Monday Addition

Joey and Rory

http://thislifeilive.com/an-answer-to-prayer/

My friend, Kathy Dunn, attended the World Day of Prayer Monday of last week.  It was wonderful to learn about other women and pray.  Kathy gave me permission to share the thoughts she wrote last Tuesday.

This morning I had the privilege of meeting with many Christian women in our area for World Day of Prayer. We learned of the needs and ministries to women in countries all around our world. As we separated into 7 different groups gathered all over our sanctuary to pray for specific needs for women groups in each country, I was so humbled as I heard prayers being lifted up aloud in that room. It suddenly dawned on me that WMU groups were meeting all over our country and prayers were being lifted at all these meetings possibly at the same time and what that must sound like to our God and what power there is in those prayers. Scripture says that if Gods people, who are called by His name will humble themselves in prayer, then He will heal our land.

Sunday, FBC Kentwood will host the annual associational Lottie Moon Tea.  This has been one of the highlights of Christmas since we started doing this.  We will meet at 2:00 and welcome all ladies from three years old to one hundred three years old.  I’ve already heard from ladies of various churches who plan to attend.  This event is for all ladies.  You do not have to be a member of a WMU organization.  Having a love of missions and caring about others will make the day meaningful to each of us.

Saturday

I will listen

to what God the LORD will say;

he promises peace to his people,

his saints–

but let them not return to folly.

~Psalm 85:8~

Great news!  Connor Corkern got well enough that he didn’t need to be at Children’s Hospital any longer.  Thank God for his progress and the faithfulness of many people.

Mr. James Miller has had a couple good days at home.  Please keep him in your prayers.

Thankfulness: Day 7

Today, I’m thankful for intercessory prayer.  I’m thankful for the times I’ve had to pray for others and the times others prayed for me.  Yesterday, at Bible study, a sweet lady told us she prayed for each of us every day.    That’s an awesome example of intercessory prayer.

Enjoy the day God has sent us today.  Make some sweet memories with those you love and/or with those who need your love today.  Maybe, they need to know of God’s love.  You can be the one to tell them all about Him!

On this day, Oct. 31, four years ago today, I had gamma knife brain surgery.    I am happy to report my tumor continues to shrink!  I was able to enjoy Fall Fest Activities at NOBTS that very night with my daughter’s family.

Today, I have a long list of people who need our prayers.

  • Eleanor Morris has joined the list of those who have taken a fall.  It always takes longer to recover than to fall and get hurt.  Add her to your prayer list.
  • Mrs. Velma Anthony is finally doing better after her fall.  Thank God for her improvement.
  • Betty Simpson is having back issues.  Add her to your prayer list.
  • Ora Lee Wilson’s sister, Juanita Booty, can’t seem to get well.  Now, she has pneumonia.  Keep her on your prayer list.
  • Mrs. Gloria Boone also needs to be on your prayer lists.  As you pray for her, please pray for her family.
  • Mr. James Miller fell and is hospitalized again.  This time he is in Covington.
  • Mrs. Glenda McKean is slowly improving after breaks in both ankles.  She may be able to leave Hood Memorial the first of next week.  Pray for her as she begins walking again.
  • Mrs. Anne Hurst is still hospitalized in Greensburg.  She enjoys company.
  • Rufus Williams continues to do well following his recent gall bladder surgery.  Keep him on your prayer list for a while.  Pray for Margie too!

David Wickham Update

From Cissy about David:
We have made it over one huge hurdle!  They took him off the vent this morning!  Praise God for that.  He is on oxygen and will take some time , but both of us are celebrating this accomplishment. Hopefully, they will begin getting him up soon so he can leave ICU and transfer to the post surgery floor.  I know without a doubt God has given us strength this week to endure this agonizing experience.  Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and continue lifting us up for the days ahead.

Jane Wickham is at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary and looking forward to less hurting and getting home to Kentwood.

Velma Anthony has had three weeks of pain now and is waiting on additional tests to determine the problem and the treatment needed.  Please keep her in your prayers.

Barbara Hutchinson is looking forward to getting back to this area.  She has made plans for her caregivers for the coming weeks.  Let’s pray God has similar plans for her next steps.
