Do you want to create quite a stir and lots of questions?  Purchase items for OCC in big quantities!  You will have the cashier and a number of customers asking questions.  The best part is being able to share what you are doing and why!  You can encourage others to do the same.

The school supplies are marked down in some stores.  It is the perfect time to purchase markers, crayons, glue sticks, pencil sharpeners, highlighters, etc.  Get them while the price is the lowest.  You can stretch your funds a long ways at this time of year,

This week’s opportunities:

  • Sunday School and Worship – Check the church ahead of time; Different churches begin at different times.
  • Sunday Evening Worship Services still exist in a number of churches.  Enjoy the message and the music.
  • Today, meet in my classroom at 3:30 to discuss the next ladies’ night.
  • Monday at 10 A.M. – associational WMU meeting at Spring Creek to learn about the flooding at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and pastor’s home.  We will also learn about their recovery efforts.
  • Wednesday – Mission organizations for children will meet in the L-wing at 6 P.M.
  • Thursday – Monthly “Third Thursday” gathering at the cabin.

Jennie made it safely home to her family.  We are still thanking God for our brief visit together.  It was almost a year since we last saw her.  That’s the shortest time ever!  Yes, we were greatly surprised and thrilled!  We are so appreciative of all the family and friends who were “in on the secret” and helped it to happen.  What a blessing!

Macy Gueldner

We celebrated WEEK 100 this week! Macy is on the 100th week of her 3rd phase of treatment. Tomorrow she begins week 101 with her very last doses of vincristine and dex. This is pretty “big time” for her. These are the meds (chemo and steroid) that give her bone and nerve pain. We are happy for her to be kicking these two to the curb! Now, she only has 19 more weeks left of methotrexate and mercaptopurine (6mp.)

She’s been feeling well, but those nasty mouth sores never really go away anymore. Although you wouldn’t know it unless she gives you a good look in her mouth (which is rare.) Please pray that these last doses of vinc/dex aren’t too hard on her this weekend. We’re all ready to enjoy a good holiday. Merry Christmas from Team Macy.

Johnny Belgard’s new liver was working well at bedtime last night.  I’ve been checking my phone for an update, but nothing yet.  I’ll post one when I get one.  I’m certainly thanking God Johnny was able to have the new liver and all seemed to be going well.

Shelton Day, one of our neighbors, is hospitalized because his potassium level is too high. Please add him to your prayer list.

Ora Lee Wilson told me her grandson, Brandon, has been getting some good reports.  Let’s thank God Brandon did not really have the problems the doctors suspected at first.

Harrell Sharkey and his family learned his cancer is only in one location and can be successfully removed with surgery, which will be in January.  Thank God for another good report.

It is wonderful to be able to share all good updates this morning!

Thankfulness: Day 25

Today, I’m thankful for music.  I started singing at my church by copying others.  Later, I participated in chorus, choir, band, and piano.  I admit I was never outstanding in any of these, but I learned to appreciate music, understand reading music, and developed a love for music of various types. The original, and still my favorite, is church music like I learned as a child.  God is still working through lots of people who continue to write and perform songs that carry a message that touches my heart and life.  I’m so thankful for music and all it has taught me about God.  Sometimes, as I teach my Sunday School class, I pause and ask what hymns they can relate to those verses.  We all usually come up with the same songs!  They are the ones you would think of too!

Throughout this wonderful holiday, take time to make a mental, or paper, list of your own thankfulness.  You will be blessed by taking the time to do so.

East Fork Baptist Church had a great revival last week.

New Zion Baptist Church is beginning revival this morning.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pine Grove, was preparing for a back-to-school bash when I passed yesterday.

Judson Baptist Church in Walker hosted a state WMU day yesterday.  The ladies were very surprised and blessed by the number of men there to help serve and make our day flow nicely.  Thanks to the state leaders, led by Janie Wise, in planning and carrying out a wonderful training session.  The missionary speaker certainly was one of the highlights of the day.  I wish I could hear him again today.  (I got to speak with Mrs. McCon, formerly of Line Creek Baptist Church and eat lunch with ladies from Bethel, Amite, Minden, Old Zion Hill, and Judson Baptist.)

I get to teach Sunday School at 9:15 at FBC, Kentwood.  I am so blessed.
