Monday – Again!

Therefore Jesus said again,

“Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.

I am the gate;

whoever enters through me will be saved.

They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;

I have come that they may have life,

and have it to the full.

~ John 10:7, 9-10 (NIV)~

Please pray for Kenneth Birch as he has more back surgery later this week in Baton Rouge.

Pray for Debi Bales and her siblings.  Their mother is sick.

Frances Strickland is back at Landmark Nursing Home.  She had an infection.

I think I may have confused my day and given you the wrong Scripture to write.  Here’s the correct Scriptures.

  • 1st – Isaiah 7:14-17
  • 2nd – Isaiah 9:6-7
  • 3rd – Isaiah 11:1-5
  • 4th – Isaiah 11:6-10
  • 5th – Isaiah 40:1-5

Thanks to all who attended the Lottie Moon Tea yesterday.  Special thanks to all who provided food, dishes, or time.  I think when we think of all the smiling faces, we will be so thankful God allowed us to be a part of such an important event.  Special thanks to the girls who sang Christmas songs for us.  You certainly blessed our hearts.

There will be no Friday morning Bible study this week.  We will meet the remaining Fridays of the month as usual.

The mission classes for children will meet at Kentwood every Wednesday at the regular time.  This is a special season of missions for us!

Week of Prayer for International Missions, Day 2 – https://www.imb.org/2016/12/05/week-of-prayer-day-2/

“Go Light Your World” – This song was sung by Wendy Fowler and the girls of FBC yesterday at the tea.  It was beautiful.  As we watched the girls, we all had smiles on our faces.

I think this is God’s assignment for each of us no matter where we live!

This is a good day to light of candle of God’s love in our community.

Lottie Moon Christmas Tea!

  • Ladies, we’re still in the getting ready stage, but the fellowship hall is taking on a special spirit.  I hope you will know you are invited to participate.  We especially want girls in your families to be able to attend with you.  We think this will be a special occasion you will want to share with more than one generation of your family.  The girls will be our entertainment.  It will be fun and encouraging to hear their voices.
  • It’s also encouraging to see the ladies and girls from our neighboring churches.  It helps build unity of spirit even though we attend different churches.
  • What a great way to being the Week of Prayer for International Missions!
  • FBC, Kentwood has 427 stamped Christmas cards for the parish prisoners to send to family members.  Ladies from our association are welcome to bring their cards to the tea Sunday.  I can deliver them to the jail Monday for you when I deliver our cards.

We will have Bible study this morning at 10.  I’ll give you your next lessons today.

Share some of the sweet Christmas spirit with others today!

Thankfulness, Day 25 – I’m thankful for our cabin.  It’s been home to family, holiday celebrations, church meetings, Third Thursday gatherings, garden clubs, birthdays celebrations, anniversaries, teacher meetings, and more.  Most gathering were good, but some were sad.  God was here for all of them.  We are blessed with this special place. Thank-you, God, for allowing us to have this special building.  May you allow us to use it much more.

Mrs. Hazel Allen is now hospitalized.  As you pray for her, please pray for her family.

David Bryant

Today & everyday I’m thankful for my family and friends who have Prayed, messaged , called and visited me at the hospital and rehabs. It’s been a long and very emotional 5months but it’s getting better every day. If anyone has to say they almost died twice in 2 months I can be the one. God spared my life twice and kept me around for a reason. Thank you all and it not over yet but I’m getting there. My parents house is being remodeled due to the flood and it been very emotional for them also.

Thankfulness, Day 24 – Today I am thankful for memories of holiday traditions.  It is easy to ponder my family traditions, both when I was a child and when my children were growing up.  David and I have enjoyed large family gatherings and wonderful food.  It doesn’t matter what the traditions have been, it’s okay to make new ones.  I’m thankful that my family overseas can have a traditional holiday with other Americans and my Georgia family never wants for company, family or otherwise.

Have a wonderful holiday, no matter how or where you celebrate.  It’s not about food or family.  It’s about God!

Wednesday

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;

give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;

his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Mr. Cete Dillon also is sick.  He and “Miss” Ruby got medical care yesterday and hopefully will be able to enjoy their Thanksgiving company.

I got the Varnado name wrong yesterday.  It is Maxine Varnado.  I have not heard how her procedure went yesterday.

David and I visited the St. Helena Hospital and Nursing Home yesterday.  We saw four sweet ladies.  Two, Mrs. Juanita Pritchett and Mrs. Grace Chadwick, are from Roseland were we grew up,  Two, Mrs. Margaret Callihan and Miss Shira Easley, are from Kentwood.  We had four great visits and are so glad we made those visits.  Believe it or now, they made us feel better!  All four are improving.  “Miss” Grace will be 95 Sunday!

I have another update on the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. The 1,126 boxes collected or dropped off in Kentwood were added to those from the surrounding area in Hammond.  The new total was 13, 786.  Those shoeboxes filled two trucks and part of another one.  They may be at their next destination already.

“Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party – Yesterday, we had eleven ladies present including two birthday ladies.  We had a great time.

Friday Morning Bible study will be in John 12.  Feel free to join us at 10:00.

Children in Action WILL meet tonight at 6 P.M.  I love to teach missions to these precious boys and girls.

“Count Your Blessings”

Thankfulness, Day 23 – Today, I’m thankful for transportation.  Some of my ancestors lived on this land four generations ago.  When I consider it takes 15 minutes to get to Kentwood today and longer to get to many other places we travel,  I am so thankful for my vehicle and the roads we travel on.

Sunday

Give thanks in all circumstances;

for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

A new baby was born Friday, making our friends Matt and Shea first time grandparents.  I’m sure many of you will remember when Drew was born when they were living in Kentwood.  It seems like yesterday.  Now the next generation has started.

Matt and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our first grandchild, Caleb Judson Williams, who was born Friday evening to Drew and Morgan. We were able to skype with him a little while ago. He was rather bored and slept through the entire time, but we understand. 🙂 His parents kept us entertained instead. Dec. 5th can’t come soon enough for these two grandparents. His aunts (Lindsey and Melody) are pretty excited, too. Let the spoiling begin!

Thankfulness, Day 20 – I’m thankful for the first six days of collecting Operation Christmas Child “shoeboxes”.  It was pure joy receiving each box.  It was also a joy to get to spend sweet time with others as we waited.  I’m looking forward to collecting a few more today and them sending the boxes to their next destination in the morning.  I’m thankful for the first Drop-off week at FBC, Kentwood.  I am so anxious for the boxes to be in the hand of the boys and girls.

Buddy Waller‘s appointment was changed to Tuesday so the doctor could gather more information.  That gives us more time to pray for him.

Thankfulness, Day 18 – Today, I’m thankful for the cabin.  It allows us to share our home with so many others.  God blesses us with those that enter our cabin.  We had another great night last night.  The Third Thursday gathering at the cabin is the highlight of my month every month.

Please pray for Buddy Waller today as he sees a surgery to set up surgery.  I think he will be appreciative of our prayers.

A number of people are undergoing medical testing.  Pray for this group of people.

David got a better report from the retina specialist Friday.  He is seeing better.  The retinas are remaining attached.  Swelling is going down in the left eye. The doctor cleared him for driving.  David is enjoying that freedom again.  The doctor also gave him permission to travel to higher elevation, so we will be able to travel to GA for our 14 year old grandson, Braden’s, eagle scout ceremony.  We are thanking God for healing and you for praying.
