Mary Lynn Marquette Cressionnie passed away on April 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm (Mack) Joseph Cressionnie Jr., father, Dennis Charles Marquette Sr. and sister, Cheryl McNally. She is survived by her 102-year-old mother, Mary Chatelain Marquette; three children: Chris Cressionnie (Lisa), Lori Cressionnie Kirkland (Rickey) and Larry Cressionnie (Carrie); grandchildren: Kyle Cressionnie (Rhea), Malcolm Cressionnie, Erica Reeves, and Eddie Schlumbrecht; great grandchildren: Trevor Pierce, Lucy Cressionnie, Colt Cressionnie, Cadence Reeves, Noah Schlumbrecht and Ava Pierce; siblings: Suzanne Snell, Dennis Marquette Jr. and Vicki Klein and a host of nieces and nephews. Mary Lynn graduated from Dominican High School and later from LSUNO with a degree in Social Work. She worked for the State of Louisiana in the Office of Family Services for 25 years as a social worker. She was exceptional at quilting, needlework and sewing. Mary Lynn enjoyed her lunches on Thursday with the “Lunch Bunch”. Twelve Southern Baptist volunteer teams that have traveled from the United States to Eastern Europe to serve Ukrainian refugees. To date, Southern Baptists have donated more than $8 million to Send Relief and the International Mission Board (IMB) to go toward Ukrainian relief efforts.
“Romanian volunteers are at the station around the clock. Train tickets are free for Ukrainians. One volunteer, Klara, said at the beginning of the crisis, she worked 20-hour shifts as the fire station’s red buses ferried weary Ukrainian refugees from the border of Romania and Ukraine. Most of the volunteers went to the border, Klara said. Not many thought to come and assist Ukrainians who were boarding trains to take them to cities across Europe.”

A resident of Kentwood passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022 in Hammond, La. surrounded by her loved ones. She was born November 12, 1939 in Tylertown, Ms and was 82 years old. She is survived by her son Samuel Eugene Broyles of Kentwood, LA; grandchildren Samantha Broyles Occhipinti and her husband Brad of Kentwood, LA and Robert Eugene Broyles and his wife Manlika Thepyot Broyles of San Ramon, CA.; and one great grandson Ace Henry Occhipinti of Kentwood, LA.; brother James Phillip Roberts and his wife Jean of Mount Hermon, LA; and sister Susan Roberts Travis and her husband Gilbert of Fort Smith, AR. She graduated in 1994 from Loranger High School. She was in 4H, played basketball, band, color guard and a Wolfette. From 1994-1995 she was the St. Helena Parish Forest Festival Queen of the Pines. In 1995 she was Louisiana Fairs and Festivals Miss Congeniality Former Teen Miss Amite Oyster Queen, Kentwood Dairy Festival Princess, Tangipahoa Parish Fair 1st Runner-up. She worked as a Fingerprint Technician, Day Care worker, and for the last 10 years as a dispatcher at Tangipahoa Parish 911. FBC, Kentwood had a great day for the children yesterday. I loved seeing the wonderful pictures posted on Facebook by Rachel Buckley. Not only did she show many of the children, but she also showed many of the activities for the children. Thanks to Bro. Wendel Rhodus and the children’s committee for a great event.

EASTER – Jesus, not a rabbit, is the reason for this holiday. Be sure the children in your family know the importance to this day.
Mark Mitchum is married to Melanie Wilson who often visited this area with her family. Mark has been hospitalized due to diabetes issues and is now back at home. Pray for Mark to improve and for Melanie as she does her best to care for him. Mark and Melanie have a Christian deaf ministry in Texas.
Please continue to pray for my brother-in-law’s daughter, Melissa Eudy Parrino, as she cares for her husband Andrew who has been sick since the fall. He is now at home and Melissa, like Melanie (above), is responsible for much of his care at home. (I remember those days with David. I felt so inadequate at the time. ) Melissa works from home and has two school-age boys who have stepped up to help their parents. Pray for Andrew to improve and get back to being able to work and parent as he did before the sickness.
Avery Campbell has been diagnosed with spinal meningitis. This gives her doctors for a clearer plan of treatment. Avery is not contagious. Pray for Avery, and her parents, as she continues her treatment at North Oaks.
Mrs. Ruby Dillon is in room 4410 at North Oaks. Your prayers for her are greatly appreciated by her family and friends.
Please continue to pray for our son-in-law, Boyd, and others as they work to set up and “man” refugee relief stations for those fleeing from Ukraine and all the awful things happening there. Pray the Russians will cease the unspeakable things they are doing to the civilians there.
Pray the Easter Services will be meaningful to all those in attendance at all the area churches. May adults and children learn the importance on less focus on a rabbit and more focus on the resurrection and what it means for us.
I know I caused some of you to worry about the absence of TPL for the last week. David and I took a VACATION, our first pleasure trip in more than fifteen years. We’ve had a lot of family sickness, as many of you know. All of our trips in the last fifteen plus years have been family-related, but not this one! It was for us. We wondered if we could even make the trip, but the Lord provided! We were strong enough. We took a few naps. We spent time in Branson, MO., one of our favorite places. If you are surprised we wanted to try this trip, you should know our children were more SURPRISED! We’re glad to be home and thankful for our great and successful week.
Today is the day we recognize the death of Jesus on the cross. The most special day is Sunday, because that is when we celebrate the resurrection! There will be special services, programs, etc. at churches this weekend. I hope you will be in attendance for them.

Tommy Hood of Amite completed his treatment at M.D. Anderson. His 20 treatments were sometimes difficult, but he left Houston with no active tumors and will go back every three months for the next two years for check-ups. Thank God for this awesome improvement and good news about Tommy.
Avery Campbell, the young daughter of Rick and Krystal Slaven Campbell, is in North Oaks. She has been sick for a while, but the last few days have been very difficult. I’m happy to report that today’s news from her mom is better. The family appreciates your continued prayers.
Yesterday, about mid-afternoon, Mrs. Ruby Dillon was taken to North Oaks due to a suspected virus. She was given medication in the ER and given a room about 1:30 this morning. Pray for her to feel comfortable.

Morris Leon “M.L.” Robertson
November 11, 1943 – April 07, 2022
Morris Leon “M.L” Robertson passed away on Thursday afternoon April 7, 2022 at The Lodge at Tangi Pines Nursing Home after a brief illness at the age of 78. M.L. previously worked as a deck hand offshore and as a cook on several tugboats. He is survived by his brother, Bob Robertson (Janice); sister, Diane Robertson Lee; nieces, Donna Lee Jones and Rebecca Lee Loupe (Scott), nephew, Joseph Paul Lee (Candice), Jerry Wayne Robertson (Rhonda). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert David Robertson, Sr. and Beatrice LeNoir Cutrer Robertson; son, James Edward Robertson; and daughter, Betty Jo Robertson.
