 12-8-15

(Jadon) had a great checkup today with his neurologist. He read all 4 of the words she wrote down for him. She was very impressed with him and his progress. We just love her. She was able to get a $4000 test approved for Jadon. This test will give us lots of information on how his brain functions. We are now on the 2 month waiting list for a neuropsychological test. She also had to show Jadon off to her nurses. She made him walk, talk, and put his hands above his head. She then showed them the CT scan of Jadon’s half brain. Of course they couldn’t believe it. She loves showing him off. She calls him miracle boy.

It was a joy to give packages to the patients at Kentwood Manor early yesterday evening.  A group from FBC, Kentwood sang Christmas carols to guitar music as we walked up and down the halls giving out packages.  Members contributed the items we distributed.  The packages and the caroling were big hits!

We all have certain days that have special meaning in our lives.  Sometimes, it’s good.  Sometimes, it’s sad.  Today is one of those days for me.  My grandmother, Jennie Lee Wilkinson Draughon, passed away early on a Sunday morning.  Jennie, my daughter, was almost three and the only great, grandchild.  She saw my mother, my two aunts, and I sitting at the breakfast room table.  There were tears.  Jennie looked around and said, “Why are you crying?  “Ganky” is in heaven today!”  You can only imagine the smiles, more tears, and and big hugs with kisses she received from everyone.

Heaven is surely a wonderful place to celebrate Christmas!
