Please continue to pray for all the grieving families in our community. Many of them have endured extra hardships because of Covid-19.
Janie Wise is a very special friend who is also the Louisiana WMU director. She and other family members were called to travel to New Mexico because her mother is very ill. Please pray for each family member to feel God’s presence with them during this time.
Let’s continue to pray for those west of us trying to put their lives, homes, communities, and families back together following Hurricane Laura. Now, we can add people east of us who are dealing with all the misery and troubles left behind by Hurricane Sally. I’m not sure why New Orleans seemed to be the targeted area for both of these storms, but they went another way when they got close to shore. I do know we have a responsibility to help the people in need. Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief is busy.
Trinity is hub for disaster relief, ministry, sharing the Gospel
If you cannot go and physically help, give money or items to those who are going. Another way you can minister to the needs is to donate directly to Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief. This puts funds in the right hands immediately. 100% of the donations will be used for disaster relief!

Please continue to pray for those being impacted by Hurricane Sally and those still dealing with a new way of life/living since Hurricane Laura. As thankful as we are that these storms did not hit our area, we still have to realize they hit another area. Consider what you can do to help these people in a time of need.
Two obituaries – I taught all four of the Williams children at school and both of the Lea girls piano lessons. There have been many deaths lately.

Thanks!Blessings!
My list shows all purchases for this year have been made. We have one order, for additional calculators, that will be here any day.
A group of ladies has faithfully made totes for years that we place inside each box. They are colorful and just the right size for the “shoeboxes”. Yesterday, we were blessed with 361 totes for our boxes this year. Thank you, ladies!
My sister helped us tremendously this year through making wonderful items and purchasing other items.
Two of my faithful young friends have helped me for years. They helped me at the beginning of the year. When they grow up, I fully expect they will still be involved in OCC.
A church family has ordered a number of items for us this year. They also shopped locally to complete our supply of coloring books and add to the supple of Mardi Gras beads.
We are officially focusing on collecting money for postage. A week ago, we paid to ship over 25% of our boxes. Yesterday, I received checks from two ladies and a message about a donation from a third lady. God is blessing us through these friends!
Several classes have faithfully purchased monthly. I’ve learned to enjoy their Amazon shopping. Thanks to a friend who helped by doing the shopping for some of the classes.
During 2020, we are blessed to be ahead of where we usually are at this point! I greatly appreciate all the help and know the boys and girls will be so blessed when they open their boxes.
Speaking of boxes. We have 150 of them painted and ready to go. Fifty more are being worked on. Special thanks to the late Martha Griffith who painted hundreds of boxes last year. We are using about 100 of “her boxes” this year.
David has been able to help me much more this year than the last few years. We worked alone except for the first couple of months of the year due to the virus. We were able to accomplish more than usual by working a few hours at a time.
Janice Hornsby, the church secretary, has been an asset too. She kept track of what was turned in and physically carried a number of boxes down from the office so they would be ready for us.
Thanks to FBC! Thanks to everyone!
God has greatly blessed the “shoebox” process this year!
You are helping to change the world through children and the shoeboxes!
The year, 2020, has been a good “shoebox” year! Coming soon – packing in October and serving as a collection site in November.
We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Virgie Morgan is better is better and was able to return to her home yesterday. Please continue to keep her and her family in your prayers.
While our state is recovering from Hurricane Laura, we face the possibility of being touched by Hurricane Sally. Get prepared, just in case Sally chooses to visit our area. Pray for those who will have Sally as an uninvited guest this week.
Bro. Stan Statham did some work onold/unused lately generatorsdonated by FBC, Kentwood members. Four of them are already in operation in SE Louisiana. If you have one to donate, please contact FBC at 229-8111. Bro. Stan has also asked for donations of old window air conditioning units.
Due to the forecast of Hurricane Sally hitting our area, those serving in Baptist Disaster Relief in southwest LA were brought home to make preparations here. They will be able to go back to SW LA if the storm hits elsewhere and does little damage here.
Please pray for those who have been evacuated from their homes south of us. Pray for safe travels and finding a suitable place to stay until they can return home.
Pray for people who live along the coast where the storm surge will hit. May they be able to find lodging in on higher ground.
Pray for those who are called into the path of the storm such as police, rescue workers, etc. Pray for their safety as they help others who need help.

Georgie Barnette Week of Prayer for Louisiana Missions – Day 2
We are preparing shoeboxes for the first of three packings. Thanks to several of you who have stepped up to make sure we have what we need to pack. Last night, I participated in an online workshop that was wonderful. I have been encouraged and learned some Covid – 19 adaptations that will be helpful this year. I heard a quote that I will apply, “Trust and Adjust”. That certainly fits 2020.
We are now collecting funds to pay for shipping of the shoeboxes. I ask that you pray for us as me move from the collecting phase to the packing. Also, PRAY FOR EACH SHOEBOX AND THE CHILD/FAMILY WHO WILL BE BLESSED BY EACH BOX.
Please continue to pray for all the families who have been touched with sickness and/or death lately. Check your church’s prayer list for the current needs in your community.
Fall Food Round-Up for the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home
You have one week to get your donations to FBC, Kentwood so your items will make the scheduled pick-up.
Louisiana was hit very hard by Hurricane Laura. The Baptist Disaster Relief teams have been working hard. Those who cannot actually go are encouraged to pray and to provide items that are needed.
Different churches are helping in various ways. Yesterday, Taylor Creek Baptist Church provided a free lunch as a community outreach. Any money they received will be used as part of their disaster relief efforts. What a great service and a great opportunity!
Several people I know have already served a week in tree removal, counseling, chain-saw work, etc. They all report massive needs and wonderful blessings. Find an opportunity to help or create your own method. The key is to help meet physical. emotioal, and spiritual needs in a timely manner.
Today, choose to worship in person or online. I’m so thankful for the choices available to us. All the churches that I know of offer one or both of these options.
Today, I hope you will be an encourager to others. Choose your own methods – cooking, visiting. phone calls. cards. whatever best fits you and the need.
“These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all of our troubles seem like nothing.”
~2 Corinthians 4:17 (CEV)~
Jason Dean shared his good news: He is no longer connected to the oxygen tank he has used lately. Thank God for this step Jason was able to make.
Reminder: The memorial service for Martha Griffith will be this morning at FBC, Kentwood. Visitation will begin at 11:00 with the service at 11:30.
Blake Welton Brumfield
January 07, 1994 – September 09, 2020
Blake Welton Brumfield passed away on September 9, 2020. He is survived by his parents Greg and Karen Brumfield; his grandmother Evelyn Magee; his sisters Lindsey Jo Vasquez (Robert), Chelsea Brumfield Baugh, and Ashley Knapp (Kyle); and his beloved niece and nephews Kelton Baugh, Leeke Vasquez, Ava Lynn Baugh, Jack Knapp, and James Hayes Knapp. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jackie and Welton Brumfield, John Boehm, and Leeke Magee. Blake was born on January 7, 1994 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He later moved to Louisiana with his family and attended Mandeville High School, his mother’s alma mater. Blake loved the outdoors and spent his time in the rivers and woods of southeast Louisiana. After spending time working with his siblings in the hospitality business, Blake began working in the marine industry. He fell in love with being on the water, watching the sun rise on the riverbanks and listening to the quiet rush of the current in the evening time. Although the work was hard, Blake found a special peace on the river. Blake was always generous and kind. He shared his helping hands and warm heart with all who knew him, but most especially with his family. He is gone too soon, and the world is a little smaller without him. Blake’s gentle spirit will be deeply missed. “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1 Blake’s Memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Amite on Tuesday, September 15th visitation at 1PM, service at 2PM with interment to follow at Amite Memorial Gardens. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements. For an online guestbook, visit http://www.mckneelys.com.
You have one more week to contribute to the “Fall Food Round-Up” for the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home. Contact the church to learn of the “most needed” items this year. You can leave your donations at the church this week during office hours or on Sunday.
Disaster relief items can still be sent with our teams. We will have teams leaving from our area to help in other areas of our state. Contact Bro. Stan’s office in Franklinton to learn of the current needs. The church can provide the phone number if you need it. Reading articles in the Louisiana Baptist Message will help you to learn what has already been done and what you can help to do. https://baptistmessage.com/
Tomorrow, we begin the annual Week of Prayer for Baptist mission work in Louisiana. The 2020 theme is “The Right Time”. If you attend services in person, you will receive a brochure that will guide you this week. If you are an online worshipper, I will provide you with information to read and pray about. Gifts can be given, at you convenience, in the coming weeks.
Thanks to all who have contributed to the items that will be packed next month. You are greatly appreciated! The “Shoeboxes” will be delivered to countries all around the world because of you! Special thanks to the individuals and classes who have gone “Above and Beyond” this year!
The time to consider funds for shipping “Shoeboxes” for Operation Christmas Child is fast approaching. Remember, it costs $9.00 per box for shipping and for providing 12 weeks of “Sunday School” type lessons for the older children so they will understand who Jesus is and why they need to trust Him. My reminder to you is that “Each box has been shown to impact an average of seven people for Jesus”. How much is that really worth? Please consider this when you give.
I’m thankful for all your support for Operation Christmas Child this year !
