Doug Toney

Monday, May 11, 2015                                                                                                                                    2:45 pm
We have had a very long day.
They took Doug to surgery at 8:00, but did not begin until after 10:00. The surgeon came out and said his part was going well, but he had to stop to enable the placement of a central line. His BP was too low. Then surgeon came later to tell us surgery was completed. They did not leave him on the vent this time. He is back in the ICU and vitals are good. Praying for healing. Thank you for the texts of concern.

Jadon’s Journey

Jadon saw the orthopedic surgeon today. It was a great visit with awesome news. He said that since he is doing so well with his foot that we need to just leave it alone right now. We will keep his same brace and we are to call him if his foot starts hurting again and he said he would see us that day. He didn’t have any answers as to what he thought was causing the pain but it has gone away for now and he is doing really well. Praying it continues to improve and it doesn’t start hurting again!!

I’ll be on my way to Baton Rouge after Cate’s soccer practice. I’m switching places with Jeremy tonight, and I’m very happy about it!

Macy is doing fine. All I know about the bacteria is that it’s a bacteria that is usually found in the intestines. I don’t think they’ve identified a specific antibiotic to use, so she’s still on a broad spectrum. They’re in no hurry to release her, so we’ll be a few more days, at least.

Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers. We appreciate everyone’s concern, and it helps to know that we’re surrounded by so much love

Two special monthly events I attended this week:

  • Young at Heart at New Zion was especially meaningful to us as two ladies who are missionary moms attended with one of them speaking.  We formed a special bond in that short time together.
  • We were also blessed by the gathering at the cabin last night.  The group of people and each word spoken/sung seemed to be “just what we needed”.  Two special observations: Our group last night included seven retired teachers.  We heard “Happy Birthday” on the harmonica, a first for most of us!

Next week – “Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party

  • Tuesday at 11:00 A.M
  • The Cafe in Kentwood
  • Honors ladies of FBC who have March birthdays

The Hope Center is doing well.

  •  Thank-you for your donations of money and items.
  • If you wish to set up a time to volunteer, please let me know.

Operation Christmas Child

  • Check the bulletin board and table across from the kitchen in the fellowship hall of FBC if you wish to give items for the shoeboxes.  All items will be stored until the fall when we will pack the shoeboxes.
  • Individuals, classes, and groups are encouraged to get involved early this year.

Frozen Food Sunday

This is the week we send frozen food to two families.  Bring the food to my Sunday School classroom before Sunday School.  It needs to be about 2 cups of food frozen in a quart size bag.  One family needs one course foods such as beans and rice, gumbo, soup, chicken and dumplings.  The other needs fresh or frozen foods that have not been processed or made with processed ingredients – your canned or frozen fruits and vegetables and/or fresh fruits and vegetables.  Delivery will be made to the families Sunday afternoon.

I’m looking forward to a great birthday party today to honor some of our “young” ladies who have been “working” for the Lord for many years.  If you are available, you are invited to join us at The Cafe at 11:00 A.M.

Macy Gueldner

It has been a very eventful morning. I’ll spare the details, but just know that Macy and I making it to Baton Rouge with our sanity is a pure miracle (I’m sure the sanity part is debatable!)
Macy has her VERY LAST chemo in her spine today. Although we still have a year and a half left of “regular chemo,” I’m glad to kick this one to the curb. This is the one that caused the neurotoxicity in her brain (the stroke-like episode,) so this is a huge weight off of our shoulders.
From now on, every 4 months she will have a lumbar puncture to check for cancer cells in her spinal fluid. I’ll take anesthesia every 4 months instead of every month. Yes indeed!
Her procedure isn’t until 1:00, and she’s been screaming (yes screaming) for food and drink since 7am. I’m by myself, and I need sweet little baby Jesus to HELP ME! PLEASE!!
Please also pray for a good wake up, because last time was nothing short of a disaster. She was very sick for hours after.
We’ll spend most of our holidays down on the bayou. No rest for the weary… Ahhhhhh! But, we anticipate a great holiday surrounded by family, friends, love, faith, and good food!

Who just ran across the parking lot, the size of two football fields, in the pouring rain, while carrying a 40 pound child knocked out from anesthesia? All while not permitted to a) run at all and b) not lift anything over 10 pounds? Yep, this girl! Is today over yet?!

  • “Tell Me the Story of Jesus” – http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/Tell_Me_the_Story_of_Jesus/

I heard Mr. Harlon Toney tell about this song about three weeks ago, so I asked him to repeat it last night.  He told how the first verse tells of Jesus’ birth.  The second verse tells of Jesus’ life.  Verse three is about the death, while the fourth verse tells of the resurrection and heaven.  I had never had this pointed out to me exactly this way.  If you take time to go back and read or sing each verse, you will get a complete story about Jesus.

Be careful on this rainy day!   Even a rainy day is about Jesus!  Keep Him a part of your whole day.
