Mary Katherine “Kitty” Bennett Lapeyrolerie, age 67, of Central, died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Ochsner Medical Center-Baton Rouge Wednesday morning, March 31, 2016, after battling several prolonged health issues. Kitty was born in McComb, Miss., moved around throughout her childhood before returning to Louisiana to attend LSU, where she earned her degree in social work. She then dedicated the next 30 years of her life to helping people find their way through Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, from which she retired as the regional manager. She continued her service to others by volunteering in her community, most recently serving as a Sunday School teacher at Blackwater United Methodist Church in Central for 10 years. Kitty is survived by her husband of 42 years, Larry Lapeyrolerie of Central; sons Jeb Lapeyrolerie of Hunt, Texas; Ben Lapeyrolerie with wife Jackie of Baton Rouge; Coy Lapeyrolerie and wife Adrie of Baton Rouge; Vance Lapeyrolerie and partner Casey Scott of Jackson, La.; sister Jackie Bennett Hickman with husband LTC Bill (Retired) of Billingsley, Ala.; nieces Jennifer Green Williams with husband COL Brian Williams of Carlisle, Pa.; Katherine Green of Birmingham, Ala.; Elizabeth Green Shears and husband Eric Shears of Birmingham, Ala.; Alexandria Hickman of Daphne, Ala.; Allison Bennett Fields with husband Brad Fields of Denham Springs; and nephew Billy Bennett; and sister-in-law Patrice Saucier of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold C. Bennett and Elaine Mixon Bennett; and her brother, Mickey Bennett. A Wake will be held on Monday, April 4, from 5-8 p.m. at Seale Funeral Home in Central. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 5, from 9-11 a.m. at Blackwater United Methodist Church in Central, with the funeral ceremony to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary. A reception will be held afterwards at the Lapeyrolerie home in Central. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Blackwater United Methodist Church Youth Group.
