Inflation has been a big issue in our country lately. For the third time in 30 years, the cost of shipping a “shoebox” has increased. I think we can all agree that is no obstacle in how our hearts feel about getting “shoeboxes” all across the world so children can learn about Jesus.

I’m thankful Brenlee Strickland was baptized yesterday and Logan Strickland is being scheduled for baptism soon. God continues to work at FBC, Kentwood.
I’m also thankful we continue to have the online services for those unable to attend for various reasons. Thanks to all who are a part of this ministry.

Graduates are being recognized this month in our area churches. Be sure to share an encouraging word with them.
Baby dedications often are scheduled for Mother’s Day. This is certainly going to be a busy month.
Operation Christmas Child
We have a workday scheduled for Saturday morning. Come out and help get items ready for packing. We work until noon. Please bring a snack to share and a friend to work with us.
Samaritan’s Purse made a decision to increase the delivery fees to $10/box this year. Let’s work hard to pack each box so it will be a blessing to a boy or girl somewhere around the world. May the “shoebox” be a vital step in helping the children learn about Jesus.
The Bank Class has made $100.00 available for purchases to the shoebox ministry. They might not like to shop themselves, but they support this mission project. Thank-you for your generosity. Hopefully, some of this money will be used this week for extra items. Stay tuned….

GLENDA HARRELL‘s continues to feel well following her pacemaker placement. Porch life was a good treatment yesterday. Keep her in your prayers.
I had two injections in my lower back yesterday. The pain management doctor gave me two days of rest instead of the usual one day. I will be enjoying some time admiring the flowers from the porch too.

We have many graduates in our area schools on various levels. Pray for each one as they progress to the next step in their lives.

I’m very thankful to report that Glenda Harrell‘s pacemaker procedure went well yesterday and that she is home and resting from “her big day”. Let’s join her in thanking God for watching over her Thursday.
Thank-you to the City Hall Sunday School Classwho donated several bags of the items we are collecting this month – soap, bandanas, bandaids, and tooth brushes. These items will be helpful in continuing work on the 400 hygiene kits we are packing.
This inspiring story lets us know we all can have a part. Each part is important. Each person is important.
Operation Christmas Child shoebox inside lid painting update: We now have 176 painted and ready for the next step. That’s 176 out of 400, so we still have a few more to paint. It is a labor of love! We have lots of love to share.
Thanks to those who helped us with shoebox projects on the 2nd and the 23rd. Each hand that helps is so important in the final outcome. During May, our work days will be on the 7th and the 21st. You are invited to be a part of OCC by coming and participating.
During April,our needs for shoeboxes are soap, bandaids, bandanas, and toothbrushes. We are getting to the end of the month. We still can use more of these four items.
Be an encourager today. You can be an encourager with your words and your actions (preparing food, picking up limbs, washing windows, raking leaves, replacing light bulbs, weeding a flower bed, giving someone a ride, etc.). Don’t ever think YOU are not capable of helping others.
Pray for others. You can pray on your schedule in words you choose. Fancy or formal wording is not necessary. God hears and understands. He’s pleased when we care enough about others to pray for them.

A resident of Kentwood, LA, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 at her home. She was born August 27, 1956 in St. Rose, LA and was 65 years of age. She survived by her five children, Josh Babb, Alysha Babb, Torey Miller, Warren Miller, III (Ashley), and Toby Miller; 14 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Brian, Scott, and David Zeringue. Operation Christmas Child “Shoeboxes”
Saturday, we did not have a big turnout for our workday, but it worked out fine because of a blood drive and a wedding shower. Three activities scheduled for a Saturday! That didn’t keep us from working and getting some tasks done.
Yesterday, we had a OCC volunteer. We both went to work with Kris, working on painting and decorating inside the top of shoeboxes. We accomplished a lot. If you have time available, let us know. One or both of us may be available to meet you and get a task or two accomplished.

The movie at church surely touched hearts! I don’t know all the details, but contact the church office if you are interested in a new program to help young people and young marriages as they impact lives.
One action at the end of the movie was adding to a list of prayers that have been answered. I know we can all tell of some of our prayers we feel God has answered, but do we acknowledge it by writing it down? Do we realize how often God has answered our prayers. I think we can do a better job of recognizing all the things God has done for us. Let’s give it a a try.
