Saturday

Greater love has no one than this:

to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

~John 15:13~

Sherman Cutrer‘s A-fib returned.  Needless to say, he did not get to come home yet.  Pray as the doctors work to get his medication adjusted to keep the A-fib at bay. Pray for the family, especially Jewell Kay.

Mrs. Catherine Yarborough has be in and out of the hospital again.  Remember her and her family in your prayers.

Ruthie Dykes is still at Hood Memorial.  She is better, but not ready to go home.

Justin Lambert (33) was in a motorcycle accident a few days ago.  He’s in Jackson, MS. and only has one broken bone.  Pray for him and his family and other health issues are addressed.

Jeana Lee-Newton, daughter of Ricky and Brenda Russell, will be admitted to the hospital Monday for a very important surgery. Pray for her, the medical staff, and her family.

The VBS program at Kentwood involved many of the children who had been in attendance all week.  It always thrills my heart to be able to teach in Bible school and hopefully plant a “seed” of missions in young hearts.  Thanks to the children for coming, the parents, and the workers at VBS.  New Zion will have their program at 6:00 Sunday night.

Right off my head, I know that Roseland, Spring Creek, and the Lord’s Church will be having VBS next week.  May “seeds”continued to be planted and nurtured.

Wendell Rhodus, youth minister at Oyska and former youth at Kentwood, will be ordained into the ministry at FBC Sunday night at 6 P.M.  You are invited to honor Wendell with your presence and your prayers.

Thursday

This is how we know what love is:

Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.

And we ought to lay down our lives

for our brothers and sisters

~ John 3:16~

Ruthie Dykes is in room 10 at Hood Memorial with an infection.  Pray for her as she improves.

Sherman Cutrer is not doing as well as his family hoped.  Please say special prayers for him, his family, and the medical staff caring for him.

Pray for Jonathan and Ashley Statham as they welcome their son into the world this morning.

VBS Day 4 – I’m as excited to teach missions again today as the children are to get to be there.  Pray for a good day for all students, teachers, and churches having VBS today.

Wednesday

“They desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one.

Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God,

for he has prepared for them a city.”

~Hebrews 11:16b, ESV~

David “Booger Red” Bryant has done much better since being transferred to Ochsner in New Orleans.  He is awake and off the vent.  They may not need to do the gall bladder surgery after all.  Keep praying.

Sherman Cutrer had been dealing with A-fib.  Before that, he was doing very well.  Let’s pray the A-fib is short-lived and Sherman makes more improvement.  While at the hospital Monday night, Jewel Kay fell in the parking lot.  Pray she isn’t too sore to do the things she needs to do for Sherman.  Thankfully, she apparently did not break any bones when she fell.

Pray for the children at FBC, Kentwood VBS today.  All the older children will learn about salvation.  It is always one of my favorite happenings at VBS.

Patsy, sister of Theople Hurst and Bobbie Magee, will have a lung procedure today.  Pray they can get some helpful information.

Last night, David and I were blessed to join many of our neighbors as they honored Bro. Kevin and Jana Smith who have served eight years at Pine Ridge and Tangipahoa.  It was wonderful to hear of all the memories and testimonies.  Toni Travis Black, vocalists, and musicians at Galilee Baptist Church did an awesome job of leading the service.  There was plenty of foot-stomping, clapping, and singing! We were very blessed to have been a part of that special service.  God bless Bro. Kevin and Jana in their future church opportunities.

Many local Vacation Bible Schools begin today.  I hope you have volunteered your time.  If not, it is not too late.  Also, make sure your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and neighbors are in attendance this week.  May young lives be eternally this week.

  • I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.                                                                                                    ~Psalm 119:75~
  • “Because He Lives” was the hymn I selected yesterday.  This morning, I must use that hymn again.  Yesterday, at Pine Ridge, we were blessed to hear the son of Dwayne and Toni Black and grandson of Tommy and Ginger Travis, sing his heart out.  He just completed the third grade. May God continue to use this young man for His service.

Happy Monday!  Make this day meaningful in His service!

Pray for fifteen (15) volunteer missionaries from Montpelier Baptist Church who have now arrived in Nicaragua.  They have made a collected items since their last trip and involved their entire church in the project.  They go once or twice each year.  Great work is done while they are there.

Some members of FBC, Greensburg will soon be going to Haiti next month. This is a also a repeat for some of their members.  I think I heard the number seven (7), but am sure someone will help me with a correction if that is not accurate. Pray for them as they continue to collect and pact items to give to the people there.

David Bryant has been transferred to Ochsner with surgery possibly on Tuesday.  Please pray for David and his family.

Monday is memorial day.  Remember all the families of military personnel who did not safely return from their service to our country, but who gave their lives for a country they considered great and worthy of a possible sacrifice.  I do not know of anyone in my family, but David had an uncle who gave his life in France in WWII.  Pray for all families who have lost military personnel during their service.  Pray our country will remain strong and worthy of all the sacrifices of these people.
