“What a gift life is to those who stay the course!

You’ve heard, of course, of Job’s staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end.

That’s because God cares, cares right down to the last detail.”

~James 5:11, The Message~

Georgia Barnette Week of Prayer for Louisiana Missions

Day 1 – Kenner, LA

Operation Christmas Child

We are preparing shoeboxes for the first of three packings. Thanks to several of you who have stepped up to make sure we have what we need to pack. Last night, I participated in an online workshop that was wonderful. I have been encouraged and learned some Covid – 19 adaptations that will be helpful this year. I heard a quote that I will apply, “Trust and Adjust”. That certainly fits 2020.

We are now collecting funds to pay for shipping of the shoeboxes. I ask that you pray for us as me move from the collecting phase to the packing. Also, PRAY FOR EACH SHOEBOX AND THE CHILD/FAMILY WHO WILL BE BLESSED BY EACH BOX.

Please continue to pray for all the families who have been touched with sickness and/or death lately. Check your church’s prayer list for the current needs in your community.

Read the Bible inn 2020 – September 13

Isaiah 12:1-14:32
2 Corinthians 13:1-14
Psalm 57:1-11
Proverbs 23:9-11

Fall Food Round-Up for the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home

You have one week to get your donations to FBC, Kentwood so your items will make the scheduled pick-up.

Louisiana was hit very hard by Hurricane Laura. The Baptist Disaster Relief teams have been working hard. Those who cannot actually go are encouraged to pray and to provide items that are needed.

Different churches are helping in various ways. Yesterday, Taylor Creek Baptist Church provided a free lunch as a community outreach. Any money they received will be used as part of their disaster relief efforts. What a great service and a great opportunity!

Several people I know have already served a week in tree removal, counseling, chain-saw work, etc. They all report massive needs and wonderful blessings. Find an opportunity to help or create your own method. The key is to help meet physical. emotioal, and spiritual needs in a timely manner.

Today, choose to worship in person or online. I’m so thankful for the choices available to us. All the churches that I know of offer one or both of these options.

Today, I hope you will be an encourager to others. Choose your own methods – cooking, visiting. phone calls. cards. whatever best fits you and the need.
