Yesterday, at church, we had two men with medical issues that we didn’t expect. Trey Buckley, who had neck surgery, and Leslie McKenzie who had the fall a month or so ago were present. Thank-you, Lord, for allowing them to be back in church with us.
The sad portion of our church yesterday was the boat wreckthat killed two people, one of whom was Chase Sharkey. Lord, please be with the family members during this difficult time. Also, be with the coworkers and many friends Chase and the other victim had. The others who were present on the boat also and the rescuers will also need out prayers.
Also, please add Carol Jean Conerly to your prayer list. She’s doing better and was back at church yesterday.

Vacation Bible School
Most churches have had their VBS this summer, but other churches have theirs scheduled for this week. Tangipahoa Baptist Church will be having an evening VBS this week. If this works out for your family, please see that your children are in attendance there this week.

Sammy Tippitt grew up not far from Kentwood. I remember when he started out. God has greatly used him.
In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”
Pray for people who live their life trying to harm other. This can come in many forms – money hungry people, power hungry people, etc. Let’s pray people come to know God and change their focus to living their lives serving Him.

A resident of Osyka, MS, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 23, 1947 in Magnolia, MS and was 76 years of age. Today, let’s pray for all the teachers who will soon be returning to their schools for a new school year and new students. Pray they had some refreshing times and also some times to begin thinking ahead to a new school year with new students this summer.

At the associational WMU meeting Saturday, I was able to hear ladies. from other churches talk about their plans and progress for this Shoebox year. It is very encouraging to know others also value this opportunity to have a part in “telling” so many children about Jesus again this year. Jesus, not the material possessions, is the focus of this ministry. I am so blessed to be a part of sharing Jesus in this way every year. The items that go into the box are very helpful and greatly appreciated, but at not the main point. Jesus is the focus. For that, I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity.
Prayer Focus

Today, let’s pray for all those who live a lonely life. Some are unable to get out. Some are caregivers who cannot leave their patient. Some don’t have close neighbors or relatives. Some seem not to have close friends. For these and other reasons, they may not be able to get out and be a friend to others. Today, let’s pray for boldness to invite others into their world. May this lead to some happy hours and days. Be aware of these situations and reach out to help others.
Today, let’s pray for the presidential election now and the actual voting in November. It’s always very important to choose a president and vice-president of our country. May God bless America!

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Today, let’s pray for the services in all the area churches. May God be glorified by all that is said and done wherever we go and whatever we do today.. May the lost be saved in our classes and services. May those who are already saved learn more about how God would have us serve and live daily .

We celebrated Christmas in July at the associational WMU meeting yesterday. Some of you may never have heard of that, but it has been around for many years. I remember that as a child I checked the calendar to see if Christmas had been moved from December to July or if we might be celebrating Christmas twice that year. The answer to those questions was “No”. It simply was a way to celebrate the plans and activities needed to begin working to help others at the Christmas season. It is a way to have an early Christmas focus on others. The Kentwood ladies, young and older, were blessed by being able to be there.
