Thursday

A person’s wisdom yields patience;

it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

~Proverbs 19:11~

Josiah Huckaby, son of Job and KK

Josiah is 5 months old as of yesterday…he has been doing really well. They decided to put a nephrostomy tube in on Friday to drain one of his kidneys because of an obstruction from a kidney stone. His other kidney has an obstruction that will require reconstructive surgery in the future. The tube ended up coming out on Sunday & they were going to have to replace it on Monday. They decided to do another ultrasound to see how that kidney was looking…and PRAISE GOD it has improved enough that they won’t have to replace the nephrostomy tube for now. As of right now, the goal is to wean his oxygen down to home settings so that we can start discussing coming home. He has been staying awake all day (he can’t stand to miss any of the action) & sleeping all night…hope he keeps that up. 😉 He loves kicking his feet constantly while he’s awake & he’s starting to smile again! He also loves sitting up & watching people. He wiggles so much the nurses are always having to make sure he hasn’t wiggled to the bottom of the bed…they are constantly having to scoot him back up. Day 155 in the NICU has been an awesome day for Josiah! God is so good!!!

Mrs. Mimi Sneed was able to go home from a friend’s house where she was staying.  She did have to go for more medical tests yesterday, but the results were good.  Pray for her as she recovers from her accident.

Bettye Fussell is moving ahead to her next round of treatment which will begin Monday.  Pray for her to have strength and endurance for this phase of her “battle”.  She certainly has faced this journey with a positive attitude.  Keep her in your prayers.

Thank-you for praying for Jennie as she traveled.  She’ll be able to speak to many of you at church Sunday or the following Sunday.

Wednesday

If you declare with your mouth,

“Jesus is Lord,”

and believe in your heart

that God raised him from the dead,

you will be saved.

For it is with your heart

that you believe and are justified,

and it is with your mouth

that you profess your faith

and are saved.

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Please remember Debbie Miller and others who are in long-term care facilities.  Visits, small gifts, treats, or cards are always welcome.

Continue to remember Estelle and Bobby Raborn in your prayers.  He is a faithful care-giver.  That’s a difficult job.

Mrs. Ruby Dillon continues at physical therapy at North Oaks on Morrrison.  Her phone number is 230-1706.  Pray for Mr. Cete too.  Their 70th anniversary is three weeks away.

Speaking of anniversaries, and I usually don’t, Mr. Phillip and “Miss” Annie Bell Harrell will also be married a long time this year.  They will soon celebrate seventy-six years of marriage.

Operation Christmas Child – What a blessing to go into a store to purchase items for OCC shoeboxes and see a Sunday School member shopping for items for shoeboxes, to have messages about what someone has purchased, but will not be able to turn in until next week, or to walk into the church and find bags of items someone dropped off for us. This is a major project that takes many hands and many hearts.  I’m so thankful for all those who participate and do so over and over to help collect the many items we will need.

Monday

I will walk about in freedom,

for I have sought out your precepts.

What a great night at church!  Four youth were baptizes, three as a result of Go Tell camp they attended last week.  Bro. Wendell baptized them in the very same baptistry where he was baptized!  Isn’t that special?  The youth gave testimonies and share the highlights of their week.  It was a great night.  I’m so thankful they had this opportunity!

Pray for Mr. Kent Raiford of Arcola as he undergoes tests to determine why there has been a sudden change in his health.

Tish Fairburn received a good report in Houston.

Went back to Dr. Oki in Houston today. More good news. There is only one spot that has lymphoma. He was expecting more. Since it is only one, I am going to have 12 radiation treatments. He said that should kill it. Start treatments on July17th. I am living proof that God does do miracles. So thankful for that.

Pray for Josiah Huckaby, son of Job and K.K.

We’ve had quite a few people asking about Josiah…so here’s an update: He is doing good. He is up to 8 lb.. 5.5oz. We had a set back with his lungs so he is on a Bubble CPAP now. They have been able to wean him some but it has been very slowly. As far as his g-tube, he is doing well with that. They are working towards weaning him down to 30 minute feeds every 3 hours. Still no idea when he will get to come home. One of the doctors told us he probably has a long way to go since this last set back. Today is day 114 in the NICU but God is so good & He has been so faithful to us. We have also been blessed by so much kindness during the last 3.5 months and we can’t express the gratitude & love that overwhelms our hearts…y’all know who you are.

Mr. J.D. Smith celebrated his 84th birthday in rehab with lots of attention from his family.  Pray for him as he continues rehab on his new shoulder.

Operation Christmas Child – Don’t forget to make some purchases all along so we will be able to pack lots of shoeboxes for needy children around the world.  You are always welcome to bring them to me before Sunday School, any week of the year.

Pray for all the children, including my to GA ones, who are headed off to camp in the next few days.  I know of several groups headed out to several different camps.  I pray they are safe and well-fed spiritually.  I also pray for the youth leadership attending camps with them.  May they have abounding love and patience as well as wisdom in dealing with all the situations they will face.

VBS finished at some churches and begins at others.  Pray for young lives to be changed in the VBS opportunities.

I have noticed the music in some stores the last couple of days.  Thankfully, I heard “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling” and other wonderful hymns in one.  It made my day happy.
