Thursday

“Do not merely listen to the word,

and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

~James 1:22 (NIV)~

Today is the National Day of Prayer. You can meet others at the Kentwood City Hall for a season of prayer at noon today.

Rev. David Luce is going to Ochsner in New Orleans today for all the testing and prep work leading up to a valve replacement next week. Please pray all goes well today.

Mrs. Donna (Robert) Bennett made it home from the hospital. She was still “wobby” due to weakness. Today is her mother’s funeral. Please say special prayers for her and her family.

Donna is being discharged from hospital today sometime and anxious to get home. She is doing much better and will continue chemo and radiation on Monday, if everything goes right. They don’t want too long a gap in treatment which could lead to a backslide, and we don’t want to lose ground.

Funeral for her Mom is Friday at Centuries Funeral Home 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport. Visitation will be 11:30 with Service following at 12:30.

Operation Christmas Child

David and I had a couple hours in town before prayer meeting, so we spent it doing work for OCC. We got a lot accomplished. David found smiley faced erasers, colorful pencil sharpeners, and decorative pencils left in the drop-off box in the fellowship hall. We will put them to good us as we pack the extra pencil bags at our workday on the 22nd so they can be placed in boxes that others packed, but which are a little short on school supplies. If you are available, we would love to have you help pack those pencil bags.

Wednesday

This is what the LORD says:

“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,

who draws strength from mere flesh and

whose heart turns away from the LORD.

~Jeremiah 17:5~

I want to start with some fantastic news. God has answered our prayers for Deputy Charles Warren. He will be coming home midday today! Thank you for all your prayers as he spent five months in the hospital fighting Covid-19. Please continue to pray for him as he continues to improve at home.

The next news concerns Keith Womack who has been fighting cancer. He has now been cleared of cancer and is ready to go on with life. Thank God for the good report and ask for His continuing watch-care over Keith and his family.

Robin Alford, daughter of Walton and Peggy, has been fighting a long battle as she tried to heal from and ankle accident in the snow over a year ago. She is finally wearing a “shoe” and applying pressure to her foot. The last surgery seemed to have helped her progress.

Donna Bennett, the wife of my classmate, Robert Bennett, is making some progress, but continues to need out prayers. Pray she can regain her weight and strength so she can wage battle with cancer. Pray for the family as plans are being made for Donna’s mother’s celebration of life.

Tomorrow, May 6th, is the National Day of Prayer.

Today’s Prayer Focus – Drivers

We are all on the highway with other drivers. Today, let’s focus our prayers on the drivers. Some are new at driving. Some have been driving for 75 years. Some don’t feel well, but have things to do. Some are in a hurry. Some are tired and/or sleepy. Some drive cars that are not properly functioning. These situations make us wonder how we ever get home safely. Thank God for his watch-care over us as we travel. Pray for all drivers to be attentive and to maintain their vehicles properly.

Please pray for Rev. David Luce who served in the Amite area and has now retired to the McComb are. He has been admitted to the hospital with breathing issues and is having some fluid removed.

Robert Bennett was my classmate in Amite. His wife, Donna Bennett, has begun cancer treatment. After a week she lost 10-12 pounds and was admitted to the hospital over the weekend for nourishment. Yesterday, her mother passed away. They request prayers.

Today’s Prayer Focus – College Students

Today, let’s pray for our college students who are completing another semester of school. Pray for them to have a clear focus on “what they want to be when they grow up”.

The flowers have been beautiful in our area. Take time to enjoy the beauty God provides for us. Realize that despite all our work, He is the one who sends the beautiful results.

LOTS OF GOOD NEWS AND GREAT JOY IN 2020

https://wordpress.com/post/theprayerlink.com/30063

Yesterday was a day of preparation for packing our shoeboxes.

-Price tags were removed from fire trucks.

-Lots of plastic storages bags were regrouped according to size. Think of baggies, but in multiple sizes.

-Packages of erasers, markers, flashlights, calculators, etc. were opened and prepared for shoeboxes.

-What a blessing it is to know the over nine million “shoeboxes” were packed and that FBC, Kentwood had a part in packing, collecting, and shipping them!

Oh, what fun it is to work on items and think of the boys and girls who will be blessed with a “shoebox”. Even better than that, boys and girls will have an opportunity to learn about Jesus!
