“Leave the children alone,

because the kingdom of heaven

is made up of people like this.”

Christy Hayne’s dad has had more heart problems which were hopefully corrected with surgery.  He is better and able to be back at home as of yesterday.  Christy is thankful God has more plans for her dad here on earth.  He lives in Florida.

Johnnie “Lil Man” Santangelo has had some new issues and is beginning a new treatment, IV chemo, for brain inflammation and swelling and to restore vision, strength, and tolerance.

Macy Gueldner (Written by her mother)

I’ll be on my way to Baton Rouge after Cate’s soccer practice. I’m switching places with Jeremy tonight, and I’m very happy about it!

Macy is doing fine. All I know about the bacteria is that it’s a bacteria that is usually found in the intestines. I don’t think they’ve identified a specific antibiotic to use, so she’s still on a broad spectrum. They’re in no hurry to release her, so we’ll be a few more days, at least.

Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers. We appreciate everyone’s concern, and it helps to know that we’re surrounded by so much love

Two special monthly events I attended this week:

  • Young at Heart at New Zion was especially meaningful to us as two ladies who are missionary moms attended with one of them speaking.  We formed a special bond in that short time together.
  • We were also blessed by the gathering at the cabin last night.  The group of people and each word spoken/sung seemed to be “just what we needed”.  Two special observations: Our group last night included seven retired teachers.  We heard “Happy Birthday” on the harmonica, a first for most of us!

Next week – “Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party

  • Tuesday at 11:00 A.M
  • The Cafe in Kentwood
  • Honors ladies of FBC who have March birthdays

The Hope Center is doing well.

  •  Thank-you for your donations of money and items.
  • If you wish to set up a time to volunteer, please let me know.

Operation Christmas Child

  • Check the bulletin board and table across from the kitchen in the fellowship hall of FBC if you wish to give items for the shoeboxes.  All items will be stored until the fall when we will pack the shoeboxes.
  • Individuals, classes, and groups are encouraged to get involved early this year.

~1 Chronicles 16:11~

Andy and Betty Taylor ask for prayer for Rickie Mapes.  He has cut his right hand and could not be stitched together.  This is his “working” hand.  Pray it can heal quickly and with no complications.  (She told me Sunday, but I forgot.)

Mansell Stinson‘s doctors have found a way to increase his circulation!  Pray that it is enough to prevent surgery.

Renee Deck Terrell is having some health issues that make walking difficult.  Pray for the best for her.

Smiley’s sister, Frances McKenzie, and her family are in need of extra prayers.

Continue to pray for Joe and Jean Easley.  She will be having surgery at 6 this morning at Tulane.  He is in rehab in Hammond.  Thankfully, they have family and friends who have stuck by them through all their difficulties.  They are lovely people who have had a very difficult time over the past few years.

Mrs. Nadine Council called yesterday.  Dr. Earl Council is continuing to improve.

Mrs. Nadine Bridges was taken to North Oaks over the weekend.  I do not have an update, but I’m sure prayers are always appreciated.

Frances Strickland has a new short-term roommate.  This is working our well for both of them.  Pray for her as she continues to make needed adjustments.

Mr. Bobby Lawson continues to have hospice care at home.  Pray for him and his family during these unpredictable days.

Rev. Tim Jones had a change of medication that seems to be helping.  Pray for him as he faces additional testing.

Pray for Mrs. Cecile Alford and her family.

Koltyn Gafford is doing pretty well.  The family is making the necessary adjustments to being at home, but have certainly found and enjoyed the advantages of being back in Amite.

Pray for one of my neighbors who is having some problems.  We can best help by praying for her.

Pray for Mrs. Hellen Morris and her family.  She’s in rehab in McComb.

Terri Easley thanks everyone for praying for her.  She will be fine soon.

Alan Douglas Graham lost his battle to cancer yesterday.  Pray for his family in the coming days.

Camp Living Waters

Monica Maddox, Director of Volunteers, is thrilled and overwhelmed with your contributions for the five trailers and for your willingness to prepare a meal for a group of Campers on Mission who will be there to work March 23-27.  It not too late to call and volunteer.

We are asking that your church or group provide either lunch or supper for this group (40 – 60) Monday-Thursday. I will know for certain on Sunday, March 22 the total number.

We will provide the drinks.

Lunch is served at noon. Lunch is usually something light, such as soup, sandwiches, or hamburgers. Side items have included chips, salad, or fresh fruit.

Supper is served at 5:30. In the past supper has been jambalaya, spaghetti, pork, fried chicken and even pizza. Side dishes that compliment the main course are appreciated. We can provide the garden salad items.

Desserts are not needed as they usually bring enough on their own.

In order for a meal not to be duplicated, please let me know what you wish to provide as soon as possible. I would like to have the meal schedule completed by Feb 16h, 2015.

We also are asking for volunteers to come to the camp and help out with the breakfast meal. This would be Monday – Thursday also. I need 2 volunteers each day from 6:30 – 8:30 a.m. There is no serving line, but I would need help with clean up.
If you have any questions, please call my home. 985-345-3315.

This is a letter from Camp Living Waters about the need for volunteers and meals in March.  Who is available and willing?

January 21, 2015

Monday, March 23, 2015 – Friday, March 27, 2015, Camp Living Waters will have the Campers on Missions working at the camp.  Campers on Missions (COM) is a group of folks from all over the state.  They build, repair, paint and maintain church camp facilities and Louisiana College.  COM has served by getting the facilities ready for the spring and summer camps.   The camp provides the materials and supplies for the projects.   Because they are willing to minister to us by their hard work, we are asking for our local churches to help us by covering the food expense and to bless them by your ministry.

I would like to have the meal schedule completed by Feb 9th, 2015.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

Filled paper bags are being turned in.  If you have a bag, please fill it and return to the area across from the kitchen.  If you, as an individual, do not have a bag, please get one or more, fill them, and return them as soon as possible.  We have a lot of boxes to fill to make many little hearts smile at the end of the year.

Thank-you!

I often present needs here and you graciously respond to these needs.  For example:

  • Monica Maddox is coming from Camp Living Waters Friday to pick up the items you donated.
  • We are approaching our goal for Lottie Moon.  The “candy cane” is looking real good!
  • You donate to Hope Center and give of your time to volunteer there.
  • We filled more shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child than we have ever done before.

Thank you for the many ways you show the love of God (and others) dwells in your heart!

Koltyn Gafford – BETTER!

(Written by his mom)   Koltyn had a good day today. Got moved back to the Rehab floor but had to move rooms to be closer to the nurses station. Momma got to bathe him in a tub for the first time and he did wonderful.

{(Written by his Poppy(grandpaw)}  It is really amazing how this 2 yr. little boy has touched so many people he brought so many people together and touched so many hearts I think God has bless more than one of us

Macy Gueldner

(Written by her mother)  I was hoping that Macy would have an easier time this week than she usually has. This is, by far, her most painful week out of the month. However, it’s the first time that she didn’t get chemo in her spine, in addition to IV chemo and steroids. So, I hoped that it would lessen her pain, but unfortunately I was wrong. She’s having a really tough time. She’s in a lot of pain, and she’s just miserable. She’s crying through both the days and nights. I know that she’ll feel better in a few days, but it’s hard to watch her suffer. I can’t do anything except hold her and give her pain meds, so I basically feel helpless. Please pray that her little body feels better sooner than later. I want to see her smiling and singing again!
