John F. Needham, a resident of Kentwood, LA, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. He was born August 17, 1937 in Kentwood, LA and was 83 years of age. He is survived by his wife Judy Foster Needham; 4 children, Frances Thornton(Kentwood,LA), Mark Needham(Kentwood, LA), Wayne and Teresa Needham(Kingwood, TX) and Wanda Newman(Kernersville, NC); grandchildren, Joseph Thornton and wife Christy, Lucas Thornton and wife Allison, Clayton Thornton and wife Jessica, Joshua Thorton and wife Danyelle, J.B. Needham and wife Crystal, Tabitha Whittington, Trenton Needham, Seth Needham, Cassie Needham, Joe Newman, Jr. and wife, Angie and Tiffany Hutchins and husband Adam; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Needham Birch. Preceded in death by his parents, Jule Pierce and Mae Felps Needham; sisters, Mary Needham Roberts, Helen Needham Caston, Daisy Lee Needham and Lula Needham Will. Violet Mahaffey Hunt, a resident of Kentwood, LA, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, LA. She was born March 27, 1942 in Franklinton, LA and was 78 years of age. She is survived by her 3 children, Rose Hunt Marez and husband Daniel, Mark Hunt and wife Lorrie and Moses Hunt and fiancé Gwen; 11 grandchildren, Joseph, Deanna, Nina, Nathan, Austin, Samantha, Adam, Tommy, Christopher, Nick and Timothy; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Margie Mahaffey Day and Gladys Mahaffey Foster; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Hunt; parents, James Daniel Mahaffey and Gracie Mahaffey; sister, Mary Belle Napier; 3 brothers, Joseph Mahaffey, Charles Mahaffey and Roy Mahaffey. The shingles vaccine is now available for those who are 70 and above. If you qualify, the vaccinations can be given at some of the local pharmacies and clinics. You must get an appointment in order to get the vaccination.
