Lawrence Fredrick Daniels Jr.

OCTOBER 4, 1940 – JUNE 14, 2018

Lawrence “Larry” Fredrick Daniels, Jr., 77, a resident of Greensburg, LA passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018. Larry was a retired dairy farmer and a retired business manager for the St. Helena Parish School Board. He loved gardening, daily afternoon visits with friends and sitting outside in his recliner taking in all of God’s glory. He is survived by his wife, Sue Waller Daniels; son, David Daniels; daughters, Daina Daniels, Denise Gardner (husband Craig), and Terri Daniels; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gary Daniels. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Maude Daniels. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until the Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. at Days United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Days United Methodist Church.

Virginia “Dean” Noto

September 10, 1928 – June 19, 2018

Dean went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the age of 89. She was a native of Greensburg and a resident of Independence. Dean was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Independence. She was also a member of the Lady’s Auxiliary of the American Legion. Dean was a social butterfly and really enjoyed hosting parties and get togethers at her home. She loved to admire all of God’s small creations like flowers, birds, and butterflies. Dean was a wonderful cook and made memorable meals for her family and friends. She was the true definition of what a lady should be; beautiful and kind. Dean was a very giving and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She is already so deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Dean is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Victor E. Noto; daughters, Pamela Cox (Michael), Charlene Russell (Robert), Patricia Klahorst (Chris), and Deborah Bankston (Jerry); step-daughter, Lola Scicluna (Billy); son, Charles Thomas Jr (Carlette); step-sons, Paul Noto, and John Frank Noto; sister, Linda Carol Phillips; 31 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Ruby Guy; her 1st husband, Charles N. Thomas Sr; brothers, Homer Guy, Robert Guy, and Kenneth Guy; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Thomas; and step-son, Vic Joe Noto.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Colonial Cemetery.

Josiah Huckaby is at home!!!!!

So I’m a little slow getting this update posted…but Josiah got to come home Monday evening!!! He’s doing great & loving being at home! We have been very busy trying to get things unloaded & organized, as well as trying to keep up with his crazy med list & schedule but I feel like we are starting to work out some kinks in our routine. It hasn’t been easy and frankly I’m exhausted but it is completely worth it…and I was able to get some much needed sleep last night! To God be the glory!!! 😁       KK

 

 

I talked with Eleanor last night.  She and Buddy Morris were still home waiting.  I’ll post an update when I know they are back at the hospital.

James E. Cormier

January 02, 1951 – June 16, 2018

James E. Cormier, a resident of Holden passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at his home. He was born January 2, 1951 in Lafayette and was 67 years of age. He was a member of Hillsdale Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Jane Mitchell, Holden; son, Anthony Cormier, Jackson, LA as well as many other sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Cathy Macaluso, Ponchatoula, and Sister Seals, Tylertown, MS; 4 brothers, Mike Cormier, Denham Springs, Terry Tullos, Amite, Jr. Tullos, Albany, and Dicky Tullos, Walker. Preceded in death by his son, Joseph Cormier; parents, Burleigh Cormier and Edolia Smith. Barbara Jean Whitlock Belser

January 22, 1933 – June 16, 2018

Barbara Jean Whitlock Belser passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in Georgetown, Texas. She was born on January 22, 1933 in Bronson, Texas to Carl Fisher Whitlock and Mabel Royer Whitlock. She was a graduate of St. Mary Nursing School in Galveston, Texas, during which time she met on a blind date Robert Dewey “Bob” Belser, who was attending the University of Texas Medical School, also in Galveston. The two married on June 26, 1953 in Beaumont, Texas. Following his graduation from medical school, Bob joined the U.S. Navy Medical Corp. During the course of his navy career, Bob and Barbara would be stationed at various naval bases in the continental United States and eventually in Sasebo, Japan. While Bob continued his medical service, Barbara served as a navy wife and mother. Following his naval career, Bob and Barbara moved to Greensburg, Louisiana, where Bob continued in private medical practice and Barbara would later work at the St. Helena Parish Nursing Home. Their children attended Greensburg High School and Oak Forest Academy. Bob and Barbara later lived in Round Rock, Texas briefly, before returning to Greensburg. Following Bob’s death, Barbara would move to Georgetown, Texas, where she died.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years; and her only brother, Paul Clinton Whitlock.

She is survived by her children: Robert Dewey “Bobby” Belser, Jr. and wife Mary Jo of Greensburg, Louisiana; Viki Belser Johnson and husband Johnny of Georgetown, Texas; Pamela Gaye Belser of Georgetown, Texas; Carla Belser Weathersbee and husband Byron of Salado, Texas; and David Bryan Belser and wife Shelli of Round Rock, Texas. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: Christen Johnson Bedair and husband Casey Bedair and their daughter, Luka; Allison Johnson Holt and husband Heath Holt and their children, Rosie and Hudson; Matthew Belser; Christopher Belser and fiancée Emily ; Robert “Bo” Weathersbee and wife Julie; Brittney Weathersbee; Casey Weathersbee Spears and husband Koby; Colton Belser; and Braden Belser.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Greensburg, LA on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., followed by services to be conducted by Barbara’s son-in-law Byron Weathersbee and grandson Matthew Belser. Internment will be at the Greensburg Cemetery, where Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Charles W. “Charlie” Hanks

July 16, 1932 – June 19, 2018

Charles W. “Charlie” Hanks, a resident of Greensburg, LA passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at his home. He was born July 16, 1932 in Clinton, LA and was 85 years of age. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a pipeline mechanic and a great tinkerer. He loved country music and a stiff drink from time-to-time. He is survived by his son, Charles Kevin Hanks, New York, NY; 2 sisters, Ruth Chiasson, Thibodaux, LA; Kathy Labat, Raceland, LA; and three nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Bond Hanks; father, Toler Hanks; mother, Elizabeth Hanks. The family would like to extend a special thanks and gratitude to Oscar and Dawn Bridges for their devoted love and friendship for Mr. Charlie as well as a thanks to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Lisa King, and Jackie Smith. Please pray for Steven Clark (50), Ora Lee Wilson’s nephew.  He had a heart attack about six months ago and another one today.  He is not a good candidate for surgery.   He is in OLOL hospital.

 

Buddy Morris‘ surgery was done this morning.  The doctor is meeting with the family about this time.  Please continue to pray for Buddy, Eleanor, and their family.

 

 

Pray for Bill Frazier who has been admitted to the hospital.  I assume he is in Greensburg.

Juanita Booty

  • Juanita Wheat Booty, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the age of 77. She retired from the Denham Springs Wal-Mart after 20 years of faithful service. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she never passed up a good sale. Juanita is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Dennis Booty; children, Keith Booty and wife, Yvonne, Greg Booty and wife, Suzanne, and Dee Dee Mathews and husband, Darrell; grandchildren, Kasie, Matt, Brittney, Blake, Alex, Luke, Abbie, and Karly; great-grandchild, Kendall; sisters, Gwen Lemay (Ernie) and Ora Lee Wilson (Robert); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Iola Wheat; and siblings, Barbara Jo Clark and John Q. Wheat. Walter Theodore “Buster” Thompson, III

June 07, 1932 – June 09, 2018

Walter Theodore Thompson III, known to many as Buster, was born on June 7, 1932. Surrounded by his closest family, Buster left his life-long home in Hillsdale, LA for his eternal home in Heaven. Buster lived a happy and prosperous life with his wife, Bonnie Hoyt Thompson, with whom he’d celebrate his 66th wedding anniversary on June 23rd. Buster was an active supporter of the Hillsdale community as a member of the Hillsdale Tractor Pullers as well as a career dairyman. He was a member of Hillsdale Baptist Church. He served in the Airforce and fought in the Korean War. He was survived by his wife, Bonnie Hoyt Thompson; sister, Ramona Powers; nieces, Charel Kennedy and Ramona “Baby” Elam; great nieces, Megan Wagner, Sarah Savoy, and Carmen Elam; nephew, Billy Cox; great nephews, Chris Peairs and Hill Savoy, as well as numerous other nephews and nieces. Buster was blessed with “his girls” and their families, Jessica Dupepe (Greg), Jennie Perkins (Corey), Bonnie Jordan (Brooks), Brady, Emma Kate, Court, Kaul, Kade, Bennett, and Blinn. Buster was greeted in heaven by his parents, Walter and Rita Phillips Thompson; sister, Delores Thompson Cox; brothers in law, Frank Powers and Glenn Cox; nephews, Peavy Powers; father in law Charles Hoyt; brother in law and sister in law; Gene and Betty Hoyt Cox; and a special nephew, better known as a grandson, Blaine Milton. Several people in our area had surgery last week and are slowly recovering.  Thank God for the forward progress.  As you continue to pray for them, please also pray for their families, especially where young children are involved.

William Jeremy Ferguson

October 17, 2008 – June 07, 2018

William Jeremy Ferguson, 9, a resident of McComb, MS passed away June 7, 2018 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.  Visitation will be Sunday June 10, 2018 from 1:00 PM until services at 3:00 PM at Holmesville Baptist Church in McComb.  Burial will be in the Holmesville church cemetery.  Bro. Lee Mathis will officiate.  Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

William was born October 17, 2008 in Hammond, LA to Jeremy Neil Ferguson and Monica Edwards Norrell.  He attended Franklin County Elementary School and had just completed third grade. He was a member of Sunnyhill Baptist Church as well as Holmesville Baptist Church. He loved to fish, play baseball, swim, hunting, playing x-box, four wheel riding, and TV watching.  He enjoyed all these activities as well as many others with his siblings.  He loved people of all ages, welcoming them all as friends.  He started a bible club at Franklin County Elementary School.  He was a perfect angel and will be missed greatly.

He is preceded in death by paternal great grandparents, Walter Cleveland Ferguson and Aline Pigott Ferguson, John Grimsley and Nettie Lee Grimsley; his paternal grandfather, Walter Neil Ferguson; maternal great grandparents, Thomas Edwards and Linda Lebo, and Joe Lebo; step grandfather, Johnny Wade.

He is survived by his parents, Jeremy Neil Ferguson and Charity of McComb and Monica Norrell and Ryan of Kentwood; grandparents, Linda and William Edwards of Kentwood and Betty Edwards of Kentwood, and Sue Ferguson of McComb; step grandparents, Bobby and Carol Dykes of Kentwood and Dianne Wade of McComb; two brothers, Austin Abbott of Kentwood and Levi Sterling of McComb; five sisters, Magan Cagle and her husband Wade of McComb, Alyssa Abbot of Kentwood, Jordan Etheridge and her husband Josh of Centerville, Emma Grace Ferguson of McComb and Brelyn Norrell of Kentwood; a nephew, Braxton Cagle; a special cousin, Kinley Edwards; along with numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

The VBS program at FBC, Kentwood was great last night.  Now, we have to wait another whole year to do another one!  It was good to see all the parents and grandparents there.

 

 

Mrs. Ruby Dillon has made good progress with her walking and is scheduled to come home Tuesday afternoon.  Thank God for her progress.

 

 

Connor Corkern is doing much better and may be able to come home on day next week.  Thank God for the progress he has made.

 

 

 

Steve Joseph Campo, Sr.

November 06, 1927 – June 08, 2018

Steve Joseph Campo, Sr., passed away peacefully and prayerfully after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Condition at the age of 90, on Friday, June 8, 2018. He was at home surrounded by his loving wife of 68 years, Savina Parrino Campo and his beloved children. He was born on November 6, 1927 to Joseph J. Campo, Sr. and Fannie Schittone Campo in Tickfaw, La., and lived there most of his life on Mulberry Street. Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a faithful member of St. Helena Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Society and was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He graduated from Amite High School in 1945 and received military training at Camp Roberts, Ca. in radio operations. He worked for New Orleans Beverage Agency and Glazer Wholesale for 44 years and awarded Man of the Year on many occasions. Steve was an elite golfer winning the Springview Club Championship and KC Tournament several times in addition to winning numerous state and local tournaments. He was an accomplished athlete, outdoorsman, harmonica player, and loved all types of music and dance. Steve and Savina, were married October 22, 1950 and reared their nine children in Amite on Mulberry Street. They were deeply devoted to supporting their children attain their life goals and insured that each attended their college degrees and beyond. He is survived by his children: Dr. Stephanie Fay Campo, Dr. Kathryn Kirkhart, JoAnn Campo Beach and her husband, Peter Beach, Steve Joseph Campo, Jr. and his wife, Loreta Genco Campo, Anthony Campo, Dr. Joseph John Campo, Sr., and his wife, Alice Foulks Campo, Jennie Campo Littlewood and her husband, Dr. Steven Littlewood, Mark Campo and his wife, Nancy Smith Campo, Samuel Vincent Campo, Sr. and his wife, Brynn Hastings Campo, and Frank Mario Campo, Sr. and his wife, Tammy Gaeta Campo. He is the proud grandfather to 43 beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren: Callan, Kristy, Emily and Leah Beach, Laura, Jeremy and Noah Gatlin, Thomas and Layla Beach, Steve J. Campo and Aimee Campo, Mary Lauren Campo and fiancee’ Eric Vernon, Jennifer, Cara, Lathan, Ashley and Mabel Campo, Tommy Triche, Braden Chandler , Rachel, Corey, Ace and Hays Blunk, Joey, Silvia and Nicholas Campo, David, Lisa and Haylee Jane Campo, Ryan and Emily Cassidy, Dr. Alden Littlewood, Susannah Littlewood, Joshua, Fallon O’Neill, Easton, and Liam Campo, Jacob Campo, Samuel Campo Jr, Mario, Micah and Sarah Campo. Steve is survived by his brother, John Joseph Campo, Sr., sister in law, Carol Parrino Campo, sister, Catherine Campo Adomitis, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph John Campo, Sr. and Fannie Schittone Campo, and parents-in-law, Tony and Jennie Triolo Parrino, sister, Mary Campo Lavigne, and sister, Sarah Campo Guzzardo, and younger brother John Campo. Steve was a man of deep faith, hard work, integrity and devotion to his family. His strong faith in God and confidence in Gods promises were guiding forces in his life. He was an inspiration to us all, forever cherished in our memory, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Friends and family are invited to his visitation at McKneely Funeral Home of Amite on Monday June 11 from 9:30am to 1:30pm followed by Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Helena Catholic Church on 120 S. First Street in Amite, La. at 2:00pm. Interment will take place at Amite Cemetery on Hwy 16 East. Evelyn Irene Carter born March 3, 1950, died June 2, 2018. She is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Carter and her 2 children, John Robert Carter and Sarah Marie Dolan. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, 6 sisters, and her mother, Margaret Lucy Cutrer. She is preceded in death by her father, Rev. John Cutrer. VBS program Friday night at 6 P.M. at FBC, Kentwood.  Come and be blessed as you see and hear the children.

 

 

 

Looking ahead – June 16 we will have a project work day at FBC for OCC, Friendship House, and other ministries from 9 AM. to Noon.  Adults, youth, and children are needed.  The more people, the more we can accomplish.  Everything needed that day will be provided.  Just show up to give of your time!

I had a great day today! I’m holding my own with minimal oxygen support, however your prayers for my pneumonia to clear up in my left lung are still very appreciated!

Rev. Bobby Spinks was having medical tests as part of the process of qualifying to serve as a missionary with the IMB when the doctor detected one or more cancerous nodules in Bobby’s throat.  Surgery will be very soon.  Please pray for Bobby and his family.

 

 

Mrs. Cindi Richards had knee-replacement surgery and was up walking the hallway within a few hours.  Keep her and Bro. Gene in your prayers.

 

 

Jon-Michael Williams passed away at the Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond, Louisiana on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the age of 25. He was born on Friday, November 6, 1992. Jon-Michael was a native of Roseland, Louisiana and a resident of Tickfaw, Louisiana. He graduated from Hammond High School in 2011, and was a member of both the football and baseball teams. He also played travel ball for Robbie Roubique. He was loved by so many friends and will be greatly missed by all. Jon-Michael is survived by his mother, Brenda Gill Williams; God-sister, Crystal Gonzalez Poche’; aunt, Charlotte Gill; nanny, Francis Stewart; God-mother, Theresa McElroy Murphy; God-father, Joe Premo Sr.; uncle, Jimmy R. Williams and his wife Judy; and nephew, Michael Dean and his wife Celeste. He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Mann Williams Jr.; paternal grandparents, Gordon Williams Sr. and Lenora Premo Williams; maternal grandparents, John Major Gill and Lula Arelia Gill; and uncle, John Edward Gill. A visitation for Jon-Michael will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at St Helena Catholic Church in Amite, LA, from 9:00am until 11:30am with a funeral mass celebrating his life beginning at 12:00 pm. VBS “Shipwrecked” yesterday at FBC,Kentwood

I didn’t hear a total count, but I did hear that there were 97 boys and girls at VBS yesterday.  There were probably almost that number of adults and youth workers.  From my viewpoint, the boys and girls had a great time learning about Jesus coming to the rescue when they (we) are lonely.  Day two, coming up!  Thank you to all the parents who entrusted us with your children yesterday.
