Tuesday

Repent, then, and turn to God,

so that your sins may be wiped out,

that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

This verse reminds me of “You Must be born again” –

“A ruler once came to Jesus by night to ask him the way of salvation and right….”

A representative from the LA Baptist Children’s Home will be in Kentwood April 12 -13 to pick up special items that are needed at the children’s home before the Fall Food Round-up in September.  Some items they especially need are:

Chlorox wipes

Laundry baskets

Pillows

Pillowcases

Laundry detergent

Individually wrapped candy

Leave your items under the stairwell at the office entrance.

There will be a movie, “Facing Darkness” THURSDAY NIGHT at many locations.  It is the story of Dr. Brantley who developed Ebola while caring for patients a few years ago.  You may want to check this out.

“Do all your work in love.”

~1 Corinthians 16:14TEV~

I’ve always heard you should love what you do! The saying should be changed to match this verse.  It should say “in/with love”.

I hope others see Jesus as you go through your daily life today.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: WHAT IS THE ANNIE ARMSTRONG EASTER OFFERING?
A: In 1895, the first missions offering to benefit the work of home missions (now known as North American missions) was promoted and taken up by Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU). The Home Mission Board (now known as the North American Mission Board) asked for $5,000 toward its work. WMU efforts exceeded that goal. Today, more than $1 billion has been raised since the beginning of the offering, for North American mission efforts. Every dollar of the offering (named after missions advocate/WMU leader, Annie Armstrong, in 1934) goes to missionaries and their work of sharing the life-transforming gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the United States, Canada and their territories.
Q: HOW MANY MISSIONARIES DOES THE ANNIE ARMSTRONG EASTER OFFERING SUPPORT?
A: The North American Mission Board supports 5,684 missionaries in multiple categories. NAMB’s annual report provides missionary count information, as well as a summary of missions efforts. Visit namb.net/annualreport.

Mission Projects/Needs
  • The PAPERBACK Bibles will be delivered to the jail Thursday morning.  If you have some to contribute, please get them to the stairwell by the office entrance to FBC,Kentwood by noon Wednesday.  If you are unable to get them this time, please bring them for the next delivery.  There are 400+ prisoners in Amite with the population constantly changing, so we will never be able to stay “caught-up”.  There will be a continuous need.
  • Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home Special Needs – FBC, Kentwood distributed a blue half-sheet of paper with a list of need such as dishcloths and batteries.  If you have these items, you can continue to bring them to the office stairwell area.  I am in contact with the LBCH and will see they are delivered to the proper people.

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering – One of the missionary couples we saw and heard Saturday at M-Jam is supported through the AAEO.  They are doing a special work in a difficult area of New Orleans.  Pray and give so they can continue to do what God has called them to do.

Read the Bible in 2017 – I Samuel 13-14 and Psalm 81.  I think I may have forgotten to tell you to watch the videos on Ruth and I Samuel at jointhebibleproject.com

If you didn’t start this on January 1st, don’t fret.  You can start at day one at any time.  After a year of reading, you will have read the whole Bible.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.

It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

“His Eye is on the Sparrow” – This is one of my favorite songs.  I’m reading Billy Graham’s autobiography.  It’s easy to think about Ethel Waters singing this song at all the crusades.

Roy and Diane Turner were at church and helping lead the singing yesterday, only hours after a terrible accident.  She has a number of cuts and bruises.  Thank God they survived the wreck and were able to worship God within hours.

Please continue to pray for Andy and Betty Taylor.  They seem to go from one health issue to another one.  They are missed when they are unable to be in church.

Donna Fay Miller is home and improving from her pneumonia.  Pray she keeps getting better.

There will be a ladies’ prayer breakfast before  Sunday School next week.  Sign the list at the church or contact the church office to be added to the list.  A missionary who is on stateside assignment will be the speaker.
