On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God’s throne.”

Please remember to pray for Sherry Grice as she has surgery today and Don Schneeweiss as he has surgery tomorrow. Thanks!

Please continue to pray for those who have Covid-19.

Operation Christmas Child – Yesterday’s plan was for the shoebox cartons to be picked up in Hammond and brought to the church. With some hard working volunteers though, the shoeboxes from our church were packed into cartons. That a big check-off on our list.

Filler Items – Speaking of shoeboxes, we always seem to have some items that don’t make it into the boxes before they are filled. This surely happens to others too. You can pack them up and send them as fillers to be used at our processing site in Dallas. Please pack them in a box that looks nothing like a shoebox. They can be added to other boxes as needed. There is no postage charge for sending them. When our church was first a drop-off site, we didn’t receive any filler items. Since then, we have sent and received filler from some area churches. Those who work at the processing sites are thrilled to have quality items to add as needed.

FBC, Kentwood will again serve as a drop-off location November 16 – November 23. What an honor it is have the opportunity to help all these boxes sent on to Dallas. The times for drop-off at FBC, Kentwood are listed on the Samaritan’s Purse site. I’ll give them here too, so would have a choice of writing them down or looking them up.

This 100 boxes you see here were the first ones that were paced yesterday. All these pictures were made yesterday, but think of this times six! We packed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I cannot thank the volunteers this week enough. They worked hard and had sweet spirits. Their focus was on the children who will receive the boxes. (All those who worked yesterday or on the other two days are not pictured.)

Please pray for the McClendon family of Amite. I was informed that one passed away due to covid this week. Another sibling is hospitalized at this time.

Mrs. Agnes McClendon was instrumental in the education of many AHS students. She was a good teacher and had the ability to make all her students feel special. I was ahead of her children in school, but did have the opportunity to teach one of the boys.

Operation Christmas Child has been busy. Thursday, we packed for the younger children, ages 2-4. Friday, we packed for the middle group, ages 5-9. This afternoon, we will pack 150 boxes for the older boys and girls, ages 10-14. It takes a church to pack so many boxes to share with boys and girls. Our boxes usually go to Central America. In addition to the toys, school supplies, and hygiene items, the children will have an opportunity to learn about Jesus! Thanks to everyone who supported this wonderful missions project!

Our church family has lost so many members in the last few months. I don’t remember so many deaths as we have had this year. Please pray for the church and for the grieving families.

Donnis Elton Honeycutt died on Monday, October 12th at St. Tammany Hospital. Born in 1944 in Alexandria, LA, Donnis grew up in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of La Grange High School and Louisiana State University. He later attended San Francisco State University and the University of New Orleans where he earned his master’s degree in theatre. Upon his retirement, he moved to Kentwood where he focused his creative energies on gardening, restoring his nineteenth-century home, and bringing the theatre to Kentwood First Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donnis Sr. (Bunk) and Marjorie Nalley Honeycutt, and brother Jerry Wayne.
