Hatchel Family

Pray for the Hatchel family as they return to Europe today and tomorrow.  The will go though four airports and have numerous pieces of luggage and a dog.

I thank God they had a special assignment in the States for the past year and the opportunities we had to visit with them.  Now, I thank God for the opportunity for them to go “home” and do the work God has for them.

Mrs. Gloria Houeye

Mrs. Virgie Morgan said that her sister’s procedure at the Heart Hospital in Lacombe went well yesterday.  One sister has done well this week.  Now, let’s pray for the other sister’s health issue.

Praise the Lord. Gloria came through with flying colors. She did well and will be home tomorrow if all goes well the rest of today and tonight. She is in Louisiana Heart Hospital in Lacombe and will stay in ICU tonight. They will get her up tomorrow and take out all the tubes and if she does ok will come home. Thanks for all your thoughts and expecially your prayers.

Mike Lambert

Mike Lambert is hospitalized at St. Tammany and will have quadruple by-passes today.  Please pray for Mike, his family, and the medical staff caring for him.

Macy’s counts are very low, during a week where they should’ve doubled. I guess the increase in chemo finally caught up to her. So, her chemo this week is on hold. They’ll check again next week, and hopefully she can get back on track. She’s in good spirits; she just doesn’t have much immunity. So we’re hoping to stay germ free.As for me (Mary Catherine, Macy’s mom), my doctor ordered an MRI of my entire spine. He’s afraid I have ruptured a disc underneath my fusion. He said, “You are a tiny person, and Macy is not so tiny.” We’re both hoping that my lower back problem is just temporary. We’ll see…I have some good news: my mother in law (Martha) has only 4 radiation treatments before the end of her cancer journey 🙂

Wednesday

“But other seed fell on good ground

and yielded a crop that sprang up,

increased and produced:

some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

~Mark 4:8, NKJV~

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, encouraging you to pray for those seeking God’s Truth.

A few weeks ago, workers arrived in Village S, a Mandinka village of West Africa to share stories from God’s Word. The woman began gathering the wooden benches that are normally placed in a shaded area surrounded by cement bricks from an unfinished building. Curious children also gathered. They had barely chosen their seats when Erik*, one of the local Quranic teachers, motioned to the group to leave the sheltered area and join him under a large mango tree. With limited language abilities and the way Africans love to talk in circles, one worker struggled to understand what was happening. Several minutes into his monologue, a fellow worker leaned over and whispered, “He’s saying all good things; saying that he knows that what we are saying is the truth. He has been listening to the program we have on the radio and wants to know more about Jesus.”

Three Kurmanji Kurdish girls befriended a believer and said, “Can you tell me about Jesus and what you believe?” “Yes, I can!” What an opportunity! One had tears in her eyes as she listened. All of them noted that their belief is on a ‘point system’ and how beautiful faith is. Pray that they will want to read the Bible, that they will continue to ask questions, and that they will believe. The one with tears in her eyes said that her neighbor across-the-hall reads the New Testament. The believer had met that woman, too, but didn’t know that she was reading the Bible. God is at work.

Please pray for the seeds of Truth to take root in the hearts of these three Kurmanji Kurdish girls and produce abundant fruit.

Operation Christmas Child (“Shoeboxes”)

  • A new month means a new list of items to purchase.  Be sure to check the table across from the kitchen in the fellowship hall.  We will begin school supplies.  By selection bags from the table and purchasing the item listed on that bag, we can be sure to get the items needed and not overlap.
  • A group of ladies has been working since last Christmas to cut and sew 300 drawstring bags so we can fill 300 shoeboxes.  I’m happy to report they have already exceeded that number.
  • The focus in the coming days will be school supplies.
  • Remember, in addition to toys, toiletries, etc. each shoebox will be a means of sending “Jesus” to children around the world.
  • If you or your class would like to contribute money so someone can do the shopping for you, that will work just fine.  We also need to purchase more shoeboxes soon.
  • If you have items you have already purchased but not delivered to the table in the fellowship hall, you can bring your items to my classroom before Sunday School any Sunday.
