Morris Leon “M.L.” Robertson

November 11, 1943 – April 07, 2022

Morris Leon “M.L” Robertson passed away on Thursday afternoon April 7, 2022 at The Lodge at Tangi Pines Nursing Home after a brief illness at the age of 78. M.L. previously worked as a deck hand offshore and as a cook on several tugboats. He is survived by his brother, Bob Robertson (Janice); sister, Diane Robertson Lee; nieces, Donna Lee Jones and Rebecca Lee Loupe (Scott), nephew, Joseph Paul Lee (Candice), Jerry Wayne Robertson (Rhonda). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert David Robertson, Sr. and Beatrice LeNoir Cutrer Robertson; son, James Edward Robertson; and daughter, Betty Jo Robertson. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.

Jean Wilson Dees Courtney

October 04, 1933 – April 07, 2022

A resident of Amite, LA, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA. She was born October 4, 1933 in Amite, LA and was 88 years of age. She was the owner of The Village Wear House in Amite, LA from 1972 until 2000. She is survived by her 4 children, Wally Dees and wife, Amber, Richard S. Dees, Kerri Dees Ardillo and husband, Jay, and Brian P. Dees and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Adam Dees, Matt Dees (Heather), Patrick Dees (Jessica), Daniel Dees (Brianne), Benjamin Dees, Amy Dees Woodard (Trent), Joseph Ardillo, Jonathan Ardillo, Courtney Schumacher (Sheila), Hayden Schumacher, Danny Edwards, Zachary Edwards (Bailey), Kaleb Hebert; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Wilson Travis (Dennis); numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Wallace A. Dees, Jr.; second husband, Edwin Courtney; parents, Howard and Ethel Wilson. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Our Lady of the Lake HVCU for their special care that she received. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 5:00PM until 9:00PM on Monday. Visitation will resume at Kedron Baptist Church, Amite, from 8:00AM until Religious Services at 11:00AM on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Services conducted by Rev. Byron Humphrey. MISSION REMINDER

  2. Thanks to Kris Pierre and David Alford for getting 98 shoebox lids painted and decorated with cute pictures the children will enjoy. The next step is to write a message on each box.
  3. Thanks to Wanda Smith for ordering t-shirts with money given by a couple of the adult classes.
  4. Reminder – Our ladies and girls will meet on the 23rd to work on several projects for the shoeboxes. Bring a friend and a snack. Pass the word along to others.
