Sherry Day has bad news and great news!  The bad news is that she has cellulitis in her arms.  The good news is that the brain biopsy did not indicated cancer.  Please continue to pray for her and her family.
Koltyn Gafford made a big step of progress yesterday.
Amazing day in speech therapy trying out his swallowing capabilities with some apple sauce and he passed with flying colors! So proud of our little guy! Praise God for all your miracles!                                                                       Terri Chandler Russell (grandmother)
Doug Toney is not doing as well as expected as he recovers from surgery.  He is still having problems with blood pressure, medication, and kidneys.  Please pray for improvement.
Eugene Tackett’s surgery went well.  If all continues as hoped for, he should be able to be moved to a step-down unit by tomorrow.  Thank God for the good report.  Keep praying.

Third Thursday at the Cabin

There are old sayings about a little rain keeping people from church.  Once again we had a terrible storm before and during some of our meeting.  We had a great group and a very blessed night despite the storm.  Thanks to all who participated and all who came to listen.  I know we were all blessed!

Don’t let rain today keep you for ministering to others.

Salvador Joseph Misita – One of my Amite High School band directors

September 14, 1928 – March 27, 2015

Mr. Salvador was peacefully welcomed to his Heavenly Home on March 27, 2015 while surrounded by his loving family. A true gentleman, Sal was known for his compassionate nature and selfless acts of kindness. He never raised his voice and it was not uncommon for him to be forgiving and understanding. A romantic man, Sal would often be noticed giving his wife subtle winks to remind her of his love. Mr. Sal graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University’s music school, and dedicated his life to teaching future generations of young musicians and making them a force to be reckoned with. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and also played trumpet for the Military Band. Some of most treasured pass times included fishing, golfing, and making lasting memories with his family. Salvador is survived by his wonderful wife of 51 years, Hilda Misita, as well as numerous nieces and nephews that refused to leave his side during his long journey. The family would like to offer a special thank you to his gracious caregiver, Essie Price. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Misita; sisters, Jennie Danna and Anna Labruzzo; and brothers, Tony, Vincent, and Roy Misita. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon. G Thompson Funeral Home, in Hammond, on Monday, March 30, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. with the recitation of the rosary beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Dr. Tom Cobb and Father Cayet Mangiaracina will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Friday Addition

David and I took a ride to see one area touched by the tornado last night.  It’s just down 441 a mile or two.  Joey and Meagan S. Drago were surrounded by downed trees, but their house seems to be just fine.  Most of the trees seem to have fallen on fences, so there will be some cleaning up and repairing in the next few days.  Thankfully, that seems to be the extent of the damage near us.

While out, we stopped at Sherry Day‘s house to leave something.  She came out and sat and visited for a while.  She is doing so much better than anyone had even hoped for.  I would like to take her around for “show and tell” today as an example of God’s might work this week.

Charles Danny Venable, Sr. , 67 died at 3:55pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 due to complications following heart surgery. “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” John 14:1. Danny was born August 7, 1947, in Amite. He was Director of Mechanical Testing at Welding Testing Laboratory in Baton Rouge, LA and taught welding at Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 198. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marlene Valentine Venable; his children, Charles Danny “CD” Venable, Jr., Milton Richard “Ricky” Venable and wife Marilyn, Aimee Venable Payne, Christina Venable Breaux and husband, Rhett; his grandchildren, Chase Venable and wife DeAnna, Megan Venable, Jordan Venable, Danny Ray Venable, Dylan Payne, Brittney Payne, Brayden Montalvo, Cade Breaux, Kaylin Breaux, and Kinley Breaux; his great grandchildren, Darrelyn Venable, Carter Venable; his parents, David E. Lee, Sr. and Annie Mae Kimble Lee; his siblings, Bernadette Cazes and husband Billy, Oscar Lee and wife Regina, David E. Lee, Jr. and wife Toni, and Joyce Parker; his sister-in-law, Jeanie Valentine; and his brother-in-law, Leighton Valentine. The family will receive friends at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. Visitation will resume on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 9:00am. Rev. Howard Turner will conduct funeral services at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Killian Chapel Cemetery in Montpelier, LA. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Patel, Dr. Bringaze, nurses and staff at Baton Rouge General Hospital, Bluebonnet. West Rome Baptist Church offers immersive ‘Journey’ event through Jesus Christ’s last days on earth

Floyd – Rome november – rome northwest gerogia credit union – new ad

Posted: Thursday, April 2, 2015 8:00 am
The members of West Rome Baptist Church are inviting everyone to immerse themselves in the moments that led to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ through a special, self-guided tour.
The event — Journey to the Cross — began Wednesday evening and continues today from 6-9 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Good Friday at the 914 Shorter Ave. church.
Admission is free. Beginning with The Last Supper, visitors are able to wander freely through areas set up to resemble the places where important events in Christ’s final hours took place.
People can go through the Garden of Gethsemane, the courtyard where Christ was taken to see Pontius Pilate, and then the place of his crucifixion and resurrection.
“Our members and volunteers worked really hard to make each setting as realistic as possible,” Pastor Jarrod Roberts said.
Along the way, notes and displays contain biblical passages and information about certain items and how they relate to the scene.
Everyone who attends gets a reference book to follow along with. It also contains links to get information on a mobile device, including videos that correspond to each area.
A scavenger hunt is available for children, and guests may take communion at the end of the program.
“We really feel that if a person comes through, they have worshipped the Lord,” Roberts said.
This is the second year that West Rome Baptist has organized the event.
It was only held from 6-9 p.m. last year on Good Friday, and Roberts said more than 700 people of all ages participated.
“It really blew us away,” Roberts said. “So this year we wanted to have it opened as many times as possible.”
By being open all day on Good Friday, Roberts said he hopes people will be moved to come and spend more time going through the exhibits.
“One of the things about last year was we had a lot of people in line, so you were kind of forced to immediately move on to the next thing,” Roberts said. “You didn’t have time to reflect on the moment and the message.”
Both adult and child programs are offered for the event along with a special walk-through for college students.
