Pray for Cora Morris of Kedron as she spends some time in rehab to recover from her hip surgery.

Josiah Huckaby (Written by his mother Friday)

Well…yesterday Josiah had his 1st surgery since being discharged from the hospital. Along with the removal of his stent from his previous surgery. It was planned to be an outpatient procedure and they would decide during recovery whether or not he needed to be admitted over night. HE ROCKED IT!!! He did great during surgery & only had to stay in recovery for about 2 hours (the norm is 1 hr but with his medical history they planned on several hours). The only pain meds he is getting is Tylenol & Motrin. He is such a little trooper & is always amazing us with how well he handles everything. We are praying for a speedy recovery, healing of his incision sites, and that we can keep his pain under control. He also is pretty confined to his back right now…and he would much rather be on his side, stomach, or rolling around. So hopefully we can keep him entertained without too much movement until he is feeling a little less tender from the surgery. To God be the glory!!! 💙

Thursday

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Amber Prine Ragan

I am writing this post as we are driving back from Houston. Amber had her post-operative visit today. We met with Dr. Lang and Dr. DeGroot. They were very pleased with Amber’s progress. She was able to get the staples and sutures removed today. Their recommendation for treatment is to start with proton radiation followed by 6-9 months of a chemotherapy treatment called PCV (combination of oral and infusion treatments.). The chemotherapy can be monitored by her neurologist in Baton Rouge. This will allow her to return back to work during her chemo treatments. She will do the radiation treatments at MD Anderson. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet with the radiologist today. We will return back to MDA on Monday to meet with her radiology team to get more information on when everything will get started (we are thinking within the next week or two). Dr. Lang seems to think she will do radiation for six weeks – 5 days a week, we will know more after we meet on Monday.
Once again, we are amazed how everything seems to work out. Amber received a call yesterday on our way to Houston about housing for patients receiving treatment at MDA. We will also meet with this organization on Monday. They have an apartment available that is very close to MD Anderson.
Of course, there are lots of other logistics that we have to work out before our six week stay in Houston. We are very thankful to have the family support that we do that will help us take the next steps.
Please continue to keep Amber in your prayers as she begins her treatment journey. Never doubt the power of prayer!

Amber had to bring her t-shirt today to show Dr. Lang. Needless to say, he loved it! Also  pictured is Dr. Lang’s assistant, Cheryl. She has been in communication with Amber since April. She has been an awesome support resource for all of us.  (The shirt said,”My neurosurgeon did my hair”.  – ala)

““Tell them to use their money to do good.

They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.

Today, I want to share information about five pastors I know.  I could tell you about many others, but these all have reason to celebrate this week.

  1. Rev. Chip Sloan has been a friend for 44 years.  He and his wife, Martha, are celebrating 47 years of marriage,  Roseland Baptist was his first church. He is still a pastor, just not so close to us any longer.
  2. Bro. Bob Simpson began his pastorate at Arcola Baptist Church 39 years ago.  He and his family “took root” in the area and are still here.
  3. Bro. Bobby Spinks just had surgery and is now home.  They attend church in Montpelier.  He and his wife have a calling to missions and are in the process of becoming international missionaries.
  4. Rev. Tommy Smith has moved from Greensburg to Franklinton where he will be the new pastor at Hillcrest.
  5. Rev. Brock Burch will be transitioning from youth minister at East Fork to being the pastor at Silver Springs Baptist Church.

Today, let’s pray for these and other pastors who have been called by God and serve Him.

The Georgia Barnett Offering is collected each fall to support missions in our state.  We begin the annual offering focus with a Week of Prayer each year.  The children of FBC, Kentwood will have a preview viewing of a portion of that video tonight at 6 P.M.  If you want to join us, feel free to attend.

Thanks of reading and praying today.  As you pray for those mentioned here, please add any others you feel led to pray for today.

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

~Isaiah 53:4-5~

Bobby Spinks‘ surgery went well yesterday.  Pray his recovery also goes well.

Ira Cleveland‘s back procedure went well yesterday.  He is at home and facing a long recovery period.  Pray he can be still long enough to heal.

Pray to our services tomorrow.  Plan to be a part of Sunday School and worship.  Invite someone to attend.

Thank God for watching over us during these very hot days.  May we be alert to those who have special needs during these days of extreme heat.  Be thankful He is sending rain this weekend.

I’m looking forward to sharing a little about Operation Christmas Child Sunday.  This is the Franklin Graham organization that distributes shoe boxes all around the world.  I’m so thrilled we have an opportunity to send gifts and giving children an opportunity to learn about Jesus to so many children.  If you need to learn more or have any questions about packing, shipping, places the boxes are send, etc., please ask me.  My personal goal is always to pack as many as I can.  I do this by collecting, packing, collecting, and packing.  You get the idea.

There are many with various needs due to sicknesses and deaths.  Address each one as God leads you to.  Also, spiritual needs abound.  Pray for these situations and act as God leads you to.
