Operation Christmas Child will be a six month project this year.  The needs for the month of May can be found on the four OCC wreaths hanging at the church.  Please do your share by selecting some cards listing purchase needs.  Items you purchase can be brought to the Sunday School classroom next to the choir room.  Thanks for helping.

Friday Morning Bible Study will be on John 6.  Please ask me for a study guide if you didn’t get one yet.

Today, I would appreciate you praying for my daughter’s mother-in-law, Ginger Hatchel, who lives in Texas.  She’s having some health issues possibly associated with medication.

Pray for Andy Taylor as he sees his doctor again today.  Pray he gets a good report on his last procedure.

Pray for Cindy Knight Edwards, formerly of Amite, but now living in Livingston Parish. Cindy is a young wife and mother who will be having surgery today.  I ask you to pray for her.

Operation Christmas Child – If you were not at church Sunday, but will be shopping today or tomorrow, stop by the church today to pull some cards from the OCC wreaths in the auditorium.  Our gifts will bless some young boys and girls who might not otherwise have any Christmas gifts.  Best of all, they will have literature and opportunities to learn about Jesus because of the “shoebox” we send.

Thursday

He has delivered us from such a terrible death,

and He will deliver us.

We have put our hope in Him

that He will deliver us again.

Today, let’s focus our prayers on the faces and names of those who were once more active than they are now, the homebound.  Let’s not follow the old saying, “Our of sight, out of mind!”.  They are not limited to this quick list I made this morning.

  • Othell Williams
  • Philip and Annie Bell Harrell
  • Evelyn Bridges
  • Hazel Smith
  • Ed and Jeanette McGehee
  • Catherine Yarborough (Kentwood Manor)
  • Jimmy Schwartz
  • Frances Strickland (Landmark Nursing Home)
  • Angie Redmond (Greensburg Nursing Home)
  • Lucy Goings (Landmark Nursing Home)

Pray for those graduating from high schools, colleges, and seminaries this month.  I’ll not attempt to list them all.

Today is the National Day of Prayer across our nation.  Most towns/communities/cities will have a celebration of some sort.  If you cannot participate at the set time and location, please set aside some time to have prayer with those at your home or even alone.  In Amite, the event will be at the city hall at 11:30 this morning.  In Kentwood, the ceremony will begin at noon.  Join them if you can.

~Jonah 2:6~

Last night, as I was preparing the devotional for tonight’s Ladies’ Night: Upsy-Daisy, I found this verse in my inbox.  It fits perfectly!  It was a God-wink!  I think we all need Scriptural reminders periodically.  God has them waiting for us!

Speaking of Ladies’ Night, it’s tonight at 6:15.  I hope each of you area ladies will be coming and bringing a guest or two.  Remind your friends from area churches.  Do it now.  If you put it off, it will be too late tomorrow.

Our musical guests will be back at popular request.  We’ll have Heather and Emily Miller sharing their talents on the violins.  You don’t want to miss these two young ladies. Not only are they talented, but they use their talents for the Lord.

Jennie has been here for two days.  What a surprise she gave us!  What a blessing it has been to visit, shop, and eat together!  She’ll begin her flights home about noon today.  I know her family has missed her.  They were so excited about surprising us.  We were shocked, but so pleased.  In about  twenty years of living far away, this was a first!

Please feel free to pray for her as she travels home and begins to adjust to the seven hour time difference.  Thank God for the opportunity she had to come to the states and learn some things that will impact her work with those who are learning new languages.
