Thursday Evening

I’ve intended to update you about Jimmy Tolar all day, but just failed to do so.  Jimmy was in the ER all night.  Today, he was given a room and had lots of tests.  The fluid buildup was a heart problem caused by eating the wrong food.  Jimmy will probably get to come home tomorrow.  Hopefully, this problem is solved.

Thursday

And God is able to bless you abundantly,

so that in all things at all times,

having all that you need,

will abound in every good work.

~2 Corinthians 9:8~

Mr. Jimmy Tolar was taken to Hood Memorial and then transferred to OLOL.  Please be in prayer for him, his family, and his doctors.

Continue to pray for Mrs. Kathryn Kuss.  She is limiting her outings more.

Continue to thank God for the progress Mansell Stinson has made.

Macy Gueldner is finished with her chemo, but still has her port.  Last night her mother had to make an emergency trip to the hospital in Baton Rouge that has been involved with Macy’s treatment.  Macy had high fever and other problems.  Pray for this family to remain strong and faithful even on the most difficult of days!  May Macy’s family be reminded of God’s faithfulness, even of the difficult days.

It’s the time of year to think of graduations, and even more importantly, graduates!  You may or may not be attending the actual graduation ceremonies.  The graduates may or may not be relatives, but graduation, at any level, is a big step.  Today, let’s think of all the graduates we know and say or do something to guide and encourage them in life.

Monday Update

Jordan has a bruise on the left side of his brain and some scattered bruises associated with head trauma. They will monitor him for another couple of hours before deciding to put a brain pressure monitor on him. He was responding earlier but isn’t at the moment under sedation. Will know more this afternoon. Thank you all for praying.

Monday

LORD, you establish peace for us;

all that we have accomplished

you have done for us.

Isaiah 26:12

I had to share this prayer request for Mrs. Grace Chadwick just as it came to me.  You’ll understand it that when you read it.  Also, “Miss” Grace is probably the oldest mother I know.

Please keep my Grandmother Grace in your prayers. We had to take her to Hood’s ER yesterday morning, and from there, she was transferred to North Oaks . According to the Dr., the test show that she has had a mild heart attack, and will be having an angiogram tomorrow, but we don’t know what time yet. There is a possibility that she has a blockage, and if so, they will be putting in a stint. She is in good spirits, and wants to have this done. She has plans for things that she is looking forward to doing this summer, and is not letting this stand in her way. She was so funny yesterday morning. When she finally decided that she should go to the hospital, she asked us to call and ask if they could see her and send her home. When I told her that they could not decide that over the phone, she wanted to know if we thought that when we drove up to the emergency room doors, they would come out and give her something for nausea, and let us be on our way back home. I told her that at this time, Hood’s doesn’t have a drive through service, so she decided that she needed to go by Acadian Ambulance. The nurses in Hood’s ER, thought that the drive through service idea was too funny, and assured her that the idea would be put in the hospital suggestion box, lol. Don’t think for one minute that she’s not on top of things. They can’t believe that she’s 94. They keep saying that she doesn’t look or act like she is. Thank you so much for your prayers, we really appreciate them!

Operation Christmas Child – If you were not at church Sunday, but will be shopping today or tomorrow, stop by the church today to pull some cards from the OCC wreaths in the auditorium.  Our gifts will bless some young boys and girls who might not otherwise have any Christmas gifts.  Best of all, they will have literature and opportunities to learn about Jesus because of the “shoebox” we send.

Today, let’s focus our prayers on the faces and names of those who were once more active than they are now, the homebound.  Let’s not follow the old saying, “Our of sight, out of mind!”.  They are not limited to this quick list I made this morning.

  • Othell Williams
  • Philip and Annie Bell Harrell
  • Evelyn Bridges
  • Hazel Smith
  • Ed and Jeanette McGehee
  • Catherine Yarborough (Kentwood Manor)
  • Jimmy Schwartz
  • Frances Strickland (Landmark Nursing Home)
  • Angie Redmond (Greensburg Nursing Home)
  • Lucy Goings (Landmark Nursing Home)

Pray for those graduating from high schools, colleges, and seminaries this month.  I’ll not attempt to list them all.

Today is the National Day of Prayer across our nation.  Most towns/communities/cities will have a celebration of some sort.  If you cannot participate at the set time and location, please set aside some time to have prayer with those at your home or even alone.  In Amite, the event will be at the city hall at 11:30 this morning.  In Kentwood, the ceremony will begin at noon.  Join them if you can.
