The Baptist Disaster Relief meeting is at FBC, Franklinton at 3:00 this afternoon.  Each church needs to have some representation there.  A disaster relief team will be working to make damage assessments in our area through Wednesday. If you, or someone you know, has problems from the flooding, call the church office, 229-8111, and give a name, number, and address.  The team will take it from there.

Even though we are high and dry, many people are not.  Please pray for all those fighting flooding.  We have friends and family members in this situation, as do all of you.  Let’s pray and “put feet to those prayers”!

The heavy rain/flood has done much damage throughout our area.  Countless volunteers have been working since before the heavy rain got her and are still working.  Churches and other organizations are helping.  The area Baptist Churches will be meeting tomorrow at 3:00 at the missions office in Franklinton to organize plans for helping.  You are welcome to attend the meeting a participate in some of the work that is to follow.

Two churches of the many churches that had heavy damage are Mt. Nebo east of Roseland and Stateline Baptist Church in Washington Parish .  Mt. Nebo did not have flood insurance.   FBC, Kentwood had water in the basement area and the Lighthouse.  Work has already been done to improve the situation there.  Sunday School classes will probably be relocated in the morning.  Also, the AC has been used to help dry out water, so be prepared for it to be cooler than usual in the sanctuary.

Please pray for Mt. Nebo and Stateline churches and all the others that I do not about yet. Be available to do what you can to help them and for all the individual families throughout our area that were flooded 

Thank God for all those who stepped up/in to help beginning with the first drops and continuing as long as needed.  Thank God that for safety of thousands of people over the last few days.

Brenda Russell asks for prayers for her daughter, Jeana, of Chesbrough.  Jeana is in North Oaks and is facing additional surgery.

Please pray for David’s brother, Jimmy, who will be having a liver ablation at Ochsner, New Orleans Friday.

Bro. Joey and Karen have a new granddaughter, Quinn.  Thank God for this new life.

Steve Gully’s dad passed away yesterday.  Please pray for the Gully family.

 

Pray for all the people in our area and in other areas that have high water.  May each person be safe.  I’m going to turn the computer off for a while because of the weather.

I tried for hours early this morning to post today, but the weather kept my satellite from working.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you

Please pray for Andy, Betty Taylor and for their son Tommy Mapes.  They all seem to have health issues not.  I know they will appreciate your prayers.

Pray for the  late Rev. Laurence Randall’s wife, Inez, as she is hospitalized with possible heart issues.  Pray for her family as they care for her.

Ira Cleveland is home and sends his appreciation for all who prayed for him in recent days.

Susan Rimes had another nerve blocked yesterday.  Let’s pray this will be effective.

Gerald Miller of Mt. Hermon, brother-in-law of the late Mr. James Miller, continues to be at home at Mt. Hermon recovering from a stroke.

Pray for Sonny McLain of New Zion.  He fell from a deer stand and broke a foot.  The healing process has been complicated.

Koltyn Gafford has been slowly improving in many ways since his accident.  Yesterday, a doctor determined that his right eye, that had been the weaker one, is now the stronger eye.  Thank God for those who continue to work with him on a regular basis, especially his mother.  Thank God for all the “small steps” Koltyn has made.

The bad weather is headed this way again.  Pray for those in its path today.

There are always a number of people undergoing tests of various natures.  I’ll not list names, be please be aware of some of these people and offer to help in whatever way you can.  Helping people in their time of need is a great and meaningful ministry.

Johnny Belgard has been hospitalized for three months.  He has fluid in both lungs now.  Please pray for Johnny, Susan, and their family.

Mrs. Yvonne Vining’s last test shows her to be cancer-free.  Please continue to pray for her and Mr. John.

Please continue to pray for Betty Taylor sister, Theresa.  While doing so, include Betty in your prayers.  Her knee pain now includes her hip and a major nerve.  Betty’s son, Tommy Mapes, will be dealing with dental and vision problems this week and staying with Betty this week.  Pray as his issues are corrected.

Frances Gay, requests prayer for Paul Brown’s mother.  She lives in lower Livingston Parish.

David is doing well following that major procedure Thursday.  Thank-you to all are are asking about him and praying for him.

Pray for Mrs. Rebecca Williams as she has the same procedure on Tuesday of next week and Gloria Gill as she has the procedure in April at Lacombe.

Jason and two other Camp Ridgecrest former staffers spent the weekend with Bobby Black in Greenville, S.C.  They were able to do so things to help Bobby at home while he is hospitalized, including getting him hospice services.

My former classmate passed away.

Missions Opportunity

You are invited to FBC, Greensburg to learn about the Annie Armstrong Week of Prayer for North American missions.  The theme this year is “Here I Am/Send ME”.  We will meet at 10 and end with a potluck lunch.  Everyone is invited to come.

  •      Did you realize 33% of the people in the South are unchurched?
  •      Did you realize 73% of the people in Canada are unchurched?
  •      Did you realize 90% of the people in western states are unchurched?

Even if you cannot attend the meeting this morning, I hope you will want to support the efforts to change the statistics I just listed.  You can do this at any Southern Baptist church.  One hundred percent on the money given will be used  for that purpose.

A verse we all need to be reminded of periodically…

Do not be quick with your mouth,

do not be hasty in your heart

to utter anything before God.

God is in heaven and you are on earth,

First, I want to mention three families I saw at the LA Heart Hospital in Lacombe.

  1. Robert Landry, from Amite, was leaving, but had been a patient due to A-fib.
  2. Jimmy Williams was  there for a couple of days.  I had a good visit with Linda.
  3. Gloria Gill was there for an outpatient test.  She will have a heart ablation next month.

Rebecca Williams, mother of Matt Williams, a former resident of Kentwood, will be having a heart ablation next week in MS.  Keep her in your prayers.

Carolyn Kirkfield, the wife of the late Rev. Charles Kirkfield, is very sick.  Please pray for her and her family.  Her children are Teri and Chad.

Bobby Black, a good friend of Jason’s from summer staff at Camp Ridgecrest in North Carolina, will soon be healed of cancer in heaven.  Bobby is from South Carolina and was a part of Jason’s wedding.  He is a young man, but has touched many lives.

Larry Watts is having more issues.  There is a possibility they are caused by a reoccurrence of cancer.  He is at North Oaks.
