Friday

Just as people are destined to die once,

and after that to face judgment,

so Christ was sacrificed once

to take away the sins of many;

and he will appear a second time,

not to bear sin,

but to bring salvation to those

who are waiting for him.

Mrs. Estelle Raborn is still not well, but she is home again.  Please pray for her and for Bobby as he cares for her.
Harrell Sharkey. Jr. will probably come home today from Ochsner.  Pray for him and his family as they await biopsy results.

Pray for our world.  There are many people full of terrible hate and not the love of God.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.

The life I now live in the body,

I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

— Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

For Christ’s love compels us,

because we are convinced that one died for all,

and therefore all died.

And he died for all,

that those who live should no longer live for themselves

but for him who died for them and was raised again.

~2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (NIV)~

“Living for Jesus”

If you heard Wendel Rhodus speak Sunday, this song may describe how we are to live our “dash”, the mark between our date of birth and our date of death on our tombstone.

Tuesday

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!

Shout, Daughter Jerusalem!

See, your king comes to you,

righteous and victorious,

lowly and riding on a donkey,

on a colt,

the foal of a donkey.

We talked with Betty Fussell yesterday.  She said the transfusions had made her feel so much stronger. Betty says she is eating more thanks to Fuzzy’s encouragement.  She’s looking forward to having a chemo treatment Monday.  Please continue to pray for them.

Debbie Miller was scheduled to return to Greensburg after a brief stay at Oceans.  She is doing much better.  She’s always seems to enjoy visits.  Please continue to pray for her and for her family.

Willard Helsel of Roseland also passed away.  Most of you have seen his swings and rockers for sell in the curve south of Roseland.  Some of you are rocking and swinging in them.  His son-in-law, Heath Rohner, posted an awesome tribute to him on Facebook.  It touched my heart too!

“We are going up to Jerusalem,

and the Son of Man

will be delivered over to the chief priests

They will condemn him to death

and will hand him over to the Gentiles

On the third day he will be raised to life!”

Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time

Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem.

On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them,

“We are going up to Jerusalem,

and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests

and the teachers of the law.

They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles

to be mocked and flogged and crucified.

On the third day he will be raised to life!”

Read the Bible – II Samuel 13-15 and Psalm 90

If you have been reading the Bible according to the plan I post each day, you will have read 25% of the Bible so far.  We are on our 10th book of the Old Testament.  We have also read about 33% of Psalms.  Best of all, we are learning so much.  I find I can always learn more, even if the passage seems very familiar.  You can always pick up the reading where we are OR go back to Genesis and start there.

He was despised and rejected by mankind,

a man of suffering,

and familiar with pain.

Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised,

and we held him in low esteem.

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering,

yet we considered him punished by God,

stricken by him,

and afflicted.

 ~Isaiah 53:3-4 (NIV)~
