“With men this is impossible,

but with God all things are possible.”

~Matthew 19:26~

Cali Austin is at M. D. Anderson.  According to Pam Austin, a spot has been detected behind one ear.  Pray for the family as additional tests are done to determine what this area is and if/how it needs to be treated.

Pray for Dan Turner as he prepares to throw a baseball to begin a game in Jackson Thursday night.  What an improvement since his motorcycle accident.  Join Dan and his family in thanking God for this improvement.  Pray Dan will use his recovery to inspire others and to tell of God’s love and care.

I haven’t got an update on Brock Muse, but we can pray for Brock and his family as they face another day of recovery/treatment.

I haven’t mentioned his name lately, but continue to pray for Bock Sims and his family.

Mission Projects

  • Thanks to those who contributed hats, caps, or money for Zach’s Lidz for Kidz.  Baskets are available at FBC, Kentwood for those who would like to be an encouragement to children receiving treatment that causes their precious little heads to lose their hair.  This project will be completed on Wednesday, May 15th.  As Zach says, “Pay it forward”.
  • Thanks to those who have contributed money, fabric (100% cotton or flannel), or sewing notions for Lara’s Gowns for Smiles.  Baskets are available at FBC,Kentwood for drop off.  You can give you financial donations to me or the church office.  This project will continue indefinitely.
  • As you sort through your clothing to mark the end of winter, please put aside hats, sweaters, gloves, winter shoes, and coats.  We will collect these items at FBC, Kentwood after May 15th for distribution early next fall.
  • Thank-you for sharing God’s love by helping with these and other projects.  If you are not from this church, you are still welcome to participate.  The point is now who or what church participates, it is that people are benefitted by our efforts.

Continue to pray for the many folks who have been listed lately and for the numerous bereaved families in our area.

If you have any names to add, please feel free to share them with me.  The more praying, the better!

“So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?

No one can serve two masters.

Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.

You cannot serve both God and money.”

~Luke 16:11-13 CEV~

Susan of Lara’s Gowns for Smiles shared this about her granddaughter who is sick.

UPDATE on LARA GRACE: Please Pray for Lara Grace, and her parents!!
From Nikki: News from Ortho…It seems that her bone is not healing as well as it should because of the chemo. Apparently after the chemo          is finished, and her body recovers, he will go back in AGAIN to remove her hardware. ANOTHER body cast will most likely be needed 😦 We will be back to square one with physical therapy and recovery.)

Susan completed hundreds of gowns for children such as Lara.  We can support Susan and Lara with our prayers.  We can also support her ministry, Lara’s Gowns for Smiles, with fabric or with money for fabric to make hospital gowns for children.  If you get your donations to me or to FBC, Kentwood, I will personally hand deliver to Susan.  In the meantime, pray for Lara and her family.

Zach Morgan will be closing out his campaign, Zach’s Lidz for Kidz, in about a month.  If you want to contribute hats for sick boys and girls or funds to make purchases, please get them to me or to FBC, Kentwood.  I will also make this delivery.

Becky R. Gabriel is a little better.  Continue to pray for her.  Your prayers are greatly appreciated.

Shelton Day is recovering nicely from him bypass surgery, even if it is not quickly enough.  Pray that he gets the healing time he need before trying to get back to his regular routine.

Please continue to pray for the people in Boston and in West, Texas.

Bro. Byrum Humphrey of Roseland Baptist Church is in North Oaks with an infection in his face.  Pray he can quickly recover and return to his family and church responsibilities.

Friday Evening

This has been a regular week and a most unusual week at the same time.  It’s regular in that sin was apparent and unusual in that it showed its ugly head in the form of bombers and letters containing poison.  It’s regular in that well trained men and women, both paid and volunteers, did what they do best.  They did what they could to protect others.  Sadly, a fertilizer plant caught fire and later exploded.  The loss of life and many injuries have greatly saddened us this week.  The events are not those that happen every day.  We all wish they never did happen.

Since I started  typing this, the second bomber has been found.  I know many people will sleep better tonight in the Boston area.

This afternoon, Baptist Press published an article that is based on something that happened in that area last night.  I heard the third floor resident and owner of the home as he was interviewed today.  The first floor residents I heard about, a church planter and his wife (and dog), lived though a terrible time that caused them to fear for their lives.  The good news is that they did not fear for their future.  They have secured their future in heaven!  Read for yourself – http://www.bpnews.net/BPnews.asp?ID=40111

I think the message is “hope”.  With Jesus, we have hope, even in the face of these difficult situations.  If you don’t have that “hope”, please talk with a minister or Christian friend who can guide you.  You’ll never be disappointed!
